The problem a lot of people have with minecraft is it isnt what we expected or wanted or promised it to be. Lets use a lego analogy (everyone likes lego) When it was indev, we were told all the great things it would be, and it looked like an unfinished lego castle. We saw the potential of this castle, it could look amazing. Like so: [img]http://i.imgur.com/SQVqA46.jpg[/img] yeah look at that potential castle, its fucking sweet. Then time went on, he started getting lazy building the castle, it started to take a long time between bricks were stacked. Then at one point the castle was just done "here its finished or whatever" [img]http://i.imgur.com/ubeB5nI.jpg[/img] There isnt even any minifigs or dragons in this! This is why Notch gets shit.

Minecraft is a great game, it gives the player a lot of freedom and allows your creativity to go crazy. It gives you enough tools to create something beautiful, handy, useful or complicated. Although I agree that Minecraft is poorly optimized and not that great. But a lot of games have been like this. Look at Stalker, it has a huge fanbase although it's has really bad animations and is badly optimized.

Really, I just love the concept of 0x10c, and if it can get developers to create clones of it then I think notch served his purpose, whether it is good or bad.

His dad struggled with alcohol and substance abuse throughout his life. Notch's father committed suicide on Dec 13th, 2011.
