What does an indie MOBA look like? Meet Lightbulb Crew's Games of Glory
Why do all MOBAs have to be the exact same gameplay? Can we get one that doesn't only use your mouse and a few keys? I would play a first person MOBA.
Smite is a third person MOBA, and I think they have done a pretty good job at it, there are some 40+ gods to play from and they all have their different nuances.
Super Monday Night Combat was another first/third person one, I really loved that game but the playerbase completely died out before the game even released because of their shoddy promotion decisions and total lack of matchmaking balancing on free weekends (Newbies being put against veterans, getting owned and never playing again)
I wish they'd spent that time, money and energy on a solid RTS instead.
It's similar to MOBA/ARTS. Except the exact opposite of oversaturated. And in my opinion a much better genre.
Well Heroes of the Storm has no lasthitting mechanic, no items, more focus on objectives and many unique characters i.e Abathur or Murky so I'd say they're doing a fair job in making it different.
There already is a MOBA called Prime World that does the no items/more focus objectives, but in a different way: There is no xp or gold, just prime, and each character has a set of active and passive talents that you can modify outside of matches. There is no leveling in the game, you automatically level up when you learn a new talent (6 tiers of 5 talents, each higher tier is unlocked when your character reaches X level).
Man, that game could have been pretty good, a shame it's barely played by anyone and it's developed by russians and they really like to rub P2W stuff in your face, plus the whole character unlock system they have is retarded (characters are player level restricted, and you need to grind ridiculous amounts of currency to unlock each, though by the time you reach each level you more or less have enough to get them. and ofcourse cash currency lets you skip those restrictions.).
