Cant seem to find it, is it because i'm in New Zealand? Fuck.
To be quite honest, I really enjoy the game analysis at the end.
I think the MP is pretty fun. Also, the graphic options are awesome. You can even turn off lens flare for you lens flare haters
Cant seem to find it, is it because i'm in New Zealand? Fuck.
It's in the 'Demos' section instead of 'Free Games'.
Isn't this old news? There was the beta/alpha thingy awhile back, like months ago?
Isn't this old news? There was the beta/alpha thingy awhile back, like months ago?
This is open beta. The other was closed.
I wouldn't really bother, I'm basically not a fan of Crysis or Crytek, the game is probably not gonna start up due to Origin's lousy programming and I'd rather stick to Steam's no-EA zone than giving money to EA
Steam has always been a frustrating experience to use for me personally. Downloading and updating games is usually a nightmare, it randomly pauses updates and won't continue to download unless I restart it, completely removing all the games content when it tries to update them to a newer format, and it locks up all the time when trying to do anything. [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] Anyway the beta for Crisis 2 was okay I guess if you like call of duty clones. I don't expect this to be any different.
Meh, Crysis 2's multiplayer was pretty shit.
It was so unbalanced it's not even a joke how bad it is. Crysis 3 seems fun but also kind of the same way. Seems less glitchy though, and that's a good sign in a beta. [editline]29th January 2013[/editline]
I don't know if I had graphical bugs or what but I didn't see them across rooms
It's pretty hard to see the fuckers when my machine struggles to run the game at 20 FPS on Ultra
The beta's actually pretty fine. It's a refreshing take on CoD's run & gun gameplay with some neat things, I actually had some good fun on it with the nanosuit and the guns feel just right. Also went really well on my first matches, maybe because I've been replaying Crysis 2 recently :v:
i remember downloading the closed beta and having it crash on startup
If everybody here's saying its closer to Crysis 2's MP than Crysis 1's, I'll pass. I think the singleplayer in Crysis 2 was actually better than Crysis 1, but the MP was absolute crap.
aaaand it runs like doodie can max out crysis 1 and 2 fine, this one chugs below 30fps [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] and looks the same as crysis 2 might i add.
It's SO GENERIC. Class based death match. It's just boring. I have played that 5000 times before and I've been bored of it for years. Why can't they make something new and imaginative? The only new things I've spotted are: - Some greenery added to C2 scenery. Well done. - A bow and arrow (an addition which angers me immensely). It's just.. been done before. Some other points: - What is it with weapons in new games making rubbish noises? Weapons don't make soft page-turning like noises. They make short sharp cracks and bangs. Same with grenades, rocket launchers and other stuff. Why are the weapons so effing boring? I understand the need for conventional rifles, shotguns and the like. I like them. But we're in the future, with aliens! Throw in a massive destructo-lazer beam which blows up 5 people at a time! The alien weapon I got my hands on in this beta was just as unimaginative and boring as conventional weapons. - Why is the environment so uninteractive? Yes - it looks good. But if I can't play around with it, it is boring. What happened to the destruction from C1? That was brilliant fun to play around with. At the very least let me pick things up and throw them at people. It wouldn't even matter if it was ineffective, it would be a good addition to the game. - I don't feel like I'm in a hyper advanced super ultra soldier nano suit. I know this is a difficult concept to get across when everyone has one, but there are a few things you could do. For instance, if the environment was destructible. You would actually feel like you could do something a normal person couldn't - and you'd have people throwing rocks and debris at each other and pulling buildings down ,rather than just shooting. I can use guns in other games, where my character doesn't have a nanosuit. Maybe they could have a game mode where only one person has the suit, and everyone else is just a bog standard bloke. That way you'd actually fear whoever had it, and have to team up with other players to bring down the suited person. Whoever got the kill would then get the suit. Then you'd feel really powerful and watch the other players attempt to form a defence against you. I think that would be rather fun. Perhaps if the suit itself took damage and it's effects because less pronounced when you were shot? If you were hit in the legs the enhanced jump would stop working, or in the arms your weapon would become less accurate and your strength would be lowered? - I feel less like a superman and more like a 5 year old girl guide when I am armed with a bow and arrow. Armies in real life have a reason for not using hyper advanced bows - they are not useful in the modern warfare scenario. What's wrong with a silenced rifle? - It seems ridiculously similar to C2. The menus - and even the loading screens are almost identical. it just feels (again) like I'm playing something I've played before. Huff. There are so many cool things they could have done with this game and it's engine. But I am so utterly unimpressed with that MP.
In Crysis 2 there is a game mode where it's Nanosuit users with small guns vs marines with rifles and shotguns. But I honestly think you're expecting too much. To be fair, ever since the first trailer of Crysis 3 it was already doomed to be nothing new.
