I've heard people call Dota 2 a
"Generic elves and orcs fantasy game"
"Warcraft 3 ripoff"
"LoL for asians"
"Valve's big mistake"

Yes, how dare we feel entitled to wanting them to finally complete the sequel to a game that was made 6 years ago and was left on a cliff-hanger that we eagerly want to know what happens next
Because it's free, and a Valve game. It's also a pretty good MOBA

yeah it's so sad that everyone at valve is working on dota and dota only :(
Bring on the brazilians and poles

If they are working on Source 2/Ep3/HL3 then Dota 2 just slowed down the news we could get on it, though that might be okay because of how slow and indecisive Valve is, but Dota 2 still gives them that excuse to be completely silent. Hopefully now that silence breaks.
You can't be serious, as a Dota 2 avatar I can't believe that you of all people would dare to call a universally lauded series "overrated-overhyped". It doesn't take intelligence to get good at Dota 2, but sure, if you want to make an assumption of my intelligence based on an assumption of my skill with a game, then okay, tell me more about how you judge people based on their video game skills.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth, you have to appear smart and superior somehow lol.
Oh and it's funny how you find sad that people like to play games with depth instead of shallow shit.

I'm okay with Valve working on Dota 2, but I am not okay with people saying we aren't entitled (as childish as it sounds), since it is Half-Life fans that started Valve, not Dota fans, we are the ones that provided money to them since we liked where Half-Life was headed, we did not pay for a cliff hanger that would last 6 years with virtually no information released. If it weren't for Half-Life fans, Valve probably wouldn't be successful, nobody there would be rich, and not even Dota 2 would have been created. Half-Life fans funded Valve because they liked Half-Life and wanted to see more of it, we did not fund them for Dota 2. I am okay with Dota 2 being created, but I think Valve should release some information for the fans that actually made them possible.

okay mister 5.5 hours why don't you try and make a team and go on to play in the international and win it?
Wait, there are actually people out there that don't have it?

of course there's no point in arguing that dota 2 is overrated
because you can say absolutely nothing that isn't massively embedded in your personal opinion of it
some people like it, some people love it, you don't like it. Fucking science man

I'm in no way okay with having maybe 3 sentences from Gabe over 6 years describing EP3 but so many people are trashing Dota 2 just because
1. It isn't a new Half-Life and
2. It's not a shooter.
I'm really directing that at those kind of people. Personally I see where you are coming from 100% and I respect that you didn't come into this thread saying "wheres ep3 wtf valve why did u make dis piece of shit"
I despise fighting games and I despise platforming games but I don't go into threads about fighting and platforming games and trashtalk the game and the devs because they made that instead of Game X that I wanted.
Fuck, when I played Warcraft 3 I despised DOTA then, I tried LoL and I hated it, and when I first started playing Dota 2 I also hated it. But after more than 5 matches I finally gave it a real chance and I found that it can be fun. People just kind of blank at the possibility of actually trying Dota 2 and that's frustrating.
Oh thank god now valve can concentrate on an actual game and not a click here click there simulator
you do realize it's going be continually updated as much if not more than TF2 right?
okay mister 5.5 hours why don't you try and make a team and go on to play in the international and win it?
There's a difference between being good and being a professional, I'm not good at Dota 2 in any way, but I never implied that I was, all I'm saying is that being good isn't some sort of accomplishment that should be lauded, it in fact is nothing special besides investing a great deal of time, and that's nothing to be proud of. I'm sorry I insulted your favorite game, I suppose there's no point in arguing this any further, I don't like it, and I definitely don't like games like it (MOBAs), I dislike the mechanics, the gameplay, and most consistently of all, the communities.
i might try this game once the comunity stops to treat every match like a fucking international final.
Oh thank god now valve can concentrate on an actual game and not a click here click there simulator
Yeah, it's not like they have multiple teams or anything...

Sorry but it doesn't take intelligence to be understand anything Dota 2 offers, all it takes is a time investment. It's ironic you accuse me of wanting to appear smart and superior while here you are arguing that the game you play takes "intelligence" to play, as if playing it makes you intelligent in any way.
I love this, you accuse me of playing depthless games when really that's nothing but a subjective term that really holds no meaning anyway, why does it matter if a game is complicated, or simple? As long as it's fun, that's all that matters, especially since fun is derived in infinite ways, but of course, people like you don't seem to care much for the game itself, but more about the fact that you can show others how intelligent and smart you are because you can play a video game well.
But yes, continue making fun of me as if I deserve it, remember this: All I did was say I didn't like a game you love, and now you're getting all upset about it.
Congrats to Valve for another successful release.
Now get back to work on Half Life 3 please..

