Diablo 3's online component is necessary for the way the game works.
Please, do enlighten us.
ugh but dont you see ketchup, one day when my internet is down i won't be able to play my video games!
Really, annoying? That's the best you've got?
Diablo 3's online component is necessary for the way the game works. If you don't see that, you are clearly just out to circljerk about how bad Blizzard is for whatever reason.
How is an online component necessary in a single player orientated Action RPG
Hopefully it winds up being a temporary limit until they do manage to beef up their servers...
None of this would have been necessary in the first place if you didn't have to connect to their servers to play your singleplayer game.
How is an online component necessary in a single player orientated Action RPG
yeah your opinion has now been completely invalidated. diablo was never about the single player experience and you're kidding yourself in the name of blizz hate if you think otherwise.
How is an online component necessary in a single player orientated Action RPG
it's not?
he owns the game and can form an individual opinion based on his experiences
you dont own the game
And you know this how?
"bluzzard sux drm sux dialo3 sux get owned noobs!!!1"
blizzard does suck, as a diablo 3 owner, the game does fucking suck, and you, noob, can get owned. literally. by blizzard. they'd pay you to post more propaganda.
it isn't a bandwagon when you experience firsthand how awful it is.
please, tell me more about how listening to people spam "2 BIL = $20" in chat is "part of the diablo experience"
How is an online component necessary in a single player orientated Action RPG
You just fucked up.
RMAH/gold AH, taking singleplayer characters online, Bnet integration, duping prevention, hacks/cheats prevention.
Are there not ways to prevent cheating online with out limiting single player to always online DRM?
yeah your opinion has now been completely invalidated. diablo was never about the single player experience and you're kidding yourself in the name of blizz hate if you think otherwise.
You're right about Diablo being more focused on multiplayer play but that doesn't make an always-online DRM necessary. I'd guess that the only reason it's necessary is because of the real money auction house which is a dumb substitute anyways.
And I would stop calling everyone who criticizes this game a "Blizz hater". It just makes you look like an opposite bandwagoner with your tongue shoved up Blizzard's butthole.

Mind elaborating on why it sucks, instead of just throwing out random insults like a child?
Are there not ways to prevent cheating online with out limiting single player to always online DRM?
There are, he's just jerking too hard to diablo 3 to notice.
yeah your opinion has now been completely invalidated. diablo was never about the single player experience and you're kidding yourself in the name of blizz hate if you think otherwise.
Oh my god I can't buy items from this digital shop or play coop with my friends over the internet, I could invite them over and play some LAN though!
Oh wait.
Alright, yeah I understand the auction house might play a larger role, but why must I constantly be connected to the net to play coop? Why can't me and my friends play coop with our "offline" characters or something? I see no reason for the entire game to be online just because somebody might get some extra money from duplicating items or whatever (I'm not talking about real money I mean diablo's digital currency)
Mind elaborating on why it sucks, instead of just throwing out random insults like a child?
abnormally shitty balance, lag while playing through the story by myself, terrible auction house price fluctuation, pretty much requires an authenticator to not be violated by chinese goldfarmers, overall poor handling by Blizzard.
also, the game discourages playing with other people. maybe the patch that removed damage upscaling fixed that a little, but the loot being shared still fucks you in this regard.
You just fucked up.
I've gathered
There are, he's just jerking too hard to diablo 3 to notice.
You're too worried about your ratings to form an opinion that doesn't go against the FP hivemind. That's fine though, I'm sure your digital badges will certainly mean something soon.
You're too worried about your ratings to form an opinion that doesn't go against the FP hivemind. That's fine though, I'm sure your digital badges will certainly mean something soon.
Why are you using responses I've seen spouted about 16 million times, you're forming nothing to further the development of this discussion, ever thought that he genuinely believes in those opinions? Why not try acting on what he's saying rather than going "ur 2 scared cus you want them little badges"
abnormally shitty balance,
um really? because for the most part balance has been pretty good. there were a few issues with the monk class and barb for inferno, but it has either been fixed or people realized it was supposed to be like that and they found the way around it.
lag while playing through the story by myself,
i can admit that it is not very acceptable, but it is one of the biggest PC game launches in history so it is not a huge surprise.
terrible auction house price fluctuation,
lol really? you're going to blame blizzard for something totally out of their control. it is a brand new market and no one has any idea how to price anything. this is a stupid invalidated point.
pretty much requires an authenticator to not be violated by chinese goldfarmers
also another thing that is not Blizzard's fault. stop being an idiot and falling for phishing scams or getting viruses.
overall poor handling by Blizzard.
You had one good point, nice job.
You're too worried about your ratings to form an opinion that doesn't go against the FP hivemind. That's fine though, I'm sure your digital badges will certainly mean something soon.
I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here, but I've not spoken one word about ratings, nor do they affect my opinion. You're the one claiming we're a circlejerk for not liking intrusive DRM like this, and you're the one worrying about ratings.
My opinion is my own, I can't help that people share my opinion.

