Nice and all the 100 players but in reality its either going to be a big deathmatch in the middle of the field or its going to end up like MAG where people just get confused and stop playing. If you were going to make a 50 vs 50 game, make it a crazy shootfest like Battlefield 2 or Unreal Tournament 2004
Confirmed to have never played PR, It's spawn system prevents shit like that from happening because you can't spawn in when enemies are near, the only way in is getting there from other FOB's and either walking(lol) or getting a Transport
will do and only reason i brought mag up was the maximum was 250 players total so the battlefield was immense and the battles were rough so i hope its the same for this game
MAG was bad imo. While the design was flawed, it still had potential, as did the game in general. It's the players that ruined it. Well the players and how the game was small deathmatches for the first half of a match, then converged onto a clusterfuck. The progression in maps definitely needed work, as did some of the horribly one sided maps. PR definitely did the massive battle idea better.
i was trying to find the name of this game like 2 weeks ago! Looks fun.
MAG was more casual arena-y shooter on a large scale. This is much more slow-paced, comprehensive, and overall team oriented. Not your usual gungho-yolo cod play style.

I'd only look into this once the military factions are revealed. Tired of playing games where backwater terrorists are on the same level as, like, Force Recon, it's kind of annoying

PR had dutch armed forces, french forces (masquerading as a UN peacekeeper force), chechen rebels, german forces, african rebels, etc.
I really wish they didn't give it the generic fps look.
I really wish they didn't give it the generic fps look.
what else are they going to give it? cel-shading with an emphasis on black bordering?
Usable gun mechanics?
arma 3's gun mechanics are p great. especially now with bipods, weapon resting and revised recoil.
I'm honestly quite optimistic about where this game is going. Though I expected the opposite, they've showcased a couple of features and hinted at even more that I really hoped they would include. If it's reminiscent of the pre-PR.98 experience, I'll be more than happy and that's the way they seem to be going, undoing some of the damage done to me by the changes in PR 1.0. The main problem I forsee is people jumping over to it from PR, or people in general playing it for a while and burning out due to lack of content before it's updated in big ways. They'll have to keep a really high pace with adding new factions, maps, vehicles and vehicle classes to get it on par with PR and keep it fresh.
It looks interesting, but why would I buy this and not ARMA 3? I didn't see anything new or different that ARMA isn't capable of.
Project Reality has focus. You're able to play Project Reality to its fullest potential without being the member of a super sekrit high speed low drag clan that takes 3 new members a year and actually has the people talented and willing enough to make missions and a player base large enough to do interesting things with but mature enough to actually do what they're supposed to do. I keep saying "Project Reality" instead of "Squad" because Squad has a long ways to go before there's any reason to play it over PR. That's probably doomed to kill it. There will be no real reason to play it on launch, no reason for the community to migrate to a product that will be lesser on release in practically all manners except graphical fidelity, and no reason for the developers to continue to support it when they have no support themselves from the community. If they wanted to make PR:BF2 obsolete from the start they would have to nearly equal the content at launch. I do not see that being the case. PR:BF2 has been in active development for around 10 years.
I had no idea this existed!
what else are they going to give it? cel-shading with an emphasis on black bordering?
Preferably something that doesn't make it look boring to watch.
I'm definitely going to be getting this.

If you watch any actual gameplay videos, you can tell this is going to end up as more of a bland and typical battlefield game but with more players, and a slight emphasis on squad-based teamwork that is really just the dev's trying to play it off, rather than it actually existing. It doesn't look at all like a proper successor to project reality, even at this early of a stage they seem to have established that.
If it's like Project Reality was, you'll have multiple medic items for different situations. Whether to resuscitate or just heal, revive, etc.
Man, I demand the ability to use defibrillators on people who got blown up by a tank, then run over by the aforementioned tank.
Preferably something that doesn't make it look boring to watch.
But games like this are always boring to watch, that's why you have to play them.

PR perfectly fit the niche of a more compelling and authentic experience than battlefield without most of the quirks of ArmA that often hinder its playability and as Mastermaul put it, the focus that it doesn't have. The difference between this and PR is that PR wasn't a commercial game - It was a relatively obscure mod throughout its life-span and it was people who were seeking that specific experience that ended up finding and enjoying it. People worked together because they wanted to. What I'm afraid of is that for this to be a commercial success, it will end up having to appeal to both ends of the arcade/realism spectrum and it's already visible on the forums that people are expecting completely different things from the game. In PR, the gameplay was typically dictated by the players and I expect that on release, the number of players who played PR for the reasons I said above will be overshadowed by those looking for a game closer to BF or Insurgency. While the game can be designed with teamwork-facilitating/necessitating features, it's up to the players to choose whether to put them to use and depending on how many of each type of player ends up buying it, it could go either way. I'm hoping that it's a similar experience to PR but while the gameplay might end up nearly identical, that counts for nothing if the majority of players are trying to play it as if it were battlefield. The only way I can see that being mitigated at all is if the gameplay its self is punishing enough that those closer to the arcade end of the spectrum will be turned off. Then, as I mentioned earlier, is the question of content. I'm bored to shit of middle-eastern counter-insurgency scenarios myself and with the time it'll likely take them for each model, texture and map, I don't think we'll be seeing it anywhere near equal to PR any time soon.
Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
no magical heal beam, and getting shot in the ass probably would make you fall on your face
The trailer looked really dull, like, it had nothing special in it
It hasn't been in development for very long, but they've made a lot of progress in a small amount of time. I expect the full thing to play a lot like Project Reality, but with non-archaic shooting mechanics. One of my biggest gripes with PR was the random aiming deviation
its a realistic modern tactical shooter yeah it needs more pyros and loud colors and hats and unusual effects
All I'm trying to say it needs a style to it Most modern shooters nowadays do, look at Battlefield, there's a certain flair to it This just looks uninspired
All I'm trying to say it needs a style to it Most modern shooters nowadays do, look at Battlefield, there's a certain flair to it This just looks uninspired
Yeah, lens flair It's a tactical fps, not a beauty pageant contestant
