What's with a lot of phone manufacturer thinking it's trendy to remove the headphone jack?
What's with a lot of phone manufacturer thinking it's trendy to remove the headphone jack?
For Apple - they get to sell more Bluetooth headphones of Beats brand, and they stated long time ago, that their vision for iPhone is being fully wireless. Others - because Apple did it, duh.
Android brands jizz everywhere at the thought of copying Apple despite the fact their customers clearly pick Android specifically because it's not Apple.
Pretty sure the majority (not necessarily the vast majority but still the majority) of Android's userbase bought an Android phone because it's cheaper or came with their prepaid phone plan. Not because "fuck apple."

My phone wasn't really any cheaper than an iphone 7 would have been (obv the 8 wasn't out then)
My phone was no cheaper than the iPhone of the time. I got it because it had more shit in it.
Yes, I understand that most anecdotes on Facepunch will probably be buying high end Android phones as opposed to iPhones. However, the average joe user will probably just be looking for a cheap phone that lets them use facebook and watch videos and make phone calls and text or snapchat. For example, my boyfriend, who is far from a power user, got a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime because it felt good in his hand and was something like $100. Even with a payment plan, an iPhone or higher end android phone wasn't an option for him, and he's not exactly alone in that aspect. Small-time budget cell providers like Boost Mobile or Metro PCS aren't going to be selling many iPhone X's, or Galaxy S8's. For the overwhelming majority of people a simple 16GB bargain basement budget phone is going to be a far better proposition than an iPhone or a Galaxy S8. There's also huge markets in china, for example, where Android is very dominant because of the pricing. I get that a lot of high end android phones are sold to people who favor them over Apple. However, there are way more lower-end phones shipping than high-end phones. It's just nobody brags about them.

You're not even considering that the people buying cheap phones actually still want an android phone, they just can't afford the expensive one they actually want. I haven't seen any hard numbers on which is more prevalent, but you could probably take a guess based on how well android flagships sell vs ios ones.

It was the fully kitted model, so not cheaper than most iPhones. Most Android phones I see in the real world are top-end Galaxy or Notes. Only with other tech-savvy people do I really see cheaper Android phones, and that's usually because they own multiple of them.