But see, your opinion is wrong. You are basing your opinion off facts that are completely wrong, or that have been misconstrued over and over again by the "bandwagon".
um really? because for the most part balance has been pretty good. there were a few issues with the monk class and barb for inferno, but it has either been fixed or people realized it was supposed to be like that and they found the way around it.
no, it is not fucking fixed, monk is still completely inferior to any other class in inferno. the skill changes do not mitigate this.
edit: do you only have one inferno character? like a wizard or something? that's the only way I could think you could possibly believe this.
by the company who runs one of the biggest MMOs? yes it should be a surprise. especially for a $60 game. completely unprofessional.

the auction house browser being a piece of shit that shows limited results and doesn't allow enough specification contributes to this bullshit
also another thing that is not Blizzard's fault. stop being an idiot and falling for phishing scams or getting viruses.
yeah dude that's totally not Blizzard's fault, there are no security holes in d3, are you a total sheep?
i can admit that it is not very acceptable, but it is one of the biggest PC game launches in history so it is not a huge surprise.
Everything else you've brought up in that I don't see any issues with, I'll ignore your last statement too.
However the fact it's one of the biggest recent PC launches is an even bigger problem, yeah it's great to show the industry that the platform isn't dead, but it also shows that they can get away with it (I'm not saying that every publisher has seen it and gone "omg they did it we can too!!!!" I'm saying that it's going to be able to be shown to somebody somewhere at sometime during a board discussion meeting that it is possible. People in those positions aren't as dumb as they might seem, they could spin some argument to the community and simultaneously silence a large proportion of them because they deem it okay, as what happened with Diablo 3. I'm not attacking you for what you're saying either, so don't assume that :v:
Of you guys who are complaining about the DRM, how many of you have actually used it? Are you arguing your position from having experienced the DRM in question, or are you just ignorantly taking the position that if a game has DRM it's just bad and that there is absolutely no positive impact.
Because generally speaking, everyone I know personally who bought the game has no problems with the DRM because for the cost of the occasional annoyance caused by server outages, maitenance times, and a lag spike here and there we get quite a bit of positives.
Meanwhile everyone I know who is complaining about the DRM (again, personally, don't want to generalize) don't own the game and don't understand that there are benefits to a system that requires the client to be connected to a server all the time.
I guess actually formulating arguments and talking in threads is a lot harder then rating people dumb and moving on. We wouldn't want to have discussions that could lead to new perspectives being shown and explained on both sides. Nope just rate people dumb and move on.
But see, your opinion is wrong. You are basing your opinion off facts that are completely wrong, or that have been misconstrued over and over again by the "bandwagon".
How is my opinion wrong? Always online DRM for a single player game is horrible, the end. They could've for instance have you make a different char for the auction house, characters that can't access it which you can use for single player games or LAN coop or simply if you don't want to use the auction house, and characters that can access it. Problem solved, LAN'ers can play on a LAN, and auction'ers can play online.

It's not a singleplayer game
@ all the dumbs: Calling Diablo 3 a singleplayer game because you can start a campaign by yourself and play it is like saying WoW is a singleplayer game because you can play solo.
don't own the game and don't understand that there are benefits to a system that requires the client to be connected to a server all the time.
Such as?
no, it is not fucking fixed, monk is still completely inferior to any other class in inferno. the skill changes do not mitigate this.
edit: do you only have one inferno character? like a wizard or something? that's the only way I could think you could possibly believe this.
um actually both my main characters are barb and monk. i find ranged boring.
by the company who runs one of the biggest MMOs? yes it should be a surprise. especially for a $60 game. completely unprofessional.
lol yeah, again its not like it wasnt one of the biggest pc launches in history, and there is only so much you can do to prepare for something like that. sure they could have bought 10 million server farms, but it would have been a waste of time/money because they will never see traffic like that again. i know, it is tough to use common sense but hey someone has got to do it.
the auction house browser being a piece of shit that shows limited results and doesn't allow enough specification contributes to this bullshit
the AH does need worked on, but that was not your original point. you were blaming blizzard for something totally out of their control. cut the shit.
yeah dude that's totally not Blizzard's fault, there are no security holes in d3, are you a total sheep?
um, i need some sources or something, because afaik there has been no hacks caused by a security hole on blizzard's end.
It's not a singleplayer game
Single player game as in you're playing it alone, not as in the complete game is single player oriented. Since you can play it alone, for convenience I would call such a playtrough a singleplayer game. You're right, I should've explained that.
