the steam version is patched to the latest 2.4 so yes modern hardware is supported
Everyone get this, especially if your someone who really loves immersion, horror and 10/10 story telling, honestly.
Probably the best story and atmosphere out of all the shock games, only real fault with it is the tedious as fuck with the research mechanic later on for a short while.
Its also hard as fuck your first playthrough, extremely unforgiving and expects you to learn the game and amazing.
But remember, this game is not an FPS first, its strongly an RPG that just so happens to have guns and be in first person, so you shouldnt treat like a game like HL1, you should treat as a survival horror, you dont need to fight every fight and ammo is extremely important.
Does it matter if you haven't played the first System Shock?
No.
None of the cutscenes show up in game for me, anyone know what I'm supposed to do to get it working? This is the steam version, I'm running Win7 64bit if that helps.
what cutscenes?
There is supposed to be an intro before the main menu, nothing happens, it just goes straight to the menu. When I click intro on the main menu, nothing happens. I checked youtube, and stuff is supposed to happen there.
Is there a way to disable the mouse delay/lag when you move with the mouse?
It's smooth with A and D but it stutters with the mouse.
I bought it on GoG.
If you do not want it there, buy it here. It probably has everything GoG had.

Well i would buy it if it has things like a editor or expansion/DLC but nothing about that is there. Or for the fact that it could be a higher version but they are both on par.
Also my question still remains, does co op work properly?
it worked on the gog version, even though i had to use hamachi

Oh then its okay i guess, however then i will use Tunngle :v:
This game had the best quotes.
Not played it yet, but I do hope these are better in context and not the B movie/Saturday morning supervillain stuff they appear to be. Tho DX1 was full of that as well and pretty fun anyway, so I guess I'll find out momentarily anyway.
This is a great game. Me and a friend played it all the way to the end but I couldn't appear in the final boss battle due to some stupid-ass bug, just him, and we tried a lot to get me to spawn there but I just didn't. V:v:V
Really sucked, but he handled it well.
I have never played this game. I should buy it when I get money next time. :v:

Yeah, heads up, don't buy it on Steam.
Mouse problems are unbearable for me. Slow as fuck, like Max Payne 3 launch date tier unsenstivie, audio doesn't work half the time. I'd hold off and buy the GOG version unless you want to wait for the Steam version to get all fixed.
Everything works pretty much perfectly for me besides one quirk in the mouse turning where it's a little bit rough. Does anyone know how to make mouse movement smoother?

Make sure you change your audio option from OpenAL to something else, that fixed the audio problems for me.

Yeah, I figured that out a while ago. Mouse settings are still absolutely horrid.
If you play coop in this game do you play the singeplayer campaign or is it non-singleplayer levels?

For NVIDIA graphics card users: Disable the Vertical Synchronization in the nvidia system menu on the desktop. It's now very fluent and smooth for me.

You play the whole sp campaign with buddies.
Anyone thinking of co-op I strongly suggest if you are looking for one of the best immersive and horrorific playthroughs of a game then only do singleplayer, if you dont care about the story/being as scare or immersed, just play co-op and have fun, its fun either way honestly, just having a buddy there with you really lessens the effect the game as on you.

Honestly for someone's first run I would strongly recommend playing alone. A lot of the atmosphere is sitting there, all alone in the middle of space, hopeless. It's just not the same when someone talks with you in an atmospheric game like SS2.

Sadly I have an AMD card, are there any other fixes?

AMD shit should have its own type of control panel where you can force Vsync off.
So I heard there was some crazy fan made patch that made this all amazing. Is this compatible? s
This question is of utmost importance.
Does it comes with all the extra shit the GOG version comes with? The soundtrack and art and stuff?
