• Blizzard is going to issue bans to players farming XP in Overwatch custom games

This is dumb. If I pay $40 for a game I deserve to do what I want with it so long as it doesn't hurt other customers. Punishing people for using their product differently than how it was intended to be used is just stupid especially if it's for a custom game.
Holy fucking shit, this crap again? Is Overwatch really going to have its own Halocaust? Is it really that fucking necessary?
Feels like a lot of people are bashing Overwatch for this in the most nonsensical way possible. Yes, dozens of AFK servers clogging the Custom Games menu was a fucking problem. Yes, they're doing something about it.
I'll tell you a fact about the Halocaust: There were only two types of people, those who knew about the idling software and those who didn't. People who didn't know about it didn't use it and got rewarded. And why wouldn't you? It did nothing wrong (imo) and wasn't some high class exploit designed to ruin the games of other people. It just automated what could be done manually just as easily. A very small amount of people got actually "rewarded" for knowing about the software and choosing not to use it. Most very just lucky, ignorant twats.
I used that way of getting hats without opening the game and still got the lament. It wasn't even a software, just legit console commands and back in the day everyone had the same discussion we are having now.
You just got a hat for doing literally nothing, and suddenly wearing it makes you "holier-than-thou"? Are you fucking insane?
Maybe I'm insane but you definitely cant read. I said attitude. The same attitude that prompted you to make the connection with criminals, which was shared by a lot of other people at the time And I'm not telling you it was right, you asked why the community was so divided about it
what i never understood is why those retards who idled to get hats hated the lament-wearers so much? i remember there were mods to change laments into "FAG" and plugins which autokicked those its like prisoners hating common folk for not being criminals like they are
Besides previously stated ironies and other factors, it's also generally the idea of exclusivity. Remember the iPod earbuds when Mac players got to join the fray? Besides people using emulators or even outright buying macbooks to register to their Steam accounts to get them, servers were auto-banning Mac players and people were outright persecuting anyone with the earbuds at all simply because of an item that they couldn't get normally. All sorts of excuses were made, but the community became super intolerant of both Mac players and newbies around that timeframe in general (the latter due to being lumped in with Mac players; clearly if you were new to the game, you must've been on Mac). Long story short, trying to punish people for idling and grinding is stupid, and trying to reward people for not doing those things usually leads to, sorry for the extreme comment here, shitlords attempting a digital ban holocaust on such people. Also exclusivity triggering them so hard.
I completely forgot about the fact that TF2 players had this huge thing against "Free" accounts. They didn't care if they were good players, just that they were "FREE" players i have to say every single one of those complainers were pretty retarded lmao. I pointed it out at every chance I got.
No, you don't deserve using exploits in an online only multiplayer competitive FPS just because you shelled out $40.
Sorry, I thought custom games were like private matches. If people are doing this in public multiplayer then it isn't right.
dont see much wrong with this, if you abuse a system you deserve to get a slap on the wrist. blizzard wants to be nice by allowing custom games to grant exp so you're still progressing, so i'm glad they'll just ban individuals instead of removing exp from custom games entirely.
Kinda bummed they removed xp gain from skirmishes though, the reason why I played those is for endless fights or training. Banning is enough imo.
