The things that are seen in this little amount of video are barely anything to judge the final game with, of course, but it's still gameplay. Something that has been finalized in terms. It's in the game, perhaps an early release version, or a close to version.
You have no idea what an Alpha is, do you? Everyone talking about how they have only two months til release: DICE has three dev teams in Stockholm and 1 in LA, 3 of which are confirmed to be working on BF4.
In this thread I learned everyone is a highly respected video critic who can make judgments on alpha's of games, that 100% reflect the final product.
Welcome to the Facepunch bandwagon where every AAA video game company except for Valve is evil, all their games suck, and anyone who enjoys them is an idiot. I don't see anywhere near this much hate in other sects of the web.
I cant be the only one who liked having no HUD. Of course that will never happen in a AAA game.
That looks... terrible. Bland map, I hope that's youtube's fault for that disgusting framerate, it looks worse than BF3 if anything, and it's definitely gone the Call of Duty route. Here make your weapons look stupid, make them look like Bacon even
because no hud is retarded in real life you have some awareness of what you have, be it your relative state of health, your lay of the land, and a pretty good clue on how many mags you're carrying at the very least
I was thinking minimal, a la red orchestra 2

It still bothers me that in these preview videos the players appear completely useless and lack any skills whatsoever.
But that's how I fly :(

Player models look nicer, foliage looks nicer too. We'll see how it turns out closer to release.

That's more like brown and warm rather than grey and desaturated. The grey-brown haze that covered up the hideous draw-distances wasn't pretty, but aside from that the BF2 sceneries were moderately colorful and quite pleasant to look at.
Are those maps untextured? it looks like they are solid beige with only shading applied
The grey-brown haze that covered up the hideous draw-distances wasn't pretty
A skyscraper had just been taken down. That's the reason why there is a lot of dust around.
oh hey, its battlefield 3 with a duller color palette and more destruction stuff.
A Comment said :
gamerguy779 7 hours ago Actually, I just figured out why it looks like this. This is after the building has• collapsed and the dust is covering everything. That's why everything looks like it's without much color.
Another point: DICE even pointed out that the Alpha came with barely any textures since it was for technical testing purposes only!
It's either that or really old footage this game releases in three months, that's not very long in AAA game development time, and definitely not long enough for this to be alpha footage. it's beta footage, and we all know what the differences were between Battlefield 3 Beta and the Release version. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] The textures are unfinished though, not even dust settling everywhere from a building collapse would give everything that flat, uniform shade of grey
The world looks like it's completely lacking the diffuse textures, so it's most likely in lighting debug mode.
