Holy shit, I'm gonna have to watch a Stream of this, it'll have to be intense.
Fuck yeah, Na'Vi is joining. They are great.
MYM will win, sadly.
I can't wait for this game. I don't hate LoL, but I hope this will be my step forward.
MYM will win, sadly.
uh no, china has always dominated the DotA scene, i don't doubt a chinese team will win
I know it's a European games conference, but it's a bit weird no American/Korean Teams are playing.
Aren't both those places basically the founders of Pro-gaming?
Yeah but they obviously don't have one of the top 16 Dota teams in the world.
Buying this.
I still dont give two shits about DOTA.
Valve must have loads of emone to be able to do this
I bet Dota 2 will come out for public by the end of 2011.
Where's my Episode 3 Valve?

That's a pretty safe bet considering they just confirmed it.
$1,000,000 is nothing to Valve. They can get that in 5 minutes during a Steam sale.
Asians always win this stuff
Valve must have loads of emone to be able to do this
Well they have a good billion to play with from 2010: http://www.gamefocus.ca/?nav=new&nid=12732
Also if you add up all the secondary prizes it comes out 1.6 million to be given away.
Whoa, Valve is running pretty wild with Dota2.
And it only shows how much money they are making. Even more if they can grab the Dota community. Just.. whoa.
Everybody knows Russian team will win.
I find most Russians are quite bad at HoN, but you never know.
Well, winning a million for winning a tournament is pretty damn awesome.
Valve isn't paying for this right?
Valve isn't paying for this right?
They are
Whoa, Valve is running pretty wild with Dota2.
Not really, the prize money is likely the money they would have spent on advertisement for the game, but they probably just decided to let the internet do that for them by announcing a tournament with a $1 million prize knowing that it would spread like wildfire on the internet, thus creating more hype and/or advertisement.
What a useless waste of time game.

Trying tooooooo hard.
late but whatever

I'm worried about the prize figure. I don't know much about the Dota community, but that much money seems to suggest they're really good at it which is a bit off putting if you've never played it before.

this is nothing, they cashed out $10 million on an advertising campaign for l4d iirc

The teams that are competing are already payed to play the original game, but it's not like you'll ever play against them so you have nothing to worry about.
Dota 2 will be free to play just to remind those not up to date with the game.
Mandatory video.

In all seriousness Valve is trying to market this as much as possible to beat its competitors. And I think they will win because of steam. Its just so much more convenient to use it.

Huh. I don't think so.
