To be honest, this is something that I simply can't get myself to understand. I've discussed it with a few of my buddies who tell me they can't tell the difference and I just have not been able to figure it out. From my viewpoint, the difference between SD and HD (with a good source anyway) really is a night/day difference.
Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

That wasn't what I was trying to say. I'm simply surprised that you could afford two HD systems which, unless you got a killer deal, would set you back at least $600, but you don't have an HDTV to play them on when you could have gotten one for the price of one of those consoles. That's all I meant by it.

It's not that big of a deal on a normal sized HDTV.
This shouldn't surprise anyone. Split-screen itself is horrible, but playing split-screen on a non-HDTV would be like playing at the worst imaginable resolution.
Just use your monitor then.

You clearly missed the glory days of split-screen gameplay. Some of my fondest gaming memories were playing Halo 2 or Crash Team Racing with a few friends around.
