The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt system requirements will test even the biggest of rigs

Welp, time to uninstall some games.
I wonder what they need 40gig of space for, I really hope it's just a LOT and LOT of content and not OH LOOK YOU CAN SEE THE BACTERIUM ON THIS TEXTURE, mainly when since it's a Witcher game there's going to be a brutal sharpening filter over everything anyway.
They said hundreds of times the world is going to be massive with more than 100 hours of content. Compare that to COD games that have 5-6 hour campaigns and you have no reason to complain about 40 GB. Witcher 1 was 10 GB and it was just one town and its outskirts.
recommended is only a 770? I guess the downgrade was real
why do games recommend i7s? is tw3 really gong to make use of hyper threading?
If not then my 980/i5-3570k are ready
No ones bitching about 40 gig of storage?
That's a first
Typically it's less than advertised. But also W3 is a huge world, tons of detail. Kind of reasonable it would be a big game.
40GB is nothing new. AC Unity was that, and some other, older games too.
Dammit, I was really looking forward to this but I have a 6870 :(
Does anyone else think these "requirements" are exaggerated?
Everything I've played on my new computer runs perfectly and I can even run some games at 4K, with only a i5 and a 970.
I'm all for beefy games that push hardware limits. But come on, why make a game that even a mini reactor can't run out of the gate.

I don't see what is the problem here ? FX-8350 is a relatively cheap old processor now from 2012 and the recommended GPUs are from late 2013. I think you can build a new PC for under 800$(not counting Windows) to run this on recommended. I'm not saying 800$ is not much, but it's not 2000$ much.

It's better to overstate the requirements than to understate them and get a lot of angry people who can't play the game that the box says they can play.
I just hope my 7850 can pull through. At least new video games look really good running on lowest settings. Even just looking like TW2 is really good
I meet all of these requirements and I have been considering that it's time for an upgrade LOL

It's fine for open world games to have large size requirements. There's usually a lot of stuff in them. When a short linear game requires 40GB *cough*CoDGhosts*cough* there's a problem.

It's a big open world game so it's justified.
I bitch when linear FPSes take 50 GB for no reason.
Tbh I expected heavier requirements
These requirements don't really make any sense to me. What does minimum requirements even mean these days?
I'm glad I upgraded my computer, I'm over the recommended requirements and I've got the collector's edition pre-ordered. Gonna be a good day when it's released.

Tbh a 970 is quite high end right now.
Note these benchmarks, for the 970 versus their ~recommended~
I find it weird that the i5-2500k is the minimum. I have mine OC'd to 4.4GHz and it trucks along extremely happy and I've yet to have a CPU-related FPS drop.

what. don't post about things when you're absolutely clueless

yeah, unless it absolutely relies on a massive amount of threads, it'll handle it more than good
oh, and by the way for those who wondered, a GTX 760 = ~ GTX 660Ti, so just barely above the minimum requirements in this case. A GTX 770 = ~ GTX 680
Damn.i
i have the first 2 for steam.
well looks like i have to get it for consoles then since I am still running e8500 with a 750
I'll be just fine with my GTX 780, but my FX 8150 will be somewhere between minimum and recommended. If I'm to guess TW3 will run mostly medium @ 1080p.
