Half-Life speedrun record smashed, video evidence is nauseating

It's heavily frowned on by most casual players. There used to be tons of servers with antibhop mods and shit that restricted any sort of advanced movement

They made a mod to use the old bhop from pre-steam HL but using post-steam HL features such as better demo recording/playback. It's pretty much the same gameplay you'd get from installing HL from the CD and patching to a specific patch

The mod doesn't allow them to do anything that wasn't already possible in first release half-life.

I never said it didn't.

i think all they did was revert to an earlier version of HL1, its stated in other speedruns at least that valve did a lot to fix most of these exploits, so this technically is impossible to do on the steam release version since these exploits and maphax have been mostly eliminated, still this makes me want to go back and play HL1 for some reason
hopefully now they can go outside and do other stuff
Wow this is insane to watch. I hardly feel like this is the same game I played
did you ever play cs 1.6 in the early days?
if so then you would've seen it
Man, I remember playing the release version of CoD and seeing people so angry at bhopers
they pretty quickly patched it so spamming jump eventually slows you down to a crawl
Speaking of Half Life speedruns, the opposite force one is pretty fun, mostly because of the inverted camera machine gun boost exploit that looks silly as fuck.
i love how he flies through the room with the ninja chicks and doesn't take a single hit

That's a single segment run, which is impressive but he also has a segmented speedrun that gets 19:23, he even does commentary for it:
okay i just watched the whole thing and wow, i am absolutely floored that people were able to do something like this.
jesus christ, i was barely able to keep up with what was happening at some points. it's like he's got noclip on.

You weren't able to bunnyhop in CoD, you were just able to spam jump all the time. It didn't slow you but it didn't make you faster either.
One of the guys in this speed run also took part on the HL2 speed run. Kudos for him.
Some people say this is dumb and nonsense to spend 1000 hours to get a good time. But fucking look at these people, skill jumping takes some serious skill to pull off, where as some people just bash them for being no lifers.

Actually, it does. The latest release of Half-Life allows frame rates higher than 100 FPS, which can affect gameplay, especially the health provided by the door.
Pretty shitty twitch stream chat, anyone who dares to say that scripts can be considered tools gets flamed and/or banned. Ridiculous what people will do in the hope that "famous people" will agree with them.

I mean shit, I saw someone get banned for saying that this speedrun isn't actually representative of skill as much as it is of endurance/trial and error. It's like logic and rationality are thrown out of the window in favor of peer pressure.
