Stop whining about things you don't mean. You're all outraged that they went more over the top instead of going back to the style of game SR2 was.
I never played SR1 or 2, and I didn't really care that much for 3, so saying that I'm wishing it would be more like the previous games makes no sense. I'm just pointing out my observations on the game, which is a totally alright thing to do.
They're practically the same game, but L4D2 has more shit slapped on it and is less polished. L4D1 takes itself more seriously as a survival horror game and is more polished in every area, but lacks variety. If you were to make L4D1 and L4D2 into one game, you'd have the best formula for a L4D game. This is why I think SR4 should just be DLC.
Oh, yeah? Tell me, did you play the whole game? How was it? Was it really that short that and lacking?
hello guys, my name is shrek and i dont like saints row because it trys too hard to be funny to the point where i had to lower the volume during cutscenes in sr3 cus they werent funny
Haha the dubstep gun was surprisingly well executed. Saints Row 4 seems a lot cooler now than it did in the trailer. Definitely looking forward to it!
Oh, yeah? Tell me, did you play the whole game? I'd love to know where you came to the conclusion that SR4 should be DLC.
Because it started as DLC and isn't really that unique as a sequel.
I really enjoyed SR3 but this is quite literally the same game but with a DLC pack tier amount of new content I want to buy this but they are really making it hard for me to think that its even worth the purchase The new stuff here is basically just toys you will get bored of within a matter of time; I'm sure the dubstep gun is fun now but when you've used it for about an hour you know all the songs and its just another gimmick you toss in the garbage and replace with the default assault rifle
but we do know the story aliens have invaded, the boss is now the president, he and the crew have been captured, the boss goes into a virtual reality chair thing to a taken over steelport, hence the superpowers and zany antics then you go into scripted sequences outside of the chair to fight back
That's what you call a synopsis of a story. Durr.
hello guys, my name is shrek and i dont like saints row because it trys too hard to be funny to the point where i had to lower the volume during cutscenes in sr3 cus they werent funny
I never found SR3 to be funny with it's story and jokes, but it was a damn good game and the customization and arsenal could make for some damn fucking funny moments.
when I first played saints row 1 I don't think I would've ever guessed that it would become this in the future.
It doesn't really look that, well, 'special'. I know they said they would stick with the extreme style as long as people want it, but really, there are only so many changes you can make to a game with the same goals (and city) as its original. Like it has been said about l4d2, It's pretty much the same game except done again with some few improvements, but it would never have as good feedback from the community as when it first came out because it was new. It was a fresh idea and people liked it. Now L4d2 took a year to make so I guess the changes you can make on a game like that with a deadline so small is kinda limited, but sr4 is an open world game and there are room for MANY changes, but they have decided to stick with the same outrageous style. It just doesn't look like they have done much to the game to make it stand out from sr3 for me to buy as a fully fledged sequel, I guess that's what I'm saying.
Oh, yeah? Tell me, did you play the whole game? How was it? Was it really that short that and lacking?
Not everyone needs to take the Call of Duty approach where you release sequels that barely change anything, or add only 1 or 2 things. SR3 was fun, but it wasn't anything impressive for me. The main thing I liked about SR3 was the character customization. I have like 18 hours in it and that's from playing half the campaign in co-op and the entire campaign in SP.
Because it started as DLC and isn't really that unique as a sequel.
How do you know it's not unique? Have you played it? I already stated that just because it started off DLC doesn't mean it's not fleshed out. With the longer development time they have more tim to add content and expand. Hell, maybe a lot of ideas that were originally canned for the expansion have been brought back because they had more development time. Games aren't left to rot when they're delayed.

Games just don't disappear when they're delayed.
I'm basing my opinion on all of the details thus far. It might be good, it might not but right now it doesn't look much different from SR3.

