i sure as heck cant tell. they all still sound like the same 10 people
at least in oblivion those 14 people sounded distinct [editline]3rd June 2013[/editline]
It'd be neat if you could port Oblivion into Skyrim's combat engine.
skyblivion, look it up
By my PERSONAL preference, I enjoy Oblivion more than Morrowind or Skyrim. Skyrim the least of all. It's still good, though, don't get me wrong.
I don't get it why everyone just loves Morrowind. Do some people just absolutely love giant mushrooms and a combat system that manages to be even more boring than Oblivion and Skyrim? Or is it just the nostalgia factor?
I thought Morrowind was simply a lot more interesting to explore than what Oblivion and Skyrim offered. As far as Elder Scrolls go, the exploration of the game's world is the most important part about it, so I can forgive the more awkward parts of the gameplay if that makes any sense. I still enjoy Oblivion and Skyrim though.
Joining a guild at the bottom of the ranks shouldn't qualify you for serious business. I personally do not like games throwing me quests to save the day when I'm a no-body, completely immersion breaking and forgoes the pacing of writing. The glory isn't worth having if I haven't worked for it and have no emotional investment.
No, I do agree, but it did start to feel tedious when you were a member of like four different groups doing that same stuff. I would like to see those types of quest lines in the next Elder Scrolls, just maybe toned down a bit from how it worked in Morrowind.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Voice_Actors theres like 70
Sucks Bethesda had the great idea of making them all say the exact same bullshit.
Out of all of them I hold Morrowind in the highest regard. Purely out of nostalgia and depth. Its whole atmosphere is something that no other game has been able to replicate. The same goes for the complexity of the armour/weapons and magic. Oblivion was a great game but they watered it down so people who weren't used to Morrowinds mechanics didn't have any trouble. The Skyrim just changed everything. I'm not sure if it was deliberate or not but they made it so simple that it broke the wall between gamers and non gamers. The hype was so massive because the series was so great everyone who had never heard of TES all of a sudden wanted Skyrim. And it seems like only the people who hadn't played the previous titles enjoyed it. Morrowind nowadays seems to be only enjoyed by people who played it back in the day and have no problems with it solely because it brings back fond memories.

Skyrim is fun because of how simple it is, but ultimately its simplicity also makes it a very boring game.
Sucks Bethesda had the great idea of making them all say the exact same bullshit.
they have two voice actors for the non-human races (one male and one female). Like, what the hell.
they have two voice actors for the non-human races (one male and one female). Like, what the hell.
there are two voice actors for all the elves and one guy voices all the male orcs, nords, argonians and khajiits in the game including unique there are 13 voice actors in the entire game, that's mental
Elder Scrolls keeps getting watered down as each game is released, it's a shame. Morrowind did have clunky combat and cliff racers, but it still had a better story than Oblivion or Skyrim. Oblivion introduced some neat stuff and with mods it basically made it on a similar level as morrowind for greatness. Skyrim has half the content cut out of the last games and was just made to look prettier, blame consoles for limiting game sizes to less than 7gb on disc. Still, each game is worth playing, but some are more classic than others.
yeah skyrim has a total of like, 10 voice actors.
At least the characters don't switch voice actors and/or accents at random partway through conversations in Skyrim. It's like everyone had a split personality in Oblivion. Their "normal" personality and a ridiculous mock Scottish personality.

At least in Oblivion most of the characters you'd meet in the cities would introduce themselves. I don't think I've met a single NPC in skyrim that does that.
While Skyrim has better combat when compared to the three it was simply too easy. Within an hour of the game I have already established myself as the baddest motherfucker in the entirety of the land while in Morrowind you weren't shit until a few days have passed and even then it was to a small degree. I also preferred how the main quest in Morrowind wasn't shoved down your throat like it was in Skyrim, all you had to do was get off the boat and that was that while Oblivion and Skyrim both had tutorials that attempted to set the stage for some grand epic adventure. And on a final note, I preferred how in Morrowind you weren't really anybody, just some guy who got off the boat and in Oblivion you were the guy helping the main hero. The Dragonborn role in Skyrim was just kinda given to you and I didn't really feel like I earned it.
Skyrim's quests in general weren't interesting. Oblivion took you places. Let you meet new people. Skyrim took you to places to clear out caves and do boring dungeons.
morrowind -> oblivion ->>>>>>>>>>> skyrim skyrim is one of the worst and most disappointing games i've played in the past five years, buy this, uninstall skyrim and forget it ever existed

No one cares about Arena and Daggerfall :I
Yeah but everyone is too similar in skyrim. At least in Oblivion most of the characters you'd meet in the cities would introduce themselves.
jesus dude
Every time I walked through Whiterun I get these annoying dicks giving you their life story, it wouldn't be so bad if they said something different every time, but when this kid keeps walking up and saying the same line for the 50th time it gets infuriating
compared to oblivions 5 its an improvement
I don't know, in Skyrim 9 of those are reserved for one character
No one cares about Arena and Daggerfall :I
I think Arena is pretty bad but Daggerfall is freaking amazing for its sheer scale. Alas, it's so unbelievably volatile, you're best served playing it with the mindset that something horrible is going to happen that will crash the game and corrupt your saves, or make quests impossible to complete if you're lucky. Still my favourite TES game after Morrowind, though.
I've never actually had a save get corrupted in my hundreds of hours of playing daggerfall, though maybe that's because I make sure I had all the unofficial fixes and patches. It's odd, despite not having grown up on it like Morrowind, I have played it much more and I have an easier time going back and playing more Daggerfall then I do with Oblivion or Morrowind.

If you don't own oblivion, it's worth getting just for the chance to play Nehrim.
Morrowind yesterday, Oblivion today? What next, Skyrim tomorrow, or the original Arena or Daggerfall?
Arena and Daggerfall are abandonware, you can download them for free of beth's website.
It was clunky but as far as atmosphere, story, and quests go it's a much better game. It's a trend that seems to be happening for Elder Scrolls right now. With each entry Bethesda revised, simplified, and streamlined a lot of stuff which made the gameplay smoother, but by removing the complexity you take away more and more of the game each time. It's why even though Skyrim is the smoothest game in the series so far, as far as the actual game goes it's pretty shit actually. They took a lot of the RPG away from it which is why it seems to play the exact same way every time you play it regardless of what race or attributes you pick in the beginning; and there's really no consequences to the choices you make. It's still an okay game to me, but definitely not as fun or interesting as the previous ones.
I loved Morrowind's plot and setting. The island of Vvanderfell just felt far more original and interesting than any fantasy setting I have thus far encountered. However the combat is fucking wretched, your character moves like a fat glacier (during the beginning) and the games controls and combat are clunkier than an old rusty shitbox. I really do wish I could love that game like some people do, but the honestly terrible gameplay really kills it for me. I would take simplistic but smooth and functional gameplay like Skyrim any day over the massively over-complicated, clunky, and dull gameplay of Morrowind any day. Hell, and I know I am going to get flack up the bunghole for this, but I think the gameplay in the Modern Warfare games is even more solid and enjoyable than Morrowinds. Does that make them better games? Hell no, but it does make them more fun to play. I suppose Morrowind isn't about how it plays though, it is about the experience. It is all about your tolerance level, and mine is just exceptionally low. Well, let the boxes flow.
