He's not denying anything, he's insisting always-on is the future, this isn't looking good.
If he's so protective about it, it probably means that the Xbox will always be online and will fail horribly.

to be fair, onways-online could very well be the least intrusive form of DRM. it takes much more effort to crack, nearly unnoticeable, and doesn't hinder the customer's experiences (when it works). The only problem being that internet services can't support that kind of stuff atm, leading to all sorts of connectivity issues.
that's probably why it's the future - because it certainly doesn't work in the present

Rumor: Next Xbox to require the buyer to be retarded

but what if i don't like unions
honestly, i have an ultra stable internet occasion that only goes down like.. once a month for maybe 5 minutes at a time.
even though always-online DRM will not affect me at all, i think it's dumb as hell that developers/publishers want to force this dumb always-online shit on EVERYONE just because the majority of the players have stable connections.
I wounder why he locked his twitter account..

he's a big idiot and his dumb opinions were probably posted on /v/ or reddit or something so he's getting railed on

I thought the 360 required it already?
The amount of times my 360 would not connect to the internet while every other device connected just fine.
My xbox live ran out last week, i feel no need to renew as the PS3's psn+ is amazing compared to shitty live.
Actually the current xbox already has always online DRM, although only when you purchase a full game digitally.

After you download the game you can play it just fine all day long offline.
Unless you count the need to be online when you download the game as always online DRM. In which case I would slap you and call you retarded.

As a Virginian I shall contribute to the cause!
You know, this whole rumor started here on Facepunch ub a thread about vgleaks getting the supposed Durango specs. The leak said that the console would have varying states of power so that even when it was turned "ofF" it would retain a minimal connection so it could update itself. Somehow people equated this to always-on DRM, not being able to play the console unless connected to the internet, or not baing able to start games unless connected to the internet. Somebody must have run to Kotaku with it because within a day or two they had like 30 articles on the subject siting "anonymous sources" as proof. The whole rumor is astoundingly absurd. How anybody with a shred of common sense would believe that a company would make an entire console require an internet connection is well beyond me. As far as always-on DRM for ganes goes, that would be on the developer/publisher not an inherent feature of the console. And we all know how that has been working for Diablo III and SimCity.
Long story short, this rumor is stupid.
