Because we are facepunch and we turn on everyone!!
[thumb]http://puu.sh/QVVH[/thumb] the guy sounds like a huge d-bag to me.
I forgot how humble and simple the description for Cave Story was.

Edmund McMillen is the only reason that I want to watch Indie Game the Movie.
I never found the best gamers funny, but that was a really good review holy shit.
Absolutely disagree. "I don't understand why this game took 5 years to develop" obviously he doesn't know how programming and developers work
I think I missed the point of Fez.. I bought it and played it for about 30 minutes. Felt like I'd got the idea what it was about and couldn't be bothered to play the rest.
Absolutely disagree. "I don't understand why this game took 5 years to develop" obviously he doesn't know how programming and developers work
Nah, having seen another video with all the level variations I can understand why it took a long time. But not 5 years. I could understand 3. But 5 is just too much, but I know a lot of it is because he re-did all the art assets because he got better at pixel art, and made sure things looked better by making blocks in tetris shapes and such. Basically he spent an extra year or two... or three, on nitpicking that doesn't really help the game as a game. I thought he came out as a reasonable guy there, and it's just when you read all the shit he's said that you understand what a self-obsessed asshole he is.
5 years is a LONG time.
This is assuming he worked on the game for 5 years straight with no breaks and not working on any other projects? 5 years is not a long time. I'm pretty sure Limbo took around that amount of time as well
This is assuming he worked on the game for 5 years straight with no breaks and not working on any other projects.
He didn't work on any other projects and he's said it himself that the reason it took him 5 years is because he re-worked the game from the bottom up some 3 times. Basically he didn't have a good plan of what he wanted the game to be, how it should be done and what it should contain. It's semi-winged and he felt it was really necessary to spend much much much more time just to re-do art assets and shit to look better rather than focusing on what makes the game a game. Also according to Wikipedia Limbo got it's programmer sometime in 2006, which means the development time was 3-4 years depending on when in 2006 they got started. It was planned and fiddled with since 2004 however. But planning to make a game and start making it is two different things.
