The Elder Scrolls Online announced - Sensationalist Headlines

I hope the engine doesn't suck, and that they strive for the gritty elder scrolls fantasy look. The good thing with the elder scrolls series getting an mmo is the amount of lore the series contains, but they went for the 'millennia before' route so they could easily screw it up.

So yeah. I guess that's a wave goodbye to actual real time combat for one.

If they plan on trying to make this game play the same as the single player campaigns (story wise and such), an mmo would be terrible for this. However, The game has a brilliant universe rich in lore, history, events, places, and settings that would make for just a fantastic MMO setting. Just don't try to make it singleplayer but online while at the same time, please don't make it like WoW. Other than all of that i'm very excited to see what this brings, i'm a bit shocked at FP's opinion about this. It seems you guys were always saying how it'd be great to have a multiplayer TES.

I'm looking forward to this :(

It's being made on the SWTOR engine.

It's an interesting experiment, sure, but I'd prefer a free-roam co-op Elder Scrolls over an MMO.

I'm just going to be optimistic about it and hope it's fun and doesn't fuck with the story or anything.

Five bucks says that it's going to try too hard to be the next Ultima Online and fall flat on its face.

the art looks more on the lines of morrowind... It's going to be hard to improve the graphics similar to oblivion and Skyrim when facing on a mmo direction... just imagine the lag it will be when you see 300 players in the imperial city in oblivion? you can hardly load the game or end up crashing... Considering this is being developed by Zenimax Studios, I have not heard much good news, and it seems this game going to be bad... I rather have some company with enough pretige to be able to make such a game of a famous IP or it will become as bad as warhammer Online was.

What I did point out is that it is in fact using the same engine, and, the engine itself doesn't seem to be that good. I just pointed out that once again they seem to be selecting a bad engine to use in their game.
