• Rage “is not dead," says Id’s co-founder Tom Willits

Rage has been out for, I dunno however long, but I can still not actually play the game. I get like .5fps after the intro video and I have no idea how to fix it. I have a Phenom II X4 955 and a HD5830 so I should definitely be able to play it.
I am glad, I actually enjoyed Rage.
There's really no reason for you to hate the main enemies really, I got more pissed off at the bandits then I did at the authority iirc that was their name. I liked the racing in it although it got boring fast.
It felt like they made gameplay, but forgot to make a story.
If there's a sequel (which there probably should be, considering id can do better,) I really hope they focus on the flaws of RAGE: - It wasn't amazing, or awful, it was pretty decent here and there but overall it was pretty underwhelming. It sort of lingered between "kind of good" and just "good." Although, if id listens, then a sequel could have great potential to be worth while. - The combat and AI were pretty decent, and it didn't seem like the AI was dumb enough to willingly plant its face on the end of your barrel every time you walked into a room. - As stated by someone at id before the game's release, "monster closets" wouldn't be in RAGE. I honestly think that they should have been present throughout the game. The enemies weren't much of a challenge, unless you were fighting mutants in that mutant slaughterhouse arena place. At times, the AI could become instantly predictable and taking out any enemies wouldn't be a hassle at all. Unless, of course, there was a group bigger than you could handle, or if they constantly used grenades. - A RAGE sequel should be more open with more diverse sections and areas. There were quite a few enticing look areas in the game that I thought I'd be able to enter, only to later find out that they were just big doors meant to be eye candy. If id can expand upon the universe and lore of RAGE much more, then it could be a whole lot better. Being able to explore the wasteland further should be a top priority on id's part, as the linearity of how you would travel got kind of repetitive and boring at times. - At least put more lively characters in the game. Cuz I mean for Christ' sake, the most interesting character in the game was that weirdo shop keeper in Wellspring. It felt like the characters you would come across were either boring or not very memorable at all. Dan Hagar is an exception to this, and I liked hearing John Goodman as a character. Also, please, get a more varied cast of voice actors! Phil Lamarr is pretty good (but it felt weird hearing him play another big guy that wasn't Sig.) Also, Steve Blum is always Steve Blum (he voiced Captain John Marshall in RAGE,) I have never heard any variation in the characters he has voiced. Ever. - The game, or at least certain areas of it, weren't that lengthy at all. I didn't mind the linearity of it, as I didn't like having to worry about any possibly bad/good endings I would miss out on (although I absolutely adore making choices and having to deal with the rewards/consequences in RPGS and RPG-like games.) But, even though the game wasn't very long at all, I did manage to put in about 60 hours over the course of a few playthroughs. That surprised even me. - (This isn't a flaw, just thought I'd point this out) The weapons and crafting system (although I was skeptical of it fitting in, at first,) are just fine the way they are. They need no changes whatsoever (unless they add new weapons and usable/craftable items,) and hopefully id will know that. - At least half or more of the races should've been more challenging, in my opinion. Most of the time, all you had to do was maybe use turbo once, and make sure you slipped your way into first place. It was a cake walk most of the time. I think that more races and different kinds of vehicular challenges would be pretty cool additions as well. - The ending was god awful, in my opinion. The final level felt way too short, there wasn't much of a challenge in getting to the final area, and the ending cutscene felt thrown in. If the franchise truly isn't dead, then hopefully anything that could happen in a possible sequel will provide a nice plot that can put together something enjoyable following it. I mean, come on, [sp]you push the button, wait a bit, then push the button again in order to send out a message that would activate the other Arks and make them surface. I'm wondering if id was planning on making RAGE a one-shot deal during development.[/sp]
Best part of RAGE was bunnyhopping and never using a car. Made the game super fun for me. but of course the best reason is Loosum Hagar, the wingstick trainer
She could have been a great character/companion. I wish id focused more on characters, which was obviously missing.
rage is a good game, it's just that everyone expected it to be the second coming of shooter games even though none of the videos made it look like that so they all got pissed off at it I however went in with incredibly low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised
I don't think that's the whole story at all. I expected it to be mediocre(like the videos) and then it was worse than I thought. Of all the 2011 releases, this just barely beats DNF as my second to least favorite. Honestly, after playing it, I cant possibly understand how someone can think this is a good game for any reason except buyer's remorse/id pity

But anything seems great when compared to DNF
It was fun until the game just stopped. I'm saying it stopped because that game did not have an ending. It dragged down the whole game. Also, there wasn't much to do in the large open world they had
It became nothing more than "go into this bandit hideout, shoot everyone. Wash, rinse, repeat. You win."
But the driving was pretty fun! I think. Last time I played it was something like 2 years ago and the ending was so shitty that I never played it again.
I stopped when they made me start driving. Just make a linear FPS again ffs!
