Do videogame developers/producers listen to the community when they come up with projects? I'm sure someone at DICE/EA would have noticed the community's want for a 2142 or even a 1942 sequel. What I'm mainly sick of in Modern Military shooters (apart from the subgenre itself) is the focus on super secret agent level black spec operators. How about some character drama driven story about some relatable human grunts in one conflict (yeah, yeah Spec Ops:The Line, I mean featuring real soldiers with a bit of that authenticity that "Danger Close" seem to be chasing), not a ridiculous globe jumping action thriller about autonomous mega-alphas with weird triangle head daughters (MoH:Warfighter reference for those lucky enough not to play it).

Yay EA..
Well bite my ass, I can't help but be intrigued in the least.
I'm interested in seeing if they actually manage to change the gameplay so much that it's worth buying. Apparently it'll even use the same engine as BF3.
Fuck this shit, just make Mirror's Edge 2 already.
You can tell this is going to be a serious war shooter because they aren't wearing masks. Looking at the "screenshots", I was reminded of Black Hawk Down somewhat (It was mainly the second pic). I'd like a nextgen adaptation of that, but if it means getting dragged down with CoD/BF's kiddieshit mechanics, nosiree [editline]March 16[/editline]
yeah, modern warfare's model of favoring precipitation over protective headgear
You know he's badass because he doesn't even give a shit about protective gear
As soon as this may be, I'm actually excited for this since it will be next gen and thus most likely for one not be stuck with 2004 era hardware. In other words I think we can expect some really fancy GPU raping graphics.
Aaand there we go. EA has turned Dice into another cow to milk for money. Bastards.
Friend has seen the SP trailer (he works at EASY studios) and says it doesn't look as good as ea makes it up to be, he says the graphics are great though. I'll link him the imgur.com pics and see if they're legit (if he can tell)

Look's like they're taking on the Modern Warfare model
How about I just save them some time for the next one:
I miss having other battlefield games between the main ones :(
As a game, I find BF3 borderline acceptable. I know this is pretty drastic and unrealistic but I wish they would take elements from Arma rather than go down the CoD route. I think even the 'casuals' (not uncompetetive but just want to plug and play) would appreciate a little more seriousness in gameplay because a game where it actually takes skill is much more rewarding. Personally Arma does it for me, hands down, but I will still get Battlefield so that I can play with my mates (everyone plays console). I wish someone would make a world war 1/2 game. I really dont know how you would get it to work because an entire game spent in a trench would suck and WW2 would be a massive logistical challenge. But there is something so enticing about the World Wars id love a game about them. Maybe campaign wise it would be something like the Total War Games, Middle Earth Games IDK
I will never not regret the 170 dollars i wasted on BF3, bought it on xbox, then PC then the DLC pass, I cant even get through the campaign
My GTX 260 just shot itself.
Mine fried itself the other day. Good thing I'm upgrading, no way I could play anything like BF4.
Call me a skeptic, but this stuff is from EA China, right? Might be leaked stuff of some F2P Battlefield game.
One thing we gotta take into account is how many people were still playing those games when they were shut down?
Battle for Middle Fucking Earth and it's expansion's online community would like a word with EA...
Not nearly as stupid as the persistence of the modern warfare theme.
I quite like modern warfare themes, but I'd really like to see a game set in the future, like 2142. It just gets very boring to see the same old things. I really don't know what they are gonna come up with in BF4 to make it better and different from BF3. Kind of interesting...
Is this really it? Kind of interesting...
Pretty sure those were fake a while ago from a BF3 live action trailer without the post effects.
Can't help but feel like BF3 was the beta for BF4. Like they were in the process of finishing BF4 when they needed more funds, they created a half-assed BF3. Not another dollar from me EA. You sneaky bastard you.
Pretty sure those were fake a while ago from a BF3 live action trailer without the post effects.
Ah poo. Guess we'll be getting more blue...
Pretty sure those were fake a while ago from a BF3 live action trailer without the post effects.
aww man i thought that they'd made some absurdly detailed models there
Looks like BF4 will probably be BF3 with stuff/vehicles from Premium. We haven't seen anything yet but right now I think it's too soon and won't deliver enough new content.
They see good marketing as 60 pre-orders and then selling the entire package a year later for 50. So anyone who gets it on release or early gets fucked by 60 bucks. Someone else can buy this for me, but I am not giving them a cent.
um. game of the year editions?

Not another dollar from me EA. You sneaky bastard you.
BF3 was still a pretty fucking complete game. The core game is pretty great still, not as big as DICE wanted clearly, but still very good. It's fun, the mechanics are tight, varied (even the corridor hell of Metro isn't quite as repetitive as I thought it would be). But it does feel like it's lacking something in places. I wouldn't call it a beta for BF4, but it does seem more like a pilot for Frostbite on larger scales. The Bad Companies were tests for Frostbite in general, BC2 being the test for the PC implementation. But BF3 seems like they were testing the game for bigger maps and players.
