"Expanded Universe" is crap. Just because it's claimed to be cannon doesn't mean it can really be considered. I mean, most of it wasn't even made by Bungie.
I never new that Facepunch had such fanwankery for Halo. It's a good game series but it's just not a good idea to make a movie out of it, unless you want it to be a big-dumb blockbuster.
Even a webseries can still have the same faults as a movie. To me, it looks very generic. (which can be attributed to the fact that many series did indeed copy Halo so many times that now the source material itself is stale.)

Oh, and you guys still didn't name a trait yet.
Fanwankery for halo?
Get some of those spelling mistakes corrected.
I love halo and I don't own any console, I just love halo from playing halo 1 etc on pc because it is a good game series.
I'm not even a huge Halo fan and I think it looks neat. Cheesy, but neat.
Have you read the books? Have you watched the Halo media from the expanded universe? Better yet, have you even listened to the dialog of John in any of the Halo games, he has a sense of humor, and a personal connection to Cortana, expressed through dialog.
By the way, the web series is supposed to introduce people to Halo who didn't really show an interest in it before. So showing the main character of the franchise is kind of important. Also the books are canon, however if a newer game where to conflict with the book lore, the game would have higher priority. I can't see this happening though because 343 wants Chief to be like how he is in the books for the new trilogy.

Most of it was made by writers who worked closely with Bungie and Bungie has confirmed that they are cannon.

The expanded universe is crap? Most of it wasnt even made by Bungie ? Is that a fucking joke? Every single piece of the Halo universe is carefully constructed and directed to the specifications of The caretakers of the franchise. Whether its Bungie or 343i. So all because I know what I am talking about I am a fanwanker? You don't like what you have seen? Fine. You are intitled to an opinion. However it does not give you the right to be rude, especially since you're wrong.
I really just wish the character was a marine. ODST's are cool but all they ever make them into is OMG LONE STAR SUPER SPEC OPS. Spartans are pretty much the same thing, marines have military organization and their role pretty much requires them to be humanized.
They're not ODSTs, I think they're just regular marines.
There is nothing indicating they're ODSTs in any of the Dialogue.

In the very beginning dude, their whole plan was to use HEV pods to drop in.
Oh right, right. And the Chant from the teaser trailer "Helljumper, Helljumper"
hey it's that chick from chronicles of narnia

If they are meant to be ODST, then I'm dissapaointed that they weren't wearing the ODST helmets.

They are in training, I doubt they would have cutting edge supplies.

I have to agree with you on this because of what I've read from the books they get pretty dumb and turn the Spartans into basically the Fantastic 4 with mind reading powers or something, they also get slow-mo which is called "Spartan Time". Granted This is mostly second hand information though from like 2007 since I couldn't even get past the prologue of Halo: Fall of Reach because of how bad I found it to be.
The only time I ever seen the term 'Spartan Time' was in a Fanfic.

My years of browsing the internet have murdered my ability to make the distinction- are you trolling, or do you really not have any idea what you're saying?
This is made by the studio that's handling Halo 4 and the series from here on out. Bungie gave the new studio and productions their blessing (and several employees). I don't know what you're saying with most of the expanded universe not being made by Bungie, several of the books were written by Joseph Staten, who was one of the main writers of the series.

It's in Fall of Reach, too, I think. But there are elements of TFOR what can be ignored or were effectively retconned. It's simply stated that part of the Spartan IIs enhancements was the reflex improvements (which you no doubt know, Tuskin- just providing some background), and that they give the perception of slowed down time to Spartans.

Learn the facts of Master Chief before you continuing saying stuff that is false.
May I also add that in First Strike (and probably other Halo books, that's the only one I've read), he shows care for his squad and other marines. The book even covers him having to decide the fate of Avery Junior Johnson, whether to follow orders or listen to Halsey and protect him. It explores how loyal he would go.
[editline]15th July 2012[/editline]
Also in Halo 3 he obviously mourns Johnson's death and gains a personal grudge against the forerunners.
I found it kind of awesome how they expanded a lot on Johnsons backstory.
Looks pretty damn good, though the gigantic 117 on the Spartan's chest looks goofy as hell. Also, why didn't they get Steve Downes to voice the Master Chief?
Agreed. I mean it's not like they are gonna take his mask off so it makes no sense not to have him voice it over. Instead they have the 6"8 juggernaut in the armour doing an impression, and while it isn't what I'd call bad, that's not the point. His voice is to noticeably different.
If it weren't for the noted amount of actors I actually recognize from Sci Fi TV and a handful of movie actors I'd probably only watch this as an afterthought. Hope it does well though.
Looks awful.

Sometimes I can't tell if you are trolling, or just really have no clue to what you are talking about when it comes to Halo.
It wasn't Gaelic and it was not made just for the trailer, look it up.
Yea I know it wasn't made for the trailer but the the song is some Welsh pop rock song and not the dramatic music.
The band has an Irish name and the Welsh/Gaelic languages sound similar so fuck off mate.
