Anyone who finds this offensive should re-evaluate their lives.
Honestly, they (Penny Arcade) have spoke about this kinda shit already. They don't regret making the comic. They regret how they followed up the comic, how they were a little too antagonistic about it, even how they made merch for it. They said sorry. End of the fucking story.
Geezus fuck, quit bringing this crap up. I used to like RPS but this is fucking childish.
Rape is an incredibly violating and life ruining act that really has no place in comedy.

And with the whole "transphobic" shit that came after, he apologised and said "i think this thing i treat all trans-men-and-women how they want to be addressed sorry for being aggressive in defending myself i'm sorry for acting like an asshole" and was perfectly reasonable and everybody just seems like they were so angry they completely ignored this and got even angrier at him.

I actually thought it was funny.
Rape is an incredibly violating and life ruining act that really has no place in comedy.
It's kind of stupid to have people try to draw lines in black comedy. You can make jokes about horrible mass murder, horrific events, baby-killing and whatnot, but rape? Hey man, that's just going too far.
Rape is an incredibly violating and life ruining act that really has no place in comedy.
Except humor is how we overcome our tragedies.
Humor forms understanding and heals wounds.

The funny thing about the hullabaloo over this is that rape is painted in a negative light in the comic, it's showing that the prisoner is suffering immensely. The rape part isn't the joke, it's the fact that the prisoner wasn't saved from this horrible life on a technicality.

That is actually a brilliant response, but is that it?
If this is the problem then I have seen something "worse" in British comedy shows.
Just another case of over sensitive people looking for something to be offended by, it seems.
Holy shit I need a tl'dr, it's like a fucking essay and I can't be bothered to read an essay from RPS.

I think it's more the part of the player not wanting to do the optional side mission.
He only had to save five slaves, so why save more?

It's because the social justice warriors are so used to being pandered to and getting apologies that as soon as someone stands up and says "no fuck off" they get all offended and start boycotting things.
Oh yeah lets not cover this at all. Get your head out of your ass RPS. As journalists you should be covering these events.
Oh they cover some cool diverse events? that toally makes it okay to perpetuate rape culture!~
Holy shit I need a tl'dr, it's like a fucking essay and I can't be bothered to read an essay from RPS.
I think I might be too dumb/tired
But most of it doesn't feel relevant.
As far as I know, it can all be summed up in "We a still sad about the dickwolfes."
[sp]I would have used butthurt... But that didn't feel right[/sp]
I work and interact with all kinds of people every day, and I don't always like what they stand for, but life is about co-existence. It's the hard part of living in a free society, you can say what you want, but so can they. You have to be cool with that. RPS writers have a soapbox they can stand on 24/7, they can say whatever they want about dickwolves. But come PAX next year, when they're getting creamed for views by the other outlets, they're gonna realize that boycotting PAX isn't the best way to get their point across.

you heard it here first folks, joke about everything else all you want

PA made a comic with the word "rape" in it, people got offended, PA rightfully told those people to fuck off because they're the artists in charge of their own art and now everyone's in a tizzy over a three-year-old conflict again.
Holy shit I need a tl'dr, it's like a fucking essay and I can't be bothered to read an essay from RPS.
They made a rape joke, people got really offended over it, and then they handled it poorly and made "dickwolf" merch. They later said they regretted it.
The bit I'm more knowledgable about is the trans stuff. Here's the tweets that started shit.

Now, as he says in this long apology article, he apparently gets aggressive and acts like an asshole when defending himself, which led to stuff like this. There's a lot more and he's kind of an asshole in it. Which he does acknowledge later.

Now here's the part that confuses me. Like I said before, he apologised and maybe it's just me but having looked into all this crap he seems perfectly reasonable. His views are basically as follows, and right or wrong I don't think they're that bad as far as things could go. This is from an email to a friend of his that is trans.
"To be honest with you I had no idea that you were not born a girl until just a couple months ago. When we met and hung out I always just thought you were a woman. Knowing your situation changed nothing about how I would treat you. I am happy to treat someone however they want to be treated. Wanna be a guy or a girl or a fox or whatever and I will be happy to treat you that way.
But I think that is very different from the physical reality of your human body.
I think you’re awesome and super talented. I have no idea what your body parts are and I don’t want to know. I will treat you as a woman if that’s how you present yourself to me.
I hate the idea that because I think boys and girls have different parts I am “transphobic” that pisses me off it makes me angry and so I lash out."
Note the "if that's how you present yourself to me" part, which seems to explain a lot. More stuff is in the apology article I linked.
Now, people weren't happen with this. They saw it as trying to play excuses or I don't even know how the fuck to describe it. Just look up some reactions to it, I just don't fucking know. They're angry, they want to keep being angry, and urgh.
TLDR TLDR: He made some comments that weren't great. He was then an asshole defending himself. He apologised and showed that no, he's not actually transphobic and was perfectly reasonable and very apologetic about the whole thing. People are still angry for some reason. I can't see why they're upset so I can't theorise why.
no other act is violating and life ruining

Are you trying to be funny?
This soapboxing (mostly by John Walker) and all the "so randum xd" jokes are why I stopped reading RPS
I can't edit my posts because THANKS FACEPUNCH but here's the "sorry for being an asshole" explanation if you don't want to check in the link.
"My reaction when I feel backed into corner is to be an asshole. It’s essentially how I defend myself. It’s been that way since was in elementary school. I’m 36 now. Maybe it’s finally time to try and let some of that shit go."
People actually flipped a shit over the Dickwolves comic? I didn't know about this.
http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Dickwolves
I regret even bothering to look this up..
That it? I was more offended when that Microsoft conference demonstrator told that woman he was playing against to 'just let it happen' when he was winning the fight.
And even then I wasn't angry, just deserved a bit of a facepalm that he thought anyone would find it funny.
I really cannot stop giggling at how silly this is.
Ok I'm still fucking confused, so is fullbright upset over the dickwolves thing or the twitter posts. Or did Penny Arcade make a joke about fullbright's pretentious game and they got upset about it and refuse to come to PAX because they won't apologize?
even if this was offensive I see pax as something way bigger than just Penny Arcade anyway
phil fish is a lot worse and a lot more deserving of criticism than the PA guys. they're the same people that made http://www.childsplaycharity.org/
i'm not saying they don't deserve their fair share of criticism, i'm just saying that this whole "controversy" is over some really punctual stuff, and no, they don't deserve getting boycotted. their "rape joke" wasn't that egregious compared to things PewDiePie says every single day, nor is it somehow making rapes seem less horrible than they are. honestly, people need to stop thinking that if they stop everyone from saying the word rape then it's never going to happen. it is a crime, it is horrible, but persecuting it in fiction does fucking nothing to stop it. it should be frowned upon to place it on a positive light somehow.
and well, cwgabriel's comments on twitter were somewhat misworded, i could see why people would get offended by it, but I think the other side of the spectrum, the one that uses "cis priviledge" or "cis" in general as a derogatory term is just far more virulent and inflamatory. if the definition of woman is vague then what the hell is a feminist? and note, i'm not transphobic at all, you can be whatever you'd like, and do whatever you'd want, it's none of my business really, but you can't morph the world around you.
