Yeah Sony is really pulling the threads here.
Hyped to the heavens, and was a disappointment on release.
Nobody with half a brain hyped this game, the hype around it was all artificial and planned by Sony. The exact same moment when Developers start getting all dodgy with the "Oh it's gonna be great but we can't tell you why exactly :^)" you know something's up.
The game looks beautiful though, so at least it's going to be a treat to play when it goes on sale.
I'm utterly baffled at this 100% certainty that this game will be a worthless nothing. Is waiting for the damn thing to actually release first before judging it too much to ask for? I just don't get it.
I hate how there's no base building. Gee Gee.
Remember when people were joking about NMS as a walking simulator? We better prepare for worst case scenario.
people are saying its stupid to assume this will be good but it's equally stupid to assume it'll be bad we haven't truly see the game yet [editline]10th July 2016[/editline] we've pretty much seen as much as we did with deadpool trailers, only the absolute start of what could be in the (thing). Not to compare it to deadpool of course but they really aren't showing much. either the devs are purposely hiding things that are really amazing about the game so players can just kinda, dive into it blind and explore it all for themselves or they're showing all they have and it actually doesn't have much to the game, and doesn't own up to a 60$ price tag
I lost all my hype for this game when it turned out there was not gonna be any persistence to the game world to speak of. If not fucking up when landing your ship on alien planets is the only gameplay to speak of I could've forgiven that - if there'd only been a chance of some other explorer finding my charred remains and a part of my hull plating reading out "USS TRUSTY AUTOPILOT".
How is this similar to Spore?
both were heavily marketed as these amazingly ambitious and innovative procedurally generated games where nothing is the same and the gameplay never gets boring
Despite exploration being the focus point of gameplay, it's seems like the game has no substance or incentive to keep doing said exploring. The devs have been very vague and haven't been showing a lot, which is making me extremely skeptical about the content. All the gameplay videos have been the devs walking around explaining what's in the game, but not really showing it. There's no word if you can build stuff on planets, they really haven't visually shown crafting, hell we don't even know what the player looks like. All those seem like basic things that should've been shown off, especially for a game this "massive".
The game will be about 6 gb in size! Super duper excited! :D
The game will be about 6 gb in size! Super duper excited! :D
Why are you excited? Im genuinely curious why people are excited for this.
It doesn't look bad, it just sounds like it should cost $30 or less.
Why are you excited? Im genuinely curious why people are excited for this.
a procedural generated universe sounds like it would take a lot of space, but the fact that you need 10gb max to run the game is quite a relief.
So is it just an exploring simulator? I was pretty excited for this game as I thought it was a survival game with loot and you could control the planet's ecosystem and such.
I believe the end-goal of the game is to make it to the center of the universe.
I believe the end-goal of the game is to make it to the center of the universe.
Further adding to the Spore comparisons.
Why are you excited? Im genuinely curious why people are excited for this.
For a lot of people it's exciting getting to explore strange and unusual lands and see new sights. A lot of people don't care about macro and micro economics and trading or having to construct more and more facilities to craft new things to survive while other people try to smash it all and take your stuff. There are plenty of people who just want to explore without many other worries.
what if this is really a curiosity cube deal where you get to the center of the universe and peter molyneux pops out of a tree and tells you that you won your a god now [sp]but nothing happens[/sp]
a procedural generated universe sounds like it would take a lot of space, but the fact that you need 10gb max to run the game is quite a relief.
What why. It's procedurally generated. That's the exact reason it doesn't take a lot of space.
The game will be about 6 gb in size! Super duper excited! :D
I have been following this game since it's announcement. And I've seen things in the trailers and it looks freaking awesome. Just take a look at this procedural generated blob creature! So adorable <3

So we've all been hearing a lot about this game, but it's all been shown in a very specific way. Like others have said, it seems no one whose played it is impressed with it. This is a game that has a great idea and in my personal opinion, will fail to deliver. The biggest indication of that to me, is exactly just how much we've been hearing about it. I mean by god, does no one remember destiny? The more money that a company spends on marketing a game, the higher the chance that they're planning to run away with everyone's money on pre-orders before anyone notices the game is actually boring and unrealized. If there's a review embargo, or if review copies aren't sent out, I'd stay far away from even considering an early purchase on this one.
a procedural generated universe sounds like it would take a lot of space, but the fact that you need 10gb max to run the game is quite a relief.
Procedural generation is almost always smaller filesize than stored content. Maybe not even "almost" always - I can't think of any counterexamples. For an extreme case of getting small filesizes through procedural generation, look at .kkrieger, which is a Quake 3/Doom 3-tier game, graphically, but fits onto a standard floppy disk.
This game is like a hyped tech demo for procedural generation and what you can do with it. The game severely needs base building, persistence in planets, and encouraged multiplayer for it to be worth it. I want to explore with friends and build bases.. Not wander around and never see anyone.
Spore 2.0

Hyped to the heavens, and was a disappointment on release.
Well to be fair to Spore, EA absolutely gutted that game and Will Wright quit Maxis, the studio he founded, and effectively stopped making games because of what happened. So it's not like there wasn't someone trying there.
I believe the end-goal of the game is to make it to the center of the universe.
Isn't everything the center of the universe because it's so big?
Well to be fair to Spore, EA absolutely gutted that game and Will Wright quit Maxis, the studio he founded, and effectively stopped making games because of what happened. So it's not like there wasn't someone trying there.
From what I understood it wasn't EA's fault as much as troubles within the team itself. Some people wanted an extra-realistic simulation and others wanted a kid friendly accessible toy.
