What a fucking joke. Valve should feel ashamed of themselves.
The community voted. And when the community votes, it's always going to be shit.
The community voted. And when the community votes, it's always going to be shit.
Holy shit I feel dumb. I thought Valve picked the candidates. I'm sorry :v:
Almost nothing I voted for won. That would be impressive if it wasn't so fucking sad.
I'm amused that 4/5 of the games listed under "Better With Friends" along with the winner, are games that were built from the ground up to be multiplayer games. I guess it's accurate in that a multiplayer game that can't be played by yourself is a lot more fun when you have people to play with. It's not fun at all alone because it can't be played. I also said to my friends on the first day of the vote that "Best Use Of A Farm Animal" only exists to get Goat Simulator an award which was also amusing. [editline]1st January 2017[/editline]
If we're to talk about personal nominations... • Villain Most in Need of a Hug: Tales of Symphonia (Yes, the port sucks, but those who played the original GameCube game will know exactly why. Those who haven't... I'd have to spoil the game) • I thought this game was cool before it won an award: Age of Wonders 3 (Bringing a Win9x game back from the dead won't win any popularity contests (XCOM is an isolated scenario), and a game like AoW3 proves that a really good 4X/RPG hybrid with battles having their own dedicated combat UI proves that sometimes, you just can't sell a game purely on merit.) • Test of Time: Probably a tough choice. Probably a tie between Age of Empires 2 and the original Half-Life 2. AoE2 for being a 1999 game still in active development and with a large player base. Meanwhile, if you look at Half-Life 2 from a technological standpoint, the visual feats will likely need their own bullet points • Just Five More Minutes: XCOM: Enemy Within. Getting into the game isn't all that easy, though when you learn the game's quirks, you will eventually find yourself in a position where you tell yourself "just one more mission" until the sun starts shining. • WOAH DUDE: I don't even get what the point of this award is. I thought it was just something that is extremely good at kicking names and taking ass, so I figured Doom would've been a good nominee. • Game within a game: Garry's Mod, due to the crazy things you can do with Lua coding. • I'm not crying, there's something in my eye: Agreeing with TWD, though i'm surprised it beat Undertale, being a game developed by a company who's target audience consists of 90s kids who grew up with LucasArts adventures like Sam & Max Hit the Road, Full Throttle, etc.
• Villain Most in Need of a Hug: Undertale - Self explanatory. • Test of Time: DOOM II - Still play this game regularly today. Picked DOOM II over The Ultimate DOOM because most mods are made on DOOM II • Just Five More Minutes: Terraria - Always something else to do, just a little bit more. • WOAH DUDE: Elite Dangerous - Flying around in space and seeing the awesome sights and epic battles is always nice, and I'll never forget the first time I made a jump. • Game within a game: Saints Row IV - Loved all the minigames in all the Saints Row games. • I'm not crying, there's something in my eye: Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons - One of the only games to actually make me full-on cry. • Best Use Of A Farm Animal: Payday 2 - Sure it's because of the Goat Sim spinoff but stealing goats with drugs in them should count because it's an actually practical, if twisted, use of a farm animal. • I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award: Styx: Master of Shadows - a little-known stealth game that I think did wind up winning a few awards that is one of the most solid stealth games in a while. [editline]1st January 2017[/editline]
really dont understand why everybody is throwing a shitfit all of them make sense except for csgo, gta5 and goat sim
I don't really play CSGO, but I think it makes sense. "Just one more round, and then I will leave" is a thought that probably went through many, many players' heads.
