I assume it's a similar concept, in that you set the game and drivers to send 7.1 signals, and the filter downmixes it to 2.1 while keeping the positional information and uses Head-related Transfer Functions to trick your brain into hearing sounds from different directions. At the cost of a bit of reverb, most games get a holographic effect.
That explains why I keep looking behind me while using this.
I got a problem with this. When I run it, there are no audio devices I can pick: There are no audio devices with names when I scroll up, and none of them work when I test them. The audio device from the program produces sound, but I can't hear it. Windows 8 x64, regular old 3.5" headphones powered by USB.
i fixed it by disabling some other sound device i had(was useless), it was screwing with it apparently
I tried it. Pretty good, but there is no much difference when you are playing something.
is there any better software that does things like this? doesn't have to be free
Someone should compare this with CMSS-3D and Dolby Headphone.
gives some oomph to gunfire and explosions, and that's all i need.
After playing Oblivion for about 2 hours, I have noticed that sounds behind me sound less clear. Also stuff like spellcasting or footsteps are more audible. I've also tried listening to some music and it sounds the same. I still don't know whether I will keep it, first I will try it out in other games.
I was listening to music as it installed and it made my iTunes flip the FUCK out [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] It sounds kinda cool, but it makes my speakers sound like absolute shit, so I won't use it
Did anyone try this on Steelseries siberia v2?
depending on the email you used, other people may have used it. i used my email, and ive had no spam.
Yeah that was a pretty common email, just kinda funny to see how many companies it was sold on to.

I seem to hear cracks from time to time.
When I try to launch it, all it says is "PLEASE CONNECT A SYNAPSE 2.0 ENABLED DEVICE"
Works with my panasonic headphones.
I have crackling in my headset now whenever I use this, sadly. I guess this doesn't play nice with Turtle Beach X12s.
I tried this with CS:GO, but CS seems to already do this extremely well. I'll use this for other games, but as I said before, CS:GO seems to do the same thing in engine.
Well, I disabled Razer once more after fiddling around with my Realtek Settings once more. I'm enjoying my Realtek settings now much more than the Razer.
does it work with mono :downs: Just finished installing it, it's actually really cool. Will come in handy in the games I play, even though it's pretty easy to identify what direction a sound's coming from when you have a compass. Music sounds nice through it too [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] Also just for the sake of making bass boost useful for something:
I already have Dolby Headphone: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Sa1oXkg.png[/t]
Why in God's name does this force you to install to C:?
this is pretty damn awesome.
I already have Dolby Headphone: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Sa1oXkg.png[/t]
Assuming you actually have hardware, you'll get better audio quality (If you have the DLL that interfaces with DirectAudio's bullshit and fixes it) with just it.
(If you have the DLL that interfaces with DirectAudio's bullshit and fixes it)
What does this mean?
Lol this is the same functionality that my motherboard comes with as standard. They're giving it away free because charging for it would actually be quite a dickmove.
Centre speaker is extremely quiet for me...
I love this. Music sounds so much more vibrant now and you can hear every little nuance more clearer. That's my opinion anyway.
Someone should compare this with CMSS-3D and Dolby Headphone.
Raises a good point, if I already have a Xonar card with Dolby Headphone, would it interfere with the Razer software?
Raises a good point, if I already have a Xonar card with Dolby Headphone, would it interfere with the Razer software?
I tried it with my Xonar Essence STX (both with and without Dolby Headphone activated, and also with the 7.1 Shifter on/off) and it worked fine, though it did cause some wonkiness with my mic and some programs output settings (which were easily fixed by configuring their sound settings accordingly). I did notice that the sound would pop/crackle every now and again seemingly at random -- whether that is because I was using their software on top of my dedicated hardware or something else I can't say. Regardless I uninstalled it as I don't need it.