Of course there's no point in arguing because your arguments are nonsensical, ignorant and dumb
all I'm saying is that being good isn't some sort of accomplishment that should be lauded, it in fact is nothing special besides investing a great deal of time, and that's nothing to be proud of..
and what kind of logic is this? Of course that's something to be proud of, it's a game with many mechanics that you have to master. You should be proud just how good football players are proud for being good.
Of course there's no point in arguing because your arguments are nonsensical, ignorant and dumb
You must realize you're only saying that because you disagree with my opinion on Dota 2, right? I never said anything outlandish besides that I dislike Dota 2, and that's nothing to be dumbed for, especially sine the only reason I'm even saying anything is because you insulted me by calling me stupid just because I don't sink 300 hours into a video game. Really my only other argument besides disliking Dota 2 is that Dota 2 allowed Valve to be silent for quite some time, since they didn't have any sort of expectation to talk about any new games since they already had one coming out. I don't think that's far fetched, do you?
Right, but when the only reason that anyone thinks Dota 2 is a complex game is because of how many mechanics it has, not because of how complicated the mechanics are, it really becomes more of a time sink than anything else. Of course, there are people who are essentially geniuses and are masters of the mechanics and use all of them to their advantage at all points in time, but that is what separates truly skilled (professional) players from people who just play a lot and have a basic grasp of a lot of the game.
i might try this game once the comunity stops to treat every match like a fucking international final.
Your first few games are guaranteed to match you up with totally fresh new players who are also doing the tutorial. You shouldn't have to worry too much.

Maybe countering and building means nothing to you, but you need to be intelligent to be good at it. It's all math and logic.

It makes the game more variated and therefore fun. Brainless shooting won't be fun for too long.
Almost endless replayability with depth(MANY MECHANICS) that is heavily focused on skill and teamwork will. E.g. Dota 2
people like you don't seem to care much for the game itself, but more about the fact that you can show others how intelligent and smart you are because you can play a video game well.
Of course bro, I have 400 hours in Dota 2 and over 2k hours in LoL. I love wasting countless hours on acting intelligent and smart.
Maybe countering and building means nothing to you, but you need to be intelligent to be good at it. It's all math.
It isn't really math at all, it's all estimations, and it doesn't take any sort of geniuses to do estimation based addition, subtraction, division, or even multiplication. I'm sorry, but I have no idea why you care so much to prove how intelligent Dota 2 is compared to other games, I'll come back to that in a second.
roflno. spoilers: mechanics
There are a lot of mechanics, admittedly, but they aren't complicated at all, the only thing Dota 2 has complicated about it is the sheer quantity of players and mechanics, and that is why I say that all that matters is time, not skill. Skill separates the "good" from the truly good, but that's it. You can be good enough without skill as long as you have enough time.

Yeah sure it's a varied game, and it does have good replay, but that doesn't make it automatically better than other games. No matter how complicated, no matter how many things there are to the game, it doesn't make it automatically better than a game that is simple but great. Brainless shooting obviously IS fun for so many people, which is why COD, BF, etc, sell so well.
You sure make it seem like you want to be seen as intelligent, since your first contribution to this argument was making fun of me for being stupid. There's no other way to look at this, honestly, your first priority was to insult someone's intelligence because they didn't like Dota 2, so you must obviously care a lot about intelligence.
But yes, continue making fun of me as if I deserve it, remember this: All I did was say I didn't like a game you love, and now you're getting all upset about it.
You directly insulted someone by calling their taste in games terrible which by extension means you think Dota 2 is terrible, you also called Dota 2 overrated and overhyped so I don't think hes the one whos really upset, and anyway who could blame him? You're just coming off as ignorant and there's no excuse for that, especially if you're really trying to draw on an argument (that you're destined to lose) for this long.
If you just left it as "Didn't like it" then no one really cares, that's cool, it's your opinion, but you keep saying all this other stuff that is downright wrong so of course someone is going to call you out and defend the game against your accusations.
I never said anything outlandish besides that I dislike Dota 2

well good thing I never said it was
This entire time you've been acting like other games are inferior mindless shit games because Dota 2 has more mechanics, so I'm sorry, but that's exactly what you're saying.
