pack up your bags and leave, everyone, he's not going to budge from his position because he's convinced that ea has some sort of elaborate conspiracy to steal your hard earned gamer money since the 90's.
If they openly gloat about how much money they make through DLC in their quarterly reports then its not a conspiracy. You're the one that believed what Lucy Bradshaw said; you're also the one that didn't know Maxis was bought out by EA like two fucking decades ago. Lucy Bradshaw was also not a conspiracy, I provided written evidence that EA deliberately put her to work along with other "key staff" to make things run the way they want to.

Yeah, no shit EA "bought out" Maxis, considering that Maxis is a developer OWNED by EA. They didn't plant secret agents to deliberately make games CASUAL and BAD.
So you're arguing against this DLC content without even knowing what's in it, not even reading the article to see China Rising is only part of the Premium package? Okay thanks.
Well one would think it would be included with the Season Pass anyway; I wasn't aware it was available for free by preordering though. I personally try to avoid preordering games nowadays based on a few negative experiences from shitty developers and publishers alike in recent years. I am kind of opposed to this entire world that has sprung up that relies on huge amounts of preorders; rather than a game that has some sort of ecosystem where the game will still be attractive after launch. But hey, if you want to pay for DLC, then go ahead.

When EA bought out the company the majority of Maxis' original staff departed and EA installed several of its own staff into the company. I still don't understand why you have such a hard time fathoming that Maxis is just a brand. [editline]24th August 2013[/editline]
What are you even trying to do now oh god
Let me guess, its illegal to have an opinion now.
your opinions are literally backed up by your own opinions which are in turn based off of handwaving explanations for things you're blatantly ignoring.
Opinions on forums. I never thought I'd see the day. Lets hear how great of a game SimCity is then. I'm very riveted to hear your tails/tales about how great of a fantastic game Maxis (the amazing independent developer) put out.
it's ok to have opinions but don't act surprised when other people think it's dumb as hell
You did notice the dumb ratings on the original post as well as the people agreeing that this dlc was stupid on the first reply yeah?
I don't understand why people are bitching about them advertising China Rising when they've literally only showed one 3 second clip from one map w/o any new features in it. This article is terrible too. It's just one quote and screenshot about china rising then talks about levelution the entire way. EA's just saying "Yeah, this will be a thing eventually, so preorder to get it for free." You guys are jumping to conclusions WAY too fast, just because it's big bad EA with its big bad DLC
I love BF3 and all the DLCs are great. [sp]I am fucking serious, you are free to throw boxes at me anyways if you disagree. [/sp] BF4 and DLCs for it(at least what we know about them so far) are looking great for me.

(I bought premium when it came out yo. Get on my level)
if this is going to be something that's released later and is actually being worked on and not just saved for later, fine.
BFBC2 master race. bf3 and 4 are riddled with dlc.
if this is going to be something that's released later and is actually being worked on and not just saved for later, fine.
The game is done. It's been undergoing testing which only really requires the core programming team and a few artists. So to keep the other developers busy and in their jobs, getting them to work on extra content before the game launches is like, the go to. It'll launch around the launch time of the game, but it is in no way required to get the full BF4 experience as BF4 is the full BF4 experience. [editline]24th August 2013[/editline]
BFBC2 master race. bf3 and 4 are riddled with dlc.
"riddled". lmao. BF3 had 5 expansion packs that aren't remotely required to play. 6 "shortcut" packs for lazy assholes who have too much money. And the Premium content for people who bought Premium. Totes riddled mayn-g!!!! Gamez r fuced todey!!!
I liked Battlefield 3 Premium because they actually listened to criticism that was given to the base game and fixed up the DLCs. For example, Armored Kill had Quad Bikes, Gunships, way bigger maps, missile launching trucks, a snow map and none of the shit filters from the base game.
China Rising sounds like a porn title. My interest is a little more peaked than before.
It being a pre-order bonus doesn't make it okay.
It being a pre-order bonus doesn't make it okay.
explain?
It being a pre-order bonus doesn't make it okay.
They could have always just not told us about the DLC and just released it a month after the game comes out instead of offering it for free as a reward for investing in their product.
It being a pre-order bonus doesn't make it okay.
I pre-ordered BF3 because of Back to Karkand pack, because BF3 was looking so epic and I couldn't wait to play my favorite maps from Battlefield 2. And now, China Rising may be the DLC similar to B2K for BF3 - pre-order and get a DLC with couple of maps from previous games for free. It is my opinion that China Rising will be a DLC with maps from Battlefield 2(like Dalian Plant, FuShe Pass, Dragon Valley), so I dunno. If it will be confirmed, then it will be fucking epic. If it is not, and maps are new, well, okay then.

Totes riddled mayn-g!!!! Gamez r fuced todey!!!
What expansion packs have come out for BF3? I looked at the content and it just looks like a few map packs with a couple of weapons each. Maybe all of them together would be an expansion pack.
What expansion packs have come out for BF3? I looked at the content and it just looks like a few map packs with a couple of weapons each. Maybe all of them together would be an expansion pack.
Special forces had 8 maps, each Battlefield 3/4 pack has 5.
Special Forces was also $30, the $15 BF3 DLC's are more comparable to Secret Weapons for 1942, Armored Fury for BF2, or Northern Strike for 2142.
your entire argument is 1. other devs have done it 2. its a corporate conspiracy
in his defense corporations that are left to themselves conspire all the time.
Special forces had 8 maps, each Battlefield 3/4 pack has 5.
So having half the amount of maps, you can say that each of the map packs is a whole expansion and that there's been five expansion packs for BF3.
So having half the amount of maps, you can say that each of the map packs is a whole expansion and that there's been five expansion packs for BF3.
Technically, Special Forces is the outlier. It's the largest expansion DICE has ever done. Every other expansion has been roughly the same as the BF3 packs. It's something they have done for every major release since 1942.

Road to Rome(6), Armoured Fury(3) and Euro Force(3) were admittedly less impressive.
Secret Weapons was also 8 maps, kind of the same scale as SF. Road to Rome(6), Armoured Fury(3) and Euro Force(3) were admittedly less impressive.
It also launched at $30.
It also launched at $30.
So these map packs can be called expansions because they are cheaper? I'm not saying the content is necessarily unvaluable, I'm saying that going "Battlefield 3 has FIVE EXPANSION PACKS" is rather misleading.
