What's wrong with nexus? Never had any trouble with it.
Besides having to sign up to download mods? Bloated.
Scotland1 is a butthurt box-lover [editline]1st December 2011[/editline] Also this is neat
and suppertime
Nude mods everywhere.
It would be nice if they would release the construction set finally .........
Really awesome how they embrace mods rather than shun them, as most devs do.
Thats the greed for money.
I got really pissed and weirded out because i instantly linked "Workshop" to "DLC cash shop items" because TF2 is the only game using it This thing will be a godsend, since i fucking hate Nexus sites.
I don't have any issues with the nexus. I sign up, download the shit I want, and leave. If I want more mods? I just go back, download more mods, and leave again. Seriously I don't see why you all hate it.
Seriously I don't see why you all hate it.
we all mildly tolerate it but if it can be done using steam why not
My god yes.

I'm not so sure about this being a godsend really. I'm expecting alot of moderation on content.
Will this allow for installing script extender, dlls, configure load order and do other necessities for mods? No. Probably won't allow for anything other than bsa, esp, esm, texture, sounds etc. to be distributed through this. You will still end up on external sites to get those things that are actually useful. Vain attempt by bethesda for making mods more accessible and marketable. It will make more people crying about their game doesn't work because they don't understand the concept. It will end up being ball pool for the infants of modding in terms of content and users because of how they will have to regulate it.
I'm not so sure about this being a godsend really. I'm expecting alot of moderation on content.
Even if there is there's nothing stopping modders hosting their stuff elsewhere.
And here I thought Valve would be the only one to use Steam Workshop, sort of how the whole Steam for PS3 thing worked out.

Let's hope that the inevitable mod to make an interface that isn't coded in flash will be popular.

There's still a ton you can achieve with bsa, esp, esm, texture, and sound modding, if the modding community in Oblivion and New Vegas is anything to go by. Sure, you won't be getting total overhauls or optimizations, but there's still room for new gameplay elements, items, quests, or entire areas on the workshop side of things.
Just waiting to see how many people will have their accounts disabled for uploading inappropriate content through this.
A mod database where the top rated mods are not resharpened standard textures and nude mods sounds absolutely fine to me. After all, the bad mods will be voted down anyway. Imagine how many people who never even heard about modding will be introduced to this because now the modding COMES WITH THE GAME! Isn't that great?
How about we talk about the potential of the idea of something we didn't even see yet instead of speculating how strict and limited it SURE will be?
Bethesda and steam will be required to regulate the workshop more than current fansites. This is less speculatory than talking "about the potential of the idea of something", which is apparently what this thread should be about
There's still a ton you can achieve with bsa, esp, esm, texture, and sound modding, if the modding community in Oblivion and New Vegas is anything to go by.
There really isn't though. The standard Bethesda creation kits are tile-based for fuck sake.
Let's hope that the inevitable mod to make an interface that isn't coded in flash will be popular.
Uhhh no. The UI being generally awful is nothing to do with Flash, even though it is coded in it. But, that said it doesn't actually use any Flash dependencies as it uses Scaleform GFx which is actually very fast and used in a lot of games now. Blame Besthesda for having awful mouse input handling on menus and not having dedicated UX designers on the PC.
I'd rather hear that patch 1.3 is coming very soon with fixes...great news nonetheless.

Does anyone else think steam workshop as it is, is kind of shitty? It has no functional search option, only 2 ways to organize the full list, limited to 9 items per page, no categories or tags, only 2 option rating system and you're not allowed to use more than one photo per mod. Even with its flaws, the nexus has a much better system than the workshop is right now. I hope valve makes/fixes most of these much needed improvements/problems before skyrim's debut for the workshop.

yeeeesss YEEEEEEEESSSSS
OH GOD YES OH GOD YES OH GOOOOODDDDD YESSSSSSS FUCK YOU NEXUS FUCK YOU AND YOUR SEX MOD ENABLING ASSHATTERY
Scaleform is actually a really great tool for creating user interfaces. TONS of games use it and you wouldn't even realize until you checked the list. http://gameware.autodesk.com/scaleform/usage/games Arkham City Brink Witcher 2 Homefront Deus Ex HR Crysis 2 DC Universe Online Gears of War 3 Dragon Age 2 Red Orchestra 2 and that's only this year
I am like the only person that thinks Skyrim's UI is decent. I mean it isn't perfect and there's definitely room for improvement but it's absolutely a cut above Oblivion's.