Let's get something straight guys, hunters aren't overpowered, it's not team deathmatch, the point of the Cell team is to avoid conflict altogether, i mean sure go ahead and run around being rambo like in cod or whatever but it won't help you with the idea of 'winning', it's a pretty stressful mode, like there you are camping in the tunnel hearing the radar beep and beep and beep and suddenly one of your team mates yells "We can't stay here!", very unsettling. The graphics are obviously much better than crysis 1 and crysis 2 (without the hirez textures), there are still problems with texture streaming on pretty much everything but it's probably my pc's fault for running shitty ram and hard drive, though, from the alpha to the beta it runs far smoother, much much better thankfully, apparentely my 7850 is shit because it gave me DXGI_DEVICE_REMOVED or something, driver crashing all over the place, my card is factory overclocked from 860 to 900MHz, i had to underclock back to 850 to be safe, and the game ran flawlessly, only crashed once in a 3 hour session, in comparison before it was every 5 minutes. BF3 also crashed my drivers, so i'm happy i killed two birds with one stone. Looks like there will be a multiplayer mode where you play as the aliens, saw something about this in the loading screen's hints. Also will we be playing as psycho? there's a command _psychopsycho or something, forgot the first letter. i hope so, he was a badass, now, i fucking want powerstruggle and crysis will never be the same also everyone says crysis 1 and crysis wars is the shit yet no one plays it, there's about 100 servers but during peak only 3 or 4 servers are full, so come on guys play some crysis wars!
But I honestly think you're expecting too much.
Yeah.. I guess. It'd be nice to have something just a bit different though, rather that Call of Duty.. again.
Welp, that was fast. [img_thumb]https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/778728_574752725887280_1221715429_o.jpg[/img_thumb]
Steam has always been a frustrating experience to use for me personally. It sometimes says it's suspended (Now that is a problem, small but annoying), which I can solve by pausing and then continuing it. I don't have to restart Steam, perhaps you're just unlucky? Either way, Valve should put some more time into this. Also Garry, at least you should cheer up for being on Steam instead of Origin (EA only has games it publishes, some which'll sooner or later be Internet-only)
That's why I think Origin is a good thing, hopefully if it starts growing more...
Hello, EA fanboy! How do you like the Overhyped Sellout Lens Flare Dubstep War Zombies HD franchise? Because, EA is not going to give you any good customer support (just newcomers without any kind of training whatsoever)
Hello, EA fanboy! How do you like the upcoming Overhyped Sellout Lens Flare Dubstep War Zombies HD franchise? Because, EA is not going to give you any good customer support (just newcomers without any kind of training whatsoever)
Oh, I must have missed the definition of 'fanboy' being changed to "anyone who doesn't jump on hate bandwagons every chance they get" Yes, EA have bad business practices and Origin has stupid pricing, but it has a nice UI and for me handles smoothly whereas Steam feels very bloated and slow at times. I say Origin is a good thing, because monopolies are always bad, even if the best company in the world has one. Valve would be the first to admit that competition is healthy, and to be honest the Steam client could do with some improvements.
Crysis 1 multiplayer had a nice, smooth, fast paced feel, the hitboxes were pretty bang on too. I'm guessing this one is more like Crysis2 though, shame.
Tried out the beta. It's just like Crysis 2's multiplayer, warts and all. You still have no idea where you're getting shot from, the nanosuits are still made out of tissue paper, people who have played longer have a total advantage over others, the sound effects are fucking awful, the gunplay is dull, and the game modes are boring. Hunter could have been good but because everyone starts spread everywhere it becomes a clusterfuck of people trying to group up by sprinting around the map and idiotson the CELL side trying to take on the hunters.
To be honest, between Steam and Origin, Steam is pretty much the one that's badly programmed, what with freezing up for several seconds when it looks for game updates or starts up one
Huh, I thought I was the only one.

is this series destined to be like the cod series churning essentially the same garbage over and over again, just with slightly different stuff
Eh, I'll download it overnight and check it out after work. [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] Also, I can pretty much max it out according to the Hi-Performance specs. >:)
like ive been saying since the game was announced its some stupid gimmick where they noticed other game protagonists have eccentric trademark weapons so they added the bow because hey why not
I know it's a gimmick! Why do they have to fall back to gimmicks to sell a game that should be genuinely good though. Why can't they rely on the game actually being good. It's almost as if they're admitting it's crap before it's out the door. BF3 got a wretched crossbow recently. It disgusts me.
WARNING: PERSONAL OPINION It sucks. Give me my crysis 1 back.
Crysis 1 power struggle was the best
