They just all happen to be in colour.
Which really helps them look less shit by comparison.
Metro looks great until you realize only official Microsoft apps and a small number of other ones actually make an icon to fit in. For example:
props to dropbox for actually following the style
Eh. I personally like the new start menu, and even if I didn't, I don't see why I'd use this over Classic Shell. Still nice that there's an alternative though. The one thing I don't like about the UI in Windows 10 so far is that there's no way I can find to change the color of the title bars. It's just a boring flat white.

It's not perfect but it's far better than the default. That's what I've got with my current settings. (Which are probably a bit too bright thinking on it, lol.)
Hate me all you want, but I really like the live tiles. I like being able to just look and see, "Oh that's the weather, I have so many emails, that's a neat little news article, oh I have that thing at x time...". I like the hard clean lines and solid colors. It just feels clean to me, no fancy gradients and transparencies.
I hate how unorganized they are though. I removed all the live tiles at first because I wanted to go slow on it, mess with settings first, ok... Then I found no information about how to add live tiles. I had a empty space where right/left clicking did nothing. Only after googling I found that, if an application feels like it, when you pin it to the start menu, it will get live. Then, after adding Weather, I found out it's not live, and there is no option to enable it, neither inside nor outside the app. The Turn live tile on/off does nothing. I can't see any setting on the app itself to change it.

You have full vertical and horizontal control over it. If you want live tiles, then you add your account to mail, or set your location to weather. You can't just drag and drop the weather tile down and expect it to magically know where you are, or a mail tile down and just expect it to have your email. w10 doesn't work through telepathic communication. [editline]17th August 2015[/editline] you can also resize it like a normal window by dragging the borders [editline]17th August 2015[/editline]
Hate me all you want, but I really like the live tiles.
