• Halo 4 was a learning process, franchise director says

Learning process? Well I'm sure glad they learned how to not make Halo.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being, And hope that Halo 5 is going to be more... I dunno... Halo-ish? It felt that they have forgotten everything that made a Halo game, a Halo game. At least in Multiplayer anyway. Which is mind boggling strange because I'm pretty sure half of 343 stayed on from Bungie. I can understand they are trying to be separate from Bungie but, seriously. Don't forget the roots and foundations that the games are so well known for. Halo 4's multiplayer can be enjoyable, but they need to sort out the balance issues, limited playlists and game mode options. I want to play classic Halo, none of this ordinance pointstreak nonsense, and i would really like custom games to have more options than Halo Reach, not less. That alone makes me scratch my head and ask "what the fuck was the entire studio smoking?".
Only about 5 people left Bungie to join 343i and that was just a few matchmaking and sound guys (good job on the fileshare system dudes).
If you want classic Halo multiplayer, then why don't you play classic Halo multiplayer?
If you want Halo why not just buy Halo? Oh wait...
Hopefully they learned to stop adding gametypes and then removing them 3 days later.
I feel like there were many things that were hollow about this entry. The covenant should be the main enemy. The new race was horribly annoying to fight. And what annoyed me more than anything was that the grunts didn't speak English anymore. A little detail to some, but I loved hearing "DEMON!" in their high pitched voices before I cracked their skull open.

They're almost as annoying as the bomb dropping parrots and evil poodles in the Wii port of Dead Rising.

I still wonder how I beat it that way to this day.

If Halo 5 is going to be next gen, then I sure as hell want it to have SERIOUS upgrades to multiplayer. Not be like COD, not be like Old Halo. It needs to be something that's unique/seldom done. I want to see full on WAR in multiplayer. Playercounts in the 32-64 range. Dedicated servers. Five base Dominion as the focused gamemode (Along with spawn selection). A class-system like Battlefield. Pilotable Broadswords and Pelicans. Server browser instead of matchmaking. Have separate announcer voices and playermodels for different teams (UNSC vs Insurrection maybe?). Matches that last for 15 minutes minimum. Much larger maps (And nerfed precision weapons). First-person vehicle usage. RTS-like command mode. Eh, maybe I'll just play Planetside when it goes F2P. Or reinstall BF2 if it isn't dead yet because of BF3.
Oh right, Maybe i should had done some research before saying that...
Nah man it's fine. A lot of people were spreading around miss information about them having a ton of former Bungie members.
Oh right, Maybe i should had done some research before saying that...
And what the fuck is going on with the fileshare. They keep claiming that supposedly that they have something revolutionary with it, but it's gotta be a load of bullshit.
Eh, maybe I'll just play Planetside when it goes F2P. Or reinstall BF2 if it isn't dead yet because of BF3.
Planetside 2 is already out, and is already F2P.
Planetside 2 is already out, and is already F2P.
The first thing necessary to play Planetside 2 is a PC that can run Planetside 2.
The first thing necessary to play Planetside 2 is a PC that can run Planetside 2.
Next major patch is said to be aimed to drastically improve performance on lower end systems. Hell, when it first came out I could barely run it at Low on my HD7770, so they've definitely made progress.
You know for a game called Halo 4, you don't actually visit the Halo rings at all through out the entire game. (Visit as in actually entering the ring once.) This game is actually Halo by name only. What this game should be called is Reclaimer.
Tell your Art department to stop snorting Evangelion DVDs and we'll be square.
Tell your Art department to stop snorting Evangelion DVDs and we'll be square.
Yeah and the prometheans looked like gundam too.

Either way it has nothing to do with the story.
Only complaints is that the story didn't explain lots of the backstory from the books, I already knew the story of the books, but for my friend, he didn't know the half of it and he played the fuck out the other games.
I love how everyone is bitching about the Promeathens when last I checked everyone hated the flood
Halo 4 probably had the weakest overall story to date. I will admit they nailed the environments (I've not had such a profound moment of awe as I did when I saw the hanging pillars on Requiem since I first walked out onto Installation 04 and stared up to it towering into the sky and arcing over to come back down behind me). The story was nothing spectacular though, and even though it was definitely an enjoyable game if somebody asked me, "would you prefer Halo 5 to be more like Halo 4, or more like the previous Halo games?" I'd definitely pick the latter option.
Like I said in the megathread, Frankie doesn't get to go, "woops, sorry guys, we're new at this!" He's been around since Combat Evolved, and lots of 343 worked on previous Halos. They know what makes Halo tick.
I found the storyline to be quite sub-par. Suddenly a super-powerful race of humans is transformed into small villages of cavemen. Meanwhile, the Forerunners build a weapon that somehow transforms people into machines. And then you have the whole Master Chief-Cortana thing at the end of the game. I enjoyed the story because of the sci-fi aspect, I wish they never went and turned it into some cheesy fantasy drama. And the file share system. I can't even explain that.
why can't they stick to the halo forumla and not change it to call of duty and ruin multiplayer. goddamnit im playing more reach than 4 now because customs
In my opinion, they should have focused on a different character. Chiefs story was over and there wasn't really any reason for him to be around anymore.
I wanna see some stories on the other spartans that have gone missing in action.
Halo ODST, Halo Wars. Halo 3 you're only on Halo for the last level.
Well in Halo 3 at least you visit the ring. Once. In Halo 4, you never even get to set a foot on installation 03. They should have wrote the story where the composer was still on the ring and UNSC have not yet move it out of the place. Plus why must they move the composer out of the ring to an asteroid belt anyways? Isn't the ring a safer place to create a research station than on an asteroid belt?
I loved Halo 4, they did a great job, but there is always room for improvement. If I had a choice between making it more like 4 or more like the previous games though, I'd chose the later. The story was lacking though, the material in the books didn't quite translate well to the game. It fit in yeah, but a lot of stuff wasn't made apparent.
Halo ODST, Halo Wars. Halo 3 you're only on Halo for the last level.
Reach too. [editline]12th January 2013[/editline] The Didact only seemed cool at first because of his kickass armor. Everything else about him was so 2-dimensional.
Halo 4 was no doubt a step in the... wrong direction. But I feel they can improve.
