Diablo III: Reaper of the Souls is the perfect excuse to go back to Diablo III
Path of Exile is free. It's a f2p game with cash shop. You have no right to complain it's always online.
D3 on the other hand cost full price and yet had AH and always online crap. Furthermore console versions have none of that stuff.
No hypocrisy, different games.
Definite hypocrisy. They are both always-online games. You need an internet connection to play both. The fact that one costs money and the other is "free" doesn't change this fact. You can shit on Diablo 3 for all the reasons you want up to and including the online requirement, but ending a 3 hour binge on another always online game to come on FP and bitch about Diablo 3's always online requirement is hypocrisy. There is no other word for it.
also since last update, there is no reason to play alone.
people got disappointed with d3 on release and never bothered to check how it is now. they improved alot of the game.
I hated Diablo 3 because it practically removed all the intense atmosphere that made 1 and 2 great.
You mean the intense atmosphere that made Diablo 1 great, and the okay atmosphere that sort of helped with Diablo 2?
i am curious why everyone hates d3 always online but nobody complains about path of exile always online?
Path of Exile is a mmo. Diablo is supposed to be a single-player/lan game.
There's this big difference. I tried to play Path of Exile, but i'm really not into mmos.
I like to be this lone-wolf hero that saves the world and shit.

Path of Exile is one of those pseudo MMOs where you only see other people in towns.

It's not hypocrisy. It's a similar system of online but still different. PoE handles the always online as good as or a little better than Diablo 3 while still being an indie team. And how is the F2P v.s. $60 not valid? Did you play Diablo 3? Do you remember not being able TO play it for a week after it came out because of "error 503" or whatever it was? If I have invested money into something I expect to be able to access it when the creators have said I could. And in Path of Exile you actually can feel the online unlike in Diablo 3. When you are in towns, they can be packed with people or just have a few players mulling around. And instead of some ridiculous auction house or useless gold currency they did something completely unique and went with a new system of trading items with other players and upgrading them.
Path of Exile is also arguably a better game and pulls more towards the roots of the Diablo series than Diablo 3 does. Overall yeah always online sucks but in Path of Exile you can't be as upset because it's handled better than in Diablo 3 and you get a better experience with free updates for 100% less of the cost.
You can't just go disregard other aspects of the game when they are effected by and effect the always online. It's not hypocrisy, it's different circumstances.

The circumstances quite literally mean nothing to me since they both have the same exact DRM measure that is unnecessary and intrusive. In the event my internet craps out I'm screwed in both ends of the spectrum, no amount of "pseudo MMO feel" or "F2P game" is going to change any of that.
The story i can kinda agree with because it was out-of-nowhere but overall it wasn't completely bad. Also i think the characters were good in this one, there was actual dialogue, especially from PC's and not just one-liners when you walk into a new area. I very much enjoyed talking to Haedrig and figuring out Kormac's past.
That's not what I meant
Diablo 2's story was given from the viewpoint of not the PC but Marius, an utterly terrified little man, it was filled with mystery and horror, Tyrael and his intentions and who sent him were just as mysterious to Marius as Diablo and all them. A lot of the times everyone was just completely slaughtered. It gave a feeling of total apprehension to the point where wandering out of towns became flat out spooky. All of that went out the window

No, it's rationalizing. You are deflecting from the main point that both games are always online and attacking Diablo 3 itself. Path of Exile gets to be always online because it's a "good" game, and Diablo 3 doesn't deserve the same policy because it's a "bad" game. I can sympathize. I've had Diablo 3 uninstalled for over a year now but play POE atleast an hour a day since closed beta. But at the end of the day you can't play either game without logging into their servers and staying connected to the internet to play the game. Whether one game is "better" than the other doesn't matter. Your giving the game you like a pass on the exact same thing that you bash the other game with as a cudgel.
For the record though; the auction house is dead come next March so you can stop beating that dead horse. Both games had a bad launch day but I was still playing 4 player coop in D3 within hours of release.

And both games receive free updates with Diablo 3 making sizeable adjustments to gameplay so I don't know what that point is supposed to mean.

A lot of it comes down to bitterness that Diablo 3 wasn't as immaculately perfect as people wanted it to be, so they just find things to target. There was no way for Diablo 3 to live up to the 10 or so years of hype that'd been sitting there, but people don't want to lower their expectations to something more realistic and would rather scream and yell when they don't have the same experiences as they did when the entire genre was new.

Well, yeah. Just before the game took place it was a time of peace, of course you wouldn't have that feeling. Shit just started going down as you got there, it's not going to make every area 2spooky right off the bat. Besides, i felt the areas around Tristram had great atmosphere.

This. Barring the last few, Diablo 3 provides a good amount of content adjustment whereas this first PoE patch is adding some Descent Champions thing based off an event during this week and a smattering of new items.

And also this. People went into D3 expecting it to be D2 but better and rightly so. I went into it thinking A. They likely toned it down for a current mainstream audience to bring new people to the series because what CoDfag/Battlefag is going to have the patience for the difficulty D2 provided and things like Runewords? Of course they toned it down and streamlined it and B. I knew from the get go that it wasn't going to be as good as D2 so i went in with the mindset of a new player to the series, not comparing it to D2 at all and i found it a very enjoyable game indeed.
