I fucking have started to love the Silent Hill game franchise lately been playing through them all done 2 and 3 most of one and started 4 until i get a ps1 memory card and honestly yeah it doesnt follow the story of the games and has thrown in quite a lot of random shit in there like the seal of metatron and stuff but i am excited about this movie since they really have gotten the whole transfer to the nightmare world dow really well and they have still got the basic plot. I mean seriously who wants to watch a movie where the lead goes up to every door checking whether the door has a broken lock?
But sh3 had the worst story of any of them Why
But sh3 had the worst story of any of them Why
All of the games have been *character goes through personal torment* SH3 was something beyond just that. If anything it's got more story than most of the games.
I mean, I respect the movies on their own But they definitely can't reproduce the same feeling as the games.. maybe if the producers decided to work more on the story and less on the pop out scare shit then we could have better horror movies.. Directors need to focus more on ambiance and story for sure.
I like this movie because it has the best acronym. SHR3D
I care about the games and I'm still going to see this. People are just too butthurt over the story not being 100% exact to the games but fact is first movie was actually pretty decent throwing aside that it does not stay true to the game story-wise. The first is literally the only good game-movie out there. I mean seriously people can't see past OMG NOT SAME STORY and just look at it as an actual film hence all the hate.
Fun fact: the writer of the Silent Hill movie co-wrote Pulp Fiction.
its not the story that bothers people, its the enemies and symbolism when you have a protagonist that doesn't get explained well or explained at all, you can't really see why silent hill even exists to them yeah its still the best videogame movie franchise, but its still not faithful by any stretch of the imagination
Well the movies take most of plotlines from the first and third games and those games specifically don't have the whole "enemies representing some form of the characters torment" so it wouldn't make much sense to include it.

Playing a game and watching a movie are two very different things, it's impossible to replicate the personal sense of dread and fear you get playing a game in a movie.
all of the games had that though hell, even downpour has it to a really shallow extent
1 and 3 was Alessa's view not the character's personal torment.
Also the fact that they made Harry a woman for no reason.
i really don't like that they're sticking pyramidhead in it again
i really don't like that they're sticking pyramidhead in it again
I was hoping for that uber creepy twitchy head guy, he didn't even have to attack you to scare the shit out of you.
Can't wait to see all BDSM monsters!

This one is just taking the story and characters straight from a game and it's not even the best SH game.
Silent Hill: Brotherhood
The first Silent Hill movie was absolutely beautiful visually but also completely retarded. I particularly hated how at the end the antagonist explained the entire plot to remove any sense of ambiguity and make it clear just how much they pulled out their asses just to have a few game monsters on-screen. It amazes me how Hollywood can be so clueless as to make their film even less subtle than a videogame.

(as someone who didn't play any of the games, and just knows a few things about them like ashes rain, there's a pyramid head guy, and monsters = personal fears. also, grate fences everywhere. :v:)
I hope they do not exagerate the CGI effects on monsters, tons of horror movies are being raped by CGI which makes it really silly. It just takes away from the atmosphere, I prefer actual costumes much more instead of that animated trash.
I hope they don't have many CGI monsters, most of the monsters from the first film were costumes.
I saw something that vaguely looked like the doll boss from homecoming, was the only CGI looking thing I saw in the trailer. Apart from Pyramid Head rotating a carousel that shits pretty funny.
"THE PLACE THAT HELL CALLS HOME" "IN 3D!!!!" "PYRAMID HEAD, PYRAMID HEAD, PYRAMID HEAD!" Uhhhh, no thanks. I have too much respect for the games to throw money at this. I also saw in some preview thing the nurse scene where Vincent (Who apparently is now some highschool aged love interest) was on the table and it was so campily done, like as if it was trying to be comical or something. I feared that might happen when I heard the same people behind the over the top silly resident evil movies were making this.
Sean Bean for worst faked American accent on screen 2006 and 2012
Every time I see Sean Bean in a movie like this, I just go "Oh come on, you were Sharpe for fuck's sake."
