I thought Heller was exponentially more likable as a character than Alex Mercer. Alex is a super douchebag in Prototype 2, but even in the first one he seemed like a jerk. Heller's actions just seem more reasonable to me; or as reasonable as slaughtering thousands in a gory mess can be. It's all in good fun.

Sirdownloadsalot's Prototype 2 review: In this edition, you play as James Heller, an Ex-marine who's family is killed during the 2nd outbreak of NYZ. You are met with Alex Mercer, the protagonist from the 1st game, who gives you a strain of his own infection, making you another "Evolved" mutant like he was. Now, with your new found powers, you set out to take down Blackwatch (A government controlled militia focused on preventing the infection from spreading from NYZ, populated entirely by child murdering, fetus raping psychopaths) and their morally dubious experiments. But not all is as it seems, as another plan is undertaken, by a force much stronger then Blackwatch with a goal of total world control. The story is still silly. It's extremely silly, but James Heller is a much better protagonist then Alex Mercer. He's a lot more sympathetic as a broken father lost in this dark world without the family he loves, making his actions a little more justified. (Murder sprees are still extremely questionable and dubious though.) He's also a wise cracker, which can either be annoying if you don't like it, or kind of charming, Since Alex "Boo-hoo" Mercer never cracked a damn smile in the first game. It makes the character feel more alive and real, is what I'm trying to say. The combat feels a bit more fluid in this one, the game gives you a bit more of a chance to counter and block attacks unlike in the first one where you would be juggled around mercilessly by rockets for hours on end. There are a few less powers in this edition, your whole body armour is gone, along with your Mass fists. However, this isn't necessarily a downgrade. With a few less powers to choose from, it's a bit more convenient to choose which flavor of tentacle you want to rape the next dude with, without becoming indecisive. The 2 powers removed were mostly useless and you never really miss them at all. The game makes up for the loss of the Mass fist attack with the "Tendril" attack, which is so much fun to play around with because it basically rips dudes apart and strings their body parts across streets with long masses of throbbing tendrils (You are also now wet). However, the games was a little bit easy. I played the game twice, once on normal and again on hard to get the last achievement, along with collecting all the collectables, challenges and other tid bits along the way. My first normal run took around 3 days of casual play, while replaying on hard took around 4 hours in one run. Most of the enemies you face will either be the standard soldiers, mutant beasts (they actually made new ones instead of using Prototype 1's mutants), and other "Evolved", who are just like you in the fact they also wield rape tentacles of flesh and gore. Each evolved has a different fight style and are fun to fight and figure out their weaknesses, but sadly the game hinges on them A LOT and you'll face around 30 of them by the end game. The game sometimes feels a little rough. There will be times when you are being gang-banged by mutants, soldiers, helicopters, tanks and other baddies with explosion and gore sprites filling the screen, which can get a little frustrating at times. But it never gets intensely difficult to the point of rage. It's mostly avoidable however. If you loved Prototypes mass-murder tentacle rape simulator, you'll enjoy this edition just as much. It's more of the same, but sanded down with a bit less content but smoother edges. 8/10 Music- 8/10: Brilliant orchestral score. Dramatic, very well done. Particularly this track. Sound- 7/10: Good sound, about as expected. Minus one point for the sound effect that plays whenever a rocket launcher locks onto you. You will hear this a million times by the mid point of the game. Graphics- 8/10: Everything looks sweet. The red zone looks cool, destroyed and totally infected, but a few low res textures and models can catch your eye when cut-scenes zoom into them. Gameplay- 8/10: A little frustrating, but still plenty of combos, powers, upgrades, collectables and a kick-ass travel method. A lot of fun to play. Story: 6/10: Very silly, not a lot too it. Predictable and stale. Luckily, it does not distract from the game. This is not a very story-driven experience here. Booty: 2/10: Not nearly enough booty. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] I could work for IGN and give 8/10 to ever game ever! [sp]Prototype 2 actually deserves the 8/10 IMO. Maybe a 7/10 if I wanted to be harsher.[/sp]
I agree, I was disappointed by the lack of booty in the game.
Boy I gotta get both P1 and P2. I loved playing P1 at...a friends house, and even after a while, I went there again to play it. I feel like the street thug version of superman, and that is awesome. Gotta get this and the prequel. Here I go cry some more in the corner for not having dosh...
Why can't you form your own opinion, instead of relying on others thoughts?
this wouldn't be a problem if steam let you refund your games but no thats not the case here
