They should add more NPCs around, make the world more atmospheric.
The original Borderlands just felt so... empty.
Pretty sure that giant thing in the background is the satellite at the end of the first game though I haven't played Borderlands in forever since it bored me to tears.
I got bored for the 1st Borderlands quite fast.
I got the game on the Xmas Steam Sale and only played it for 11 hours. Gave up after it. I found the quests a bit repetitive.
I liked the first one even though I did most of it in singleplayer, with the ghost girl you can skip massive chunks of fighting and walking with your super speed invisibility so I guess that's what helped me not think it was so repetitive
I'm hoping it's released in 2013, last thing we need is more development rushing like with the original Borderlands that cut a lot of its potential.
I never really cared of Borderlands, one the game was kinda too easy, the 2nd is there is no loot control in multiplayer, making people loot whoring all the weapons, the 3rd is that the game is really boring. IF they don't spend their time on making this game correctly and add more things that I want to see, such as better combat and challenge, a loot system, and if there is vehicles, at least add like 10 or more, not 1 or 2. Make the storyline more interesting and less boring quests.
If I don't get any of this, I'm not buying it... I may not also buy any other products from the same team that sucks ass.
I think Borderlands is either a game you love or hate, there's nothing in between

I think it was okay, but had a lot of unused potential.
So much fun online.

In Borderland's defense, loot whoring was supposed to be countered by having a very limited backpack size. Unfortunately, since the player can adjust how big their backpack is (edit their save file manually), that counter is moot (Or, maybe "was" - haven't checked if they fixed that). All it takes in a public game is one out of the four players to have a ridiculous backpack size...
For some reason, the only part of Borderlands I found really fun when playing online co-op was the first "dungeon". Even after I got tired of co-op, starting from scratch seemed much more enjoyable. I hope they figured out why that works and expand on it.

Speaking of modding, I hope they have closed servers to prevent this sort of thing.

I would love if the online was more akin to Diablo 2 so I don't have to worry about bumping into people who mod weapons.
You can't mod it now, if you run latest patch there are no modded players

you can still mod weapons within the games random generation parameters.
I'd just rather avoid the possibility of playing with players that cheat altogether, and a closed online system is the best way to achieve that.
I hope the world is more open this time. I mean, Borderlands 1 let you explore as you pleased (most of the time at least) but all of the areas just felt like really, really wide corridors. I also hope that character customisation is a) returning and b) more than just editing the colours of your clothes this time. On top of that a more diverse selection of weapon parts wouldn't go amiss in my books either. They kind of got the whole "shitload of different weapons" thing down but they all looked pretty much the same, with incredibly small and mostly overlook-able differences. If they could at least get that stuff down, it would already be a major improvement over the first one.
Is it weird that I beat borderlands and all of it's DLC in just singleplayer? I loved every fucking second of it too, it was repetitive but the game was so good that I didn't give a shit. The game had a great atmosphere also.
Borderlands, i enjoyed 300x512 res, fucking hard to aim though...

wat.
I remember when there was that FP craze to hack borderlands weapons and people essentially made nuke launchers
Hence why you you couldnt just jump online and play the fucking thing. You needed to get a group of mates together, though that was quite fun.
I'd like to see a similar weapon system though, where the parameters are divided into parts which get matched up to create different guns. Hopefully they flesh that out a lot more though so the guns get more interesting.
So I wonder if that whole 'Guardian Angel was really a Hyperion AI' thing is going to play into this one. It was totally cryptic and I still don't get the significance of it.
Also, I imagine Atlas isn't too happy about losing one of its commandants and a chance to open the Vault, so will they play a bigger role as well?
I hope they actually encourage creating crazy weapons, like modders did before gb fixed it. Judging by the picture, (assault rifle with a minigun barrel) that's just what's going on. There would be obvious limitations, like a gatling rocket launcher... actually that sounds amazing.
I hope we get some interactions with the old characters, I'm one of those players who just adore having connections to what happened (especially going to places in a previous game in the new one) story-wise, especially when you see / learn things about them canon.
I'll be sure to keep an eye on Borderlands 2
