no need, they shut MGO down!
Seriously? I remember trying for whole days, nearly weeks after beating MGS4, just waiting for MGO to finish downloading. Why was it shut down?
lack of interest i'd imagine
Towards the end, the MGO community consisted of a small group elitist dickbags that scared away any new players from what I heard.

It became this mere months after release to be honest. The "training" system where experienced players were meant to be coaching newer players just became ways for them to be massive bellends to anyone who wasn't as good, and farm points. Actual gameplay was quite hard as people who played longer for better gear, rather than keeping it fairer. And people who spent all their time playing the game were usually sniping across the map with customised AKs or whatever headshotting people who couldn't shoot back thanks to no gear.
what great timing, FINALLY bought this a few weeks ago. Am completing the other metal gear games in sequence so hopefully the patch will be out by the time I reach 4.
I wish they would put the game on the PS Store or something, my disk is cracked.
The game is around 32GB large on the disc. Would take a lot of HDD space.
Yes, if it was on regular dvds, it would be separated into 12 discs or something like that. It really is a huge game.
If it was on 7.5GB dual layer DVD (which the 360 does support) it would need "only" 5 discs.
The game is around 32GB large on the disc. And that's the compressed iso file, when uncompressed and installed it'd be somewhat bigger than that (not by much though.)
Would take an awful lot of HDD space either way.

Dear god I'm unable to edit my post ;_;
Better late than never.
Yeah but late enough to the point where it's online service has been shutdown and people aren't really playing it anymore is TOO late.
Has Kojima mentioned anything about a patch release date?
I would rather have MGO back and updated regularly than just some trophies, but I admit that if MGO did come back the community would probably just ruin a good part of it again. Well, I guess we can hope for a new MGO and better community next time...Now for the music I think of when I say this:
