I was happy with my Turtle Beach headset. Until 3 months after opening it they broke, because a tiny plastic pin in one of the ear pieces that held the hinge together broke.
Different price class? Plus audio-technica mainly makes headphones, they don't make many headsets, and the headsets they do make are pretty expensive.
That's pretty much the point. Headsets are universally overpriced, and are generally of exceptionally poor build quality. You are much better off getting a good pair of headphones, and a mic to go with them. USB headsets in particular have a tendency to have god awful sound cards in them.
Am I the only person on FP who's perfectly happy with their Turtle Beach headset :v
I've had a PX3 headset for a year and a half, and the only real complaint I have about it is that occasionally the mic breaks when I have my webcam plugged in and that it was bothersome to set up at first.
I didn't even know it existed before now now I'm happy I know it exists because I know what to avoid like cancer. this is why I avoid every single advertisement that exists and go purely by reviews from people. Anyone who believes this, even if they were as 'amazing' as they claim, is an idiot if they don't go automatically for reviews and videos before buying. The first and second paragraph made me instantly know that they are really pretentious about their products and I hate that. Every time I buy something online unless I know already it'll be great, I research it for a few days on and off.
Does nobody miss like having a headset when you have a "desktop" mic? Don't have to worry about talking into the mic, don't have to worry about how far i am away or what direction i am looking at etc. Not sure if my desktop mics have jsut been universaly shitty but thats pretty much my experience.
I haven't had a problem with my shitty $10 Dick Smith brand desktop mic. The people I'm talking to can hear and understand me when I talk, and that's basically all I need from a mic (It's not like I'm a content creator or recording anything with the mic). And if you really want a headset configuration but with good headphones, there's always the Antlion Modmic. http://www.modmic.com/collections/frontpage You buy a good pair of headphones, stick the modmic on it, bam, instant good-quality headset. Plus if one part of it breaks, rather than having to throw out the entire setup like you do with an all-in-one headset, you can just replace the part that broke.
You know, you think with Gamergate casting the spotlight on corrupt internet blog sites pretending to be legitimate journalism recently, you think they would know better than to pull dishonest, insulting bullshit like this.

They're wearing their biases on their sleeves, it says right in the headline that this article is a paid advertisement for Turtle Beach, that's about as honest as you can get.
Why do those shitty wires coil that much
Absolutely shameless advertising You know, this is only marginally better than the spambots that keep showing up here
Do not buy "gaming" headsets, just buy headphones with good music quality (audio technica m50 for example) and a strap-on mic [editline]16th November 2014[/editline]
Do not buy "gaming" headsets, just buy headphones with good music quality (audio technica m50 for example, or comparable sennheiser models) and a strap-on mic
[editline]16th November 2014[/editline] holy shit you can't edit your posts what
I still think PCGamesN is one of the worst news bots we've had.
Why by turtle beach when companies like audio technica exist? Guess it's preference.
Different price points and it's not common for actually good audio companies to have a built in microphone. On top of that most gaming headphones comes with accessories like a 360 plug as well. And last, but not least - the majority of people don't hear the difference.
And last, but not least - the majority of people don't hear the difference.
not really, they just don't know any better
Turtle Beach headsets aren't THAT bad. My X11's lasted me 3 years and were really great. Although there is far superior headsets to be buying. I don't think I'll be trading in my Logitech G930 any time soon.

Why should I sacrifice quality for slight convenience?
I'm using some Turtle Beach Earforce PLa headphones right now. Review? 1.) Random high pitched whines for no good fucking reason 2.) You can hear the mic through your headphones if what you do is loud enough, even if there's nothing recording or anything 3.) At least it has a 10 fucking foot cord and is compatible with my PS3, that's cool I guess. 4.) Nice color scheme 5.) Anything treble is fucked if it's too loud. It just crackles because fuck you. This is clearly a bass-oriented headphone that's being sold as a gaming headset. 6.) Has a lovely bendable microphone. 7.) Fits comfortably as long as you don't wear it for mildly ridiculous time periods 8.) Comes with a Turtle Beach sticker, so take that however you want to.
Well it's not like they're wrong on their points on what makes a good pair of headphones/headset...
Armaco headsets are the best headsets.
I never did buy a turtle beach headset before and probably won't because right now I am satisfied with the playstation wireless gold headset that I got for better voice communications on the PS4, as my Logitech G930 does not have very good voice controls for the PS4 and made specifically for the PC.
2.) (which in hindsight was a nice feature because now* he ends up unintentionally yelling a lot.) *naturally, the hinges broke.
ATH - M50s + Any mic = best budget gaming headset
I still think PCGamesN is one of the worst news bots we've had.
RPS. [editline]a[/editline] Even though it's a sponsored article; at least they made it brightly clear that it was, instead of a sly note on the bottom of the page. Also hello Tim.

I have to disable the mic while I work with my headphones on because it's so fucking obnoxious to exhale and hear a big bassy static. Maybe if it was a togglable feature on the headphones for me to make sure it's positioned well before actually playing a game, but it's not.
