Rainbow Six Siege has fewer Steam players than Borderlands 2 right now, and that's a shame

Probably marketing too? I didn't even know the game was out...
Oh yeah and assassins creed syndicate was released two weeks ago, forgot that as well
fun fact, that game peaked at 2,8k on steam

So it just means that uplay games don't sell well on steam.
probably because ubisoft's track record has been stained so many times that its barely even recognizable anymore.
I loved this games beta.
But lets be real
This game's going to tank, and tank fucking hard.
It's too fucking expensive, and it doesn't have enough content to justify that.
I loved it. But it will fail horribly. I loved it, and I won't pay 70$ for it. Why would someone take a risk on it?
To expensive? You have Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 those are expensive too.
To expensive? You have Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 those are expensive too.
Fallout 4 and Just cause 3 also have massive open world single-player campaigns.
Rainbow six: siege does not.

Both massive games I don't have to rely on other people owning and playing actively.

It's launch wasn't that significant outside of console
I would take a stab and guess most if it's die hard fans bought it for the console two weeks prior

Rainbow six siege is essentially trying to be a counter strike esque(??) game, with its marketing around an e-sports scene, especially with seige day, it's not hard to tell who they are trying to market the game too. We all know that the game has good potential, and is enjoyable. But if you're pitting the game against cs, which is ~$20 into your currency, it's really not going to pull new players in with a thorn of a price.
Good e-sports games are either free (dota of legends), not very expensive (counterstarcraft), or have had a very long history in the scene... Sometimes both
Putting out two betas, one even after the game had actually gone gold is not something I think is enough to convince a player to drop at least sixty to eighty bucks on a game in this market. The games enjoyment also depends on how many other players are in your region, who also have to stop he drop the same amount of money into the game
All in all, just reinstating the facts
I think Ubisoft treating their PC players like shit finally caught up with them
Syndicate was pretty lack luster in sales on all platforms (despite being alright) so maybe everyone is just fed up with them.
You can get it for 29.99 on kinguin guys
because that TOTALLY changes the fact that it has a big asking price

That right there ladies and gentlemen is the critical detail that most marketing teams do not understand and completely suck at comprehending.
Evolve also made this mistake with flying colours.
AAA companies think they don't need to abide by that rule, and that their game should always sells for 60 dollars. Even if that game barely has the content to back it up.
£26.99 on here http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/tom-clancy-s-rainbow-six-siege-pc-cd-key-uplay

That's still what, £3 less than the retail price for most AAA games awhile back?
That's still what, £3 less than the retail price for most AAA games awhile back?
Yes I believe so, really goes to show how much we're getting ripped off.
As per the consensus in here, I'd have to agree. I'd say it's about a $45 game at launch, there's not enough depth to the gameplay, the shooting feels sub-par for a modern FPS (Control wise) and there are better games that exist that fill the role: CSGO, Intruder, and a few others.
I got it for 31$ a day before it came out...though then again people get iffy about Uplay most of the times, and probably don't want to buy it and redeem on Uplay, but rather Steam(Not like it matters anyways, you can always add through "non-steam" method. Plus it was on sale for Cyber Monday with CDKeys, so yea, 30$ seems like the correct price it should've been anyways.
maybe developers should stop selling multiplayer only games for $60+ with pre-planned season pass dlc
Actually, all DLC is free, the season pass is a VIP member type deal, you get more renown, skins, and shop points. Early access to new operators. Everyone gets all the content though.
I mean when you look at it, this game had an absolutely awful launch.
It feels like it had 4 or 5 different betas and alphas and early demos or whatever you want to call it, and when your game is just a fully priced multiplayer shooter, anyone who was hardly interested has probably seen enough to know it's not worth their time or money.
God I wish we had another SWAT game
God I wish we had another Rainbow Six game. One that was actually built on the foundations of the original games in the franchise, and not trying to emulate something extremely far removed from them
Have they sorted matchmaking yet? Both betas I was in had shit matchmaking. Could never find a game.
Matchmaking is fine it has rarely hiccups, but the game is amazing imho. I got with my GPU but I was already playing the Alpha and Beta, I had a lot of fun with it.
matchmaking works decently but its really dumb how alt tabbing ruins it and throws you back to the main menu
It doesn't do that for me i can alt tab as much as i like to, I have it in windows mode fullscreen.
Have they sorted matchmaking yet? Both betas I was in had shit matchmaking. Could never find a game.
Me and a bunch of friends have had tons of problems with matchmaking. Alt tabbing screws it up most of the time, sometimes when I play alone, I'll be randomly tossed back to the menu with no reason given, and sometimes half the party gets in, but the other half doesn't.
It also still has the terrible mic bug still(Where your mic is randomly turned on, despite disabling it.)
It's $60, has no story campaign thing, and I haven't seen one match of either terrorist hunt or the versus mode that didn't have at least one semi-gamebreaking bug.
No shit I'm not playing it right now.

Played a ton of matches of everything. Not had a single issue.

Nothing gamebreaking at all in the game.
I feel like most of the negative criticism towards the game is from people who haven't played that much of it (if any at all). Everyone who I've played it with is enjoying it. Not a flawless product but people are making it seem way worse than it is.

it's a good game I just don't want to pay that much for something. I expect a singleplayer for that kind of price. It's why I won't buy games like Evolve or Battlefront EA.
I have to pay 80$ for it so i'd rather not do that when I have to worry about finding active players in my region. and in the beta, most people also failed to communicate pretty horribly so that left a bad taste in my mouth.
