Valve doesn't have a schedule. People are free to move to whatever department they choose in the company as and when they want to.
They have schedules, like any other company.
I'm really curious what the Chemistry and Language Arts lessons will be.
This is great, but it's been proven that video games are the root of all evil.
They should do something with garry's mod, that would be cool :P
Valve has set the bar so high, they could jump off of it and fly around the Oort Cloud.
i wish i was back in grade school again :(
Damn it, why did I have to be born in 1990? Life really is unfair :(
Damn it, why did I have to be born in 1990? Life really is unfair :(
I'd rather see new generations grow up with this like an awesome thing we never had instead of taking it for granted. The more awesome things are and the more we wish we could of had it like that, the better it is. That means things are just getting better and better.
I'm sure this will help motivate kids to learn, a brilliant idea in my opinion.
If EA did this, everyone in this thread would be accusing them of only doing it for marketing and trying to bring in more customers.
Which is exactly what Valve does, but they do it so in a way that the customers want to give them money, not feel like they're being robbed.
Garry's mod would be a good idea.
Garry's mod would be a good idea.
Education gamemode for GMod 13. ... that was meant as a joke but it actually sounds pretty neat.
Now if only my school didn't waste money on all our sports teams and actually spent something on our educational classes. :v:
looks like game design in on the list and if in the video the 7th graders used hammer I assume hammer lessions are in order. http://www.teachwithportals.com/index.php/category/lesson_plans/math/
They get to use Hammer? Those lucky sons of bitches, I'm stuck with CAD and ProDesktop of all things. (Fuck you ProDesktop I hate you.)
Is there (or will there be) any (legal) way for someone who isn't in school anymore to get a hold of and "play" these lessons? I don't want to do a dickish thing like pretend to be a teacher at a made-up school, but I really want to experience these lessons. I feel like it would be a fun way for me to really understand all the fundamental stuff in maths, physics and chemistry etc. much better. Quite frankly, I hardly remember any of the stuff I learned or should have learned back in the day. Sometimes it's annoying the shit out of me, but I'm way too lazy to reread all the old school books and memorize their contents.
My math teacher already did some portal gaming and math/physics talk with us when I was in highschool, gonna spam him with this!

i wish i can learn this in physics next year :v:

They're going to get kids to make Half-Life 3. Can't wait!
