Minecrafting 1.7: the update that changed the world

GTA is awesome, I liked Minecraft more though because it's social and creative.
Maybe if they weren't using extremely outdated networking code PvP would work.
It's a an alright sandbox, but it's not worth $30
I love climbing mountains in the amplified option.

They entirely reworked the netcode for this release.

If it's anything like how they "reworked" gameplay in the last 1.7...
Ill have to see it to believe it.
I think minecraft is pretty expensive for it's production cost.
I remember paying for Minecraft in Alpha, I think it was either like 5$ or 10$, don't remember. Either way, it was worth the price then. Not so sure about now, but it all comes down to opinion.
Playing on servers with friends, I think we all got our money's worth out of it. Even though we don't play it anymore, we played a hell of a lot of it and did some awesome stuff. It definitely has its flaws, but I don't know why people hate the shit out of the game.
You can do a lot of shit in GTAV and that's $60.
My point was that the game should be priced according to the cost of producing it, not the amount of shit the player can do. Which is why Gmod costs 10$ and a huge AAA release costs 60$.
And shit, Minecraft has been "released" nearly two years ago and as far as I know it never dropped below 20€ since then. That's insane.

I like Minecraft but I can imagine people hating it because it's a great example of broken promises and lack of proper direction in video games.
At least half of the game seems to have been made on a whim, stupid crap like horses, enchanting and The End while gameplay elements that are essential for a survival game, like hunger, sleep and torches burning out over time were either scrapped or massively dumbed down in a way that infuriates players. It's like Notch wanted to make a survival sandbox, then a sandbox RPG but then he started losing interest entirely so he just half-assed the rest of the game.
Holy shit has anyone done the amplified world type?
These mountains are AWESOME. They go past the clouds until you cant see the ground and there are so many. One of the good things of minecraft is seeing who can find the most awesome mountain. Amplified makes it hard to choose. There are also FLOATING ISLANDS AGAIN in amplified

The picture doesnt do it justice but it is awesome

They're working on it. One of the things added in this update is reworked networking, IIRC. At least, that's what it says in the changelog.
Get iron within 5 minutes, then strip mine until you get diamond which you use to get more diamond
That is my issue with this game

Yeah, this update really improved the netcode. It's fairly noticable for someone like me that sometimes has to deal with extremely shitty internet.
The only problem I have with minecraft is that without a wiki/forum to ~discover~ everything there would be no gameplay other than running around a world. If it wasn't for pure trial and error you wouldn't even know how to make an axe from wood. They never added a tutorial yet the game's persisted because the community took care of that, that's insane.
It's very much worth $30 for anyone creative, and if you need to quantify your purchases based on how much content something has compared to a completely different game or how much money was spent developing a game or some shit like that you're fucked up. "Is it fun?"/"Will I play this enough to justify spending $30 on it?" should be more than enough criteria

Just admit it, you don't like Minecraft because there are no Flame Atronachs :v:
its like a whoole new game
still waiting for a mod support that atleast allowing modding how combat goes.
Make it into a RPG with bosses that randomly gens bosses and stuff.
i've been waiting on the promised modding api for years

hack / mine does that
also hexxit (sorta)
Ever since Notch first added caves, I've always thought Minecraft should have random RPG style items hidden throughout the world, like Terraria before it even came out.
why would you be dishonest

Got disappointed, but then what else was I expecting from the great devs of Minecraft
did you make a new map or load an old one
because borders being different when the entire wolrdgen system is overhauled is inevitable
€20 isn't that much to be honest.
For a game like Minecraft it is.
€20 wouldn't be much if the game was ever properly developed. When I bought it during it's pre-alpha phase I did so as an investment. I figure if I got the game cheaper now before it was complete it would be worth it to wait for the finished product. Several years later however and the game hasn't changed at all it seems. And it disappoints me greatly. It could be so much more, but Notch loved to dick around and the current devs can't/won't fix the jumbled scrap pile he left behind.
If it turned out to be the game everyone hoped it to be, €20 would have been a reasonable price. But because it's still so shit after all this time you might as well save up for something better.
Hey, people, how much time did you spend playing it in total?
It's probably a ton of time.
You know why you think it sucks now?
Because you got bored of it after playing it for so long.
If there was a timer to count how long you played in total most of you would probably be saying that it is well worth the investment.
I know that I spent a lot more time playing Minecraft than I did playing most of my other games on STEAM.

It's also one of those games that I always come back to. I'll stop playing for months because of extreme boredom and then come back playing nonstop.

I think that it has a lot to do with the way Minecraft was developped, if the developpement was more standardized like most games it would have been appreciated far more. The issue with this constant developement thing is that people feel entitled and except major changes. If Minecraft would have been released with a fair amount of features at one point, it would be far more appreciated by a lot of players.
Holy shit I am having so much fun with these "Super Secret Settings" alone
I'm no fanboy though, but I may actually start playing this again.
It's amazing really, I've played Minecraft on and off since the days when you could press G and spawn a dude.
And now the game has sunflowers and horses.
