We'll be well into a new generation of consoles, meaning PC titles will make a jump up in visual fidelity too. Remember this? That is a realtime Unreal Engine tech demo from last year. Is my statement still unrealistic?
That was running on some seriously high end rig though, nothing the average gamer would buy.
So glad its got a Blade Runner feel. Hope its as strong as the trailer lets on.
I hope it will also have a strong emphasis on story and substance and not only visuals. Because that's what really defines the cyberpunk genre.
This was the message they were talking about:
That was running on some seriously high end rig though, nothing the average gamer would buy.
It wasn't optimized. Where for that demo it was running three 680s (or two, can't quite remember), they got it down to just one 680 a few months later. The tech demo was rushed in an effort to simply show off the technology, not be in an actual game yet.
People, this is Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk you're talking about, of course there is a Blade Runner/GitS vibe. I cannot express enough how much I want this game. This is my most anticipated game right now, and one of my most anticipated of all time.
Everything about this looks and sounds amazing so far, but man. That logo? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/WgEp7.jpg[/img_thumb] Boss as fuck. How many modern games have logos as stylish as this?
I immediately thought of Daft Punk when I saw it :v: Somewhat similar font.
Danger, too. I'm just gonna sit here and hope that the game has a wicked soundtrack as well.
For those who haven't played the tabletop game: Night City's Psychosquad (MAX-TAC) is a special police unit that responds to situations involving cyborgs that go crazy (cyberpsychosis). They often "recruit" from the pool of cyborgs that go crazy, by reprogramming them to serve in the Psychosquad and save people to pay for their former crimes. That's what you're seeing in the trailer. It's playback of how a female MAX-TAC officer became part of the squad.
Hence why it continues to repeat "Personal Responsibility" throughout the video. It's their personal responsibility as a way to atone for their actions, such as gutting several people with advanced wolvers.
This was the message they were talking about:
Below the distortion. "And that's not all that's new! We are about to reveal our other project, which is much closer to being completed and yes, it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. You can probably guess the game we're talking about :) On the 5th of February, it will all be clear." Oh god Witcher 3 yesyesyes
Looks brilliant, does anyone else get a James Bond intro vibe from the trailer?
I haven't been this pumped up for a game in a long time. Good god, that is how you do a teaser.
Would've been nice to have less CGI and more gameplay.
Would've been nice to have less CGI and more gameplay.
This is just a teaser to show off the style they are going for, and they've said they'll do an actual trailer soon. They've also only comparatively recently started on it, they've barely gotten off the ground in many respects.
Would've been nice to have less CGI and more gameplay.
Teaser is supposed to tease you, and this is like the first material release from it meant to pump you up for it, when they release teaser it means they are working on it. Later you get trailer and gameplay footage.
Wish it wasnt just CGI. Im pumped for this but all this trailer has are pretty much still shots.
You might be in luck,
CD Projekt CEO was interviewed by TVN CNBC and had few interesting things to say: - Trailer represents the level of in-game graphics that they're aiming for. - Cyberpunk 2077 will have a much bigger marketing budget than any of their previous games, and they're confident it will be a commercial success comparable to the "big games". The most important market for C2077 will be NA. - They are about to start talks with publishers about their second title (which will be announced on 5 February). The last point suggest that we may as well see some gameplay footage from the second title.
From Neogaf. You might say "Aiming for and the final result is very different" but it seems they're aiming for 2014/2015 release, so I wouldn't be surprised if it looked like that at release.
Wish it wasnt just CGI. Im pumped for this but all this trailer has are pretty much still shots.
Well they said it's scheduled for 2015 at the earliest.
Cops always look awesome in these futuristic games, dunno why. Probably all that gear on them
That was running on some seriously high end rig though, nothing the average gamer would buy.
Except it was running on three 580's originally. Later it was "Optimized" for a single 680 Kepler on release. Optimized means they basically took off MSAA and put on FXAA. Also again, if we're looking to 2015 release, I wouldn't be surprised if that kind of "rig" would be a simply mid-high end. Not out of reach. Would you consider a computer with two 7800 GTX's high end? You can buy GPU's more powerful than both of those easily now. Like a 560 Ti probably could do it. By 2015, that kind of GPU power might be in a more managable package. Perhaps 1 high end card or two mid-high end cards. It's not speculative at all to assume that I think.
This looks like a blur(studios) trailer.
This looks like a blur(studios) trailer.
But it's not, it's made by these guys: http://www.platige.com/
I wonder if Night City is a deliberate homage to Neuromancer.
I wonder if Night City is a deliberate homage to Neuromancer.
Yeah, Mike Pondsmith did that on purpose with the original release of PnP Cyberpunk, since it was released only about four years after Neuromancer and they're both Mirrorshades-styled games.
This reminds me of that one Witcher 2 trailer featuring a boat and the "evil king hunter guy"-really awesome looking, entirely CG, but the final project wasn't too far off (though the physics was way off). I'm really excited about this; cyberpunk usually gets me hyped up.
I wonder if the year 2077 is supposed to be a reference to Fallout.