They have been given more time, but hardly anything has changed in terms of what they could do and what they have done(by the looks of the trailer).
I'm basing my opinion on all of the details thus far. The first Saints Row 2 footage was just recordings of different places they added to Stillwater. [editline]sadkald[/editline]
Exactly. honestly it looks fun, i don't care if it's gonna be the same + new content, i'll have silly fun with it and i'll enjoy it
I don't even know how this is defend-able I was a big fucking fanboy of 2 and 3 but this is less innovation than Call of Duty They should have just left it as DLC
That's what you call a synopsis of a story. Durr.
Oh yeah im sure there will be lots of immersion and plot twists in this thick and well-developed story [editline]9th May 2013[/editline] Sonar do you work for volition or something
I rest my case.
The hell do you mean you rest your case dude? You have the exact same information as I do and you are assuming that there is more to the game than in the trailer! How exactly is your argument any better than mine?
It looks just as much like a new game as SR2 did. SR -> SR2, built upon the same base and just thrown more content on it. SR3 -> SR4, built upon the same base and just thrown more content on it. But no one bitches about SR2 taking most assets from SR and being placed in the same city, oh no, that's fine, but when SR4 does it, it's a crying shame. Stop whining about things you don't mean. You're all outraged that they went more over the top instead of going back to the style of game SR2 was.
I think the difference between SR2 and SR4 is that the latter is literally slapping a bunch of American pop culture with dubstep, bald eagles, and a bunch of absurdly random nonsense that would've worked just fine in SR3. SR2 at least took itself seriously as a game and as a story.
Oh yeah im sure there will be lots of immersion and plot twists in this thick and well-developed story
Better than not having a story period. As long as there's a reason behind doing what you're doing you'll have fun and have closure. I can understand if there was no reason for why you're in this game's world. But there's obviously a story, Volition is clearly going to do a story (even if it's silly), why can't you just enjoy it instead of having a stick up your ass about it? Or better yet, ignore it if you don't like it? [editline]9th May 2013[/editline]
The hell do you mean you rest your case dude?
Because I don't want to spend £50 on a game if it's going to be glorified DLC.
So wait? It doesn't come out for another 3 months. Why get worked up over it now?
Optimism can be fun once in a while. You should try it!
As a realist I'll respectfully decline. Optimism mixed with today's game developers only leads to disappointment.
So wait? It doesn't come out for another 3 months. Why get worked up over it now?
I want to see how a product is shaping up instead of relying on the reviews of gaming sites. Oh and you're the one that's getting worked up tbqh.
Because I can wait without assuming "I'm going to get shafted," too early. Optimism can be fun once in a while. You should try it!
That's funny. So your saying that it's justifiable for me to be wrong over the analysis of the god-damn trailer because I'm not optimistic enough? "Alright guys! You hear the new call of duty is coming out? What? No! of course it wont be the same! So what if it shows hardly any new features in the trailer, you're just not being optimistic enough!"
As a realist I'll respectfully decline. Optimism mixed with today's game developers only leads to disappointment.
Sounds like pessimism to me. Besides, it's not like Volition are lazy and don't try to make good games. Can you honestly say you hated any one of Volition's games? Sure, Red Faction: Armageddon sucked but it wasn't lacking. You could tell they were trying to make a good thing. Volition are pretty cool guys. They aren't douches in suits.

The people in this thread have done nothing but brought valid points and arguments as to why SR4 doesn't look as good as it should. A pessimist would say, "This game is shit because it looks like SR3" as opposed to, "This game looks exactly like SR3, so I have my doubts."
That's funny. So your saying that it's justifiable for me to be wrong over the analysis of the god-damn trailer because I'm not optimistic enough? "Alright guys! So what if it shows hardly any new features in the trailer, you're just not being optimistic enough!"
Except, you know, CoD has been repeating itself for quite a few years. Everyone and their mothers know by this point that the new CoD isn't going to be anything other than a new lazily slapped together SP and just more multiplayer maps. Volition hasn't done anything to shaft players. They haven't once made a game that was similar to its predecessor. They always try to add something new to the table while delivering an interesting experience. Why are they getting so much shit over 2 trailers and 6 minute footage? They have developed a fine reputation from me since Red Faction 1. And for many others, there's the Freespace days.
They haven't once made a game that was similar to its predecessor.

Oh kinda like how SR2 used SR1's running animations, graphics, and um... oh I dunno, literally everything else? Man, who knew re-using the older game's engine saves money and allows you to spend more time on missions?
So what about the SR2 being like SR1 argument?
