Occupy Everything!
There's people protesting, so let's steal their name and use it to get attention to our boycotting of some program!
HTML5 should be used for somethings videos not everything
Why not everything? HTML5 is open and real fast, does everything flash does and can be generated much like flash (I think CS5 can create html5 like flash).
Occupy flash? Wow great way to abuse the occupy name for something that will come by itself if you just wait.
Exactly, Google has already dropped it completely (except for Youtube, and even that has a html5 option).
Should have named it Occupy HTML5...
Uh
because that's how it becomes a standard?
And how can it become a standard when it isn't even fully finished yet?
When development on HTML5 is done and it will have the same capabilities Flash has, it become a standard.
But until then, Flash won't die.
won't this destroy newgrounds
People still go there?
Do people still go to flashplayer.com or whatever it was, and that one site with the blue clamation people?
i don't like flash but piggybacking off of the occupy protests to protest flash is really stupid
how am i supposed to play Binding of Isaac without flash
if they want to boycott something that is holding the web down, fucking boycott internet explorer
why? mostly because popular versions of IE dont support HTML5, which means they'll be stuck using flash
HTML5 can't completely replace Flash, but it can be used as a lighter alternative in most situations.
Completely abandoning Flash is stupid since there's no true replacement for it yet for more complex things.
it's understandable they want to push for further development and spread of HTML5, especially since I've encountered PLENTY of badly coded flash ads that gimped even the most powerful computer.

What sites still use flash? I mean most users just go to Facebook or Youtube, and with the latter support Youtube I don't see how flash is relevant to most people.

Pretty much most browser games?
Like Newgrounds.com?

There's still a need for functions that's in Flash that HTML5 can't replace.
It'll take YEARS before a worthy Substitute will be ready.
Give javascript proper media API's for video/audio streaming, webcam and mic access, then it will be good for nearly everything.
