Oh, they asked people to vote. Nerds love to represent their interests.
If you had a self-selected poll of IQ, the average would be 140
Notch is the second most influential person in the world? What kind of bath salts would you have to be on to even consider that?
From what I understand, based on what I hear about his work ethics, his business plans, and the general way he handles things he's probably not an individual I'd label as 'influential'. Successful, sure, but honestly based on Minecraft as well as the man himself, I can't really understand how the whole thing is so popular.
Still Prefer Infiniminer.
who the fuck is notch? isn't he the guy that went missing on vacation?
Notch comes second in reader poll for Time's Most Influential Persson in the World
FTFY. :v:
I think the reason they have him up there as a 'Influential Person' is because like many other indie developers he shows that you don't need a big publisher behind you to succeed.
no it's because minecraft has an internet following of millions of baying 12 year olds, ergo he's gonna win any internet vote
FTFY. :v:
Joke doesn't work because you pronounce his last name like Passion.
4chan managed to get Kim Jong Un, Sixth. I assume it was 4chan, but people might have seriously voted for him.
tbh, he's pretty relevant in word affairs, as of late
tbh, he's pretty relevant in word affairs, as of late
"I will bully you and throw fists at you if you don't give me your lunch and money, next day nothing happens"... definitely.
I'd hardly call getting extremely lucky influential. There are more indie teams out there setting better examples via hard work and proper interaction with their audience than him. His game got big, that's it. What happened as a result of its success is nothing to do with him.
If his game got big, wouldn't it really influence alot of people? That is what the poll was for - influence. Keep in mind Hitler won man of the year for the same reason...
why are ~gamers~ fucking up these polls just stop you don't know anything about the world around you
hey I voted him un-influential don't blame me
why are ~gamers~ fucking up these polls just stop you don't know anything about the world around you
it happens all the time, like the consumerist poll from a while ago
he made a video game
It's weird that that Chris Hadfield didn't even get a spot in the list. He's brought NASA to the social media, and influenced a ton of people to do research and get interested in space exploration. Also he has a tumblr where he regularly posts awesome pictures from space. And he's working on a music album. In space.
EA is the worst company in the world, Notch is one of the most influential in the world, nobody knows what they're doing.
To me, it points to the fact that most people on the internet have no idea what's going on in the outside world besides having to do with video games. It's really sad actually.
Well, it's being used as a form of education. Which I deeply fascinate, because learning via games is MUCH more exciting than looking at a book.. Or well, at least that's how I see it. (MinecraftEDU)
Minecraftforums.net has spoken.
What? The hell did he even influence? I don't see how making a popular video game is influential to anything.
i think it's funny how a lot of gamers are pushing for video games to be considered "art" and now when someone is getting recognized for what they do it's now just a "popular video game" i think minecraft is terrible and boring but saying notch hasn't influenced things is wrong [editline]14th April 2013[/editline] and really he doesn't belong in second but is up there somewhere
If his game got big, wouldn't it really influence alot of people? That is what the poll was for - influence. Keep in mind Hitler won man of the year for the same reason...
then why are the creators of World of Warcraft not the most influential persons of the whole god damned decade?
Whats the matter facepunch. Jealous?
FTFY. :v:
Oh wow, that actually makes a lot of sense. Göran Persson is the most influential Persson, and Markus Persson is the second-most influential Persson.
Whats the matter facepunch. Jealous?
Your smug fucking avatar just made that post.
