I don't even know why you'd need a gay gaming convention, I neither see prejudice against homosexuality in the gaming industry, nor do I see games based around homosexuality. Just seems like an excuse for a bunch of gay guys to get together to talk about video games.
The industry isn't the problem, it's the dickheads in the community surrounding it.
Just seems like an excuse for a bunch of gay guys to get together to talk about video games.
That's because it is. What are you implying, sailor?
im not sure you realize just how hilarious you sound like right now
I didn't just buy this title for laughs you know. Well I did, but that's not the point.
A lot of people have this "ugh why does this need to exist? just go to e3" mindset. Yeah, why do we have fandom-related meetups and conventions? Why can't you all just go to comiccon? It's the same thing, right?
Apples and oranges. People go to, say, a Dr. Who convention to meet and talk about Dr. Who. People go to E3 to look at video game booths and talk about video games. Do people go to Gaymer conventions to talk about being gay? About being gay in a video game? About playing as a transgendered character? No, they talk about video games. Just like any other gamer convention. Gaymer conventions just create unnecessary separation between LGBT and non-LGBT gamers. Yes, I know they don't make them with the intent of heterophobia, but regular conventions aren't made with the intent of homophobia, and when it comes up, it's handled properly. The ultimate goal would be to look past sexual orientation, and make it not a big deal. Gaymer conventions highlight it.
It's a shame there's a separate conference for gay gamers. There really that much prejudice in the industry we can't all have fun together?
I'm pretty sure there was no prejudice to begin with. I honestly don't know why they need this conference, it's kind of silly to be honest. Yeah, I'm all for gay rights. One of my best friends is gay. But I think this is just the gay community being silly.
That was adorable
It's a shame there's a separate conference for gay gamers. There really that much prejudice in the industry we can't all have fun together?
It's not supposed to push the heterosexual gamers away from the gay gamers. If that were the case, we'd have, ASEXUAL CON 2013 and HETEROCON 2013. It's just meant as a way to bring such a discriminated community together, I'd imagine.
It's a shame there's a separate conference for gay gamers. There really that much prejudice in the industry we can't all have fun together?
Its not really prejudice as much as it is just that gay gamers have a different culture that is different enough to make a conference for.
Awww that was so cute!!!!
Just seems like an excuse for a bunch of gay guys to get together to talk about video games.
gay people like talking to other gay people about common interests, shocking news, more at 11
jesus whoever recorded that can't work a camera. that video wasn't in focus like ONCE.
I think that's the second time Ellen's helped out with a fan's marriage proposal, the first being when she did the GLaDOS voice in that custom map. She and John Patrick Lowrie are such awesome people.
This whole Gaymer thing is fucking stupid, by creating a separate convention you only increase the segregation Gays aren't special, they aren't different, they're fucking ordinary people and we need to treat them as exactly that. If we treat them differently, then we're only accentuating the problem.

Conventions aren't created by like one small group of people that say "okay, there must be a convention for gamers, then there must be a convention about agriculture, then there must be a convention about comics, then there must be a convention about IT, then there must be a convention for gay gamers, then there must be a convention for old people", they're created by people who say "hey it would be fun if we could get a bunch of people that share interests and do not hold any prejudice against each other to gather up and have a great time together, let's get some money together and do it"
Can we stop talking about the convention and talk about the ARTICLE?
