• The End For The Red Faction Series?

I was hoping that with it being in caves again, that they implemented terrain destruction back in but apparently no, it was just a step back from all the other RF games, first they removed the terrain destruction but the improved building destruction and open world in RFG compensated for that in my opinion, now they also removed the open world. Just give us RFG with dynamic terrain destruction.
The one really good thing about RFA was the weapons, everything else was average at best. Also THQ are a terrible company, Red Faction and Saints Row are the only games I've baught from them in years, almost everthing else I see from them is wrestling.
Red Faction in Mars, it was very cool destruction wise and all. Kind of sad news but that's what happens when people lose interest so that it's not profitable for the devs anymore. Unless they take a risk and create a new better Red Faction which would sell.
Red Faction 1 was the best one.
Great game, but that stealth section...
Maybe if people from the UK on Steam could have bought it it would have done better.
Aliens were trapped way before anyone even lived on Mars by who knows what. On top of that Darius was a wanted man, he couldn't just walk out all willy nilly and they didn't know the aliens couldn't survive in clean air.
Darius was only wanted after he let them out, which was several years after the terraformer blew up or whatever. At any point in those years he could have done it. Plus I'm fairly sure the aliens were sealed in there by Ultor, since they had a base in the alien's lair it's self and in one of the Audio logs Capek orders the sealing of the shaft. Plus S.A.M says that the oldest thing in the room are the statues, not the thing covering the shaft.
honestly not a huge fan of the new direction in games
The third game set a standard making people want that open world experience. By taking it away, THQ fucked themselves over. I personally would buy for a DLC for Guerrilla that gave you the repairing abilities of the 4th game. I love blowing shit up in Guerrilla .
Now think about this: Do not buy the game: "Okay, we will drop this, Red Faction is obviously not good enough" Buy the game: "Okay, they think this direction is fucking awesome, let's continue with it".
I don't understand why people hated RF:A so much, I personally loved it. Yeah, the story has a few holes but who gives a shit, the game was just outright fun to me. I especially loved the segment with the Inferno GX - Such a nice Descent reference by Volition, as short as it was.
I would have bought Red Faction Armageddon but there are just too many games coming out this year to buy instead. Hopefully they bring back the series for next-gen stuff.
The series would've been better without RF2, honestly.
I like THQ's mentality: "Hmm, our sales are dipping. Must be Red Faction. Now how's the progress on Homefront 2? That should be a big seller."
RF:A ruined it.

With every assault rifle having camouflage on it and a digital sight.
The series would've been better without RF2, honestly.
I thought Red Faction 2 was good, but it probably would have been better as a spin-off as opposed to being a proper numbered sequel what with it being set on Earth and all that.

I don't think even the CoD fans that bandwagon bought it are going to keep the series afloat.
I thought the Red Faction series was fucking brilliant. Loved the first, the second lost me a bit but playing split screen with friends kept me into it. Then I got Guerrilla and fucking loved the game. Then came Armageddon which just didn't seem as good as Guerrilla to me. It was too...Linear? Not sure if that is the word but the open world feature in Guerrilla made it brilliant. I never really got into Armageddon at all.
Wellp, one of my favorite game franchises is gone. :suicide:
