OStracised no more: Windows 8 now accounts for nearly a fifth of Steam users

I upgraded to windows 8 and haven't looked back. Faster boot, start straight into desktop solves the start tile issue, better framerate in some games, nothin' to complain about.
I'm switching to Linux soon.
Everyone one has their own taste in everything.
its still garbage
Yeah no, windows 8 takes longer than windows 7 to start on my pc. Windows 7 was something like 20 seconds and 8 is about 25.
My computer boots and I'm on the desktop and loading Steam within 30 seconds.

I actually found it worth the 100$
it just windows 7 except they changed some of the interface and made it more confusing and difficult to use and then 8.1 adds the exciting new feature of breaking your wifi and then reverting back to 8 breaks ALL of your programs and you have to reinstall them all.

and ffs they arent called apps they are called programs
sure, more confusing, if you are an 80 year old man who knows jack shit about computers, then again, it'd probably be easier than windows 7.
seriously, whats faster than WinKey-S, type program name, done. Or, no minimizing, just get to the shortcuts
the apps and apps store are a joke, but programs are obviously still there and metro start menu's just good to clean the desktop / I've noticed at least 5-25 seconds have been removed from selecting a program, now it takes at most, 1-5 seconds, search is massively improved as well, taking only seconds when manually looking for some shitty song took many folder clicks.
V but of couse as a note V
I just don't really care to upgrade, I'm good with 7.
if you have windows 7, unless you really like the metro key (if you use it you'll like it, you can get a program for w7 start menu anyways), it's basically just a cleaner windows 7, nothing really that much better.
Skip windows 7 if you have vista or XP for some insane reason, cheaper and pretty much the same just cleaner.
people don't like change, and i have to admit, i'm one of them. i want my start button. i don't want tiles. i just want it the same as it's always been.

I thought the same thing until I tried it and got used to it, now I can't imagine going back. It's better.

there are multiple start menu programs but don't know how well they work but I like it way way better anyways.

People think they use the start button until they actually get Windows 8, not once have I every really needed to use the start button at all. And if you do need to, right click and everything you need is there from the old start, only in plain text.
Using Win 8.1 with Classic Shell, forgot about the metro UI. I am getting tired of people complaining that I say I like 8.1 but I use Classic Shell, get over it. I got Win8 for UEFI mode and better CPU handling, not its UI.

the thing could run on rainbows and sunshine and be able to make 10 year hardware like new and people would still complain about the change that can be made nonexistent through simply googling "w8 start menu"

Funnily enough, it did make my 6-8 yr old tablet PC run like new...
I've got no reason to upgrade. If it was free, I would jump on it, but Windows 7 serves me perfectly fine.

Bunch of spoiled, entitled brats.

And that's pretty much the bottom line. If you're on Windows 7, there's no big hurry to upgrade to Windows 8. If you're on Windows 8, there's no reason to downgrade to 7. Most interface quirks have simple workarounds.
