• DICE on Battlefield patches: 'We can't win'

Apart from the M26 they're doing ok so far. DICE should really split up their update cycle in 'quick fixes' and 'big balance updates' because we shouldn't have to wait so long for that glaring M26 bug to get fixed.

And I heard something about xbl wanting money for patches or something but I might be completely wrong, if so feel free to blame me and put eternal shame onto my name.

"Developed for PC's...but only when Sony says it's okay"
I like the patches so fare I just miss not having a 12x scope on guns that are not a part of the Recon kit. I have my reasons for needing one and no I am not a camper.
Sounds exactly like one of my friends when the patch came to 360. "It used to be good, now it just sucks, everything is butt now." I told him, "It's called balancing.."
It finally came out on Xbox? I can now play the game. :v:
Didn't they release DLC packs that shortcuts the multiplayer and unlocks all the guns and equipment? I'm fairly sure that will piss of most rather than please them.
Oh no, people can buy all the unlocks if they don't feel like ranking up! Oh...no...?
m26 dart bug explained: dice tweaked the m26 dart damage ratings but some guy screwed up and set what was going to be the gun's entire damage infliction to the damage rating for one pellet per round so in the game the m26 dart's damage is 12 times higher than what it's supposed to be (12 pellets per shotgun shell)
No that's not it. When you sling the MASS under an assault rifle with heavy barrel, the projectiles get the damage from the AR bullet. If you're using M26 DART on G3A3, it's 12x 34-22, with Slug it's 1x 34-22. The three problems with the game at the problem is the Paper tanks, M26 bug and the extreme suppression. Just give the tanks a bit better health, remove the bug and reduce the supression a bit and blam. Games perfect. (Also fix the stingers.)
But the guys who were actually playing the game claimed after a thousand hours, I hate your game. It's the worst game ever. You should listen to me because I spent a thousand hours in it. It's like, well you're not really hating it. You're loving it so much that you get upset about these things."
Hit the nail on the head right there.
They've already fixed paper tanks with a server update. [editline]28th April 2012[/editline] That's DICE for ya.
Why.
Maybe they would win if they could patch the stupid fall damage, at least when you fall in water.
People were complaining about supression, but I actually like it now. Maybe it could be toned down a bit, but I like how supression is actually important now.
My god the suppression, first thing I noticed that had a change to it, I used to be able to run into buildings and wouldn't mind billions of projectiles going past my face, now so much as a sniper looking in my direction makes my guy shiver with fear. It's really good what they've done with suppression, like the fact you cant continuously gun down people who are shooting at you without losing accuracy, happened today, was gunning down a bunch of people, they started shooting back, my accuracy went from 100% to like -700%. Feels more realistic when you cant just tank everything.
People did this before the patch, though a global nerf to shotguns and not even touching the M16A3 or M416 is a really confusing change. .
Thats because they built the game around those two guns. They want a balanced game so why would you nerf the starting weapons?
They could win if it didn't take them more than 3 months to release a client patch.
As someone who started playing after the patch was released, I didn't notice anything that was really OP. Some things like the FAMAS are UP as hell but otherwise, nothing else really seemed OP.
even the antenna on caspian border
I've only ever seen it fall once. Joined the game, and as I was choosing a spawn point(a jet, of course). The tower fell...and then the game ended. :(
Weekly updates would be nice, I think. Or you know, do like Valve with TF2.
They could win if it didn't take them more than 3 months to release a client patch.
It's fucking EA and Microsoft cancer. EA wants all patches released at the same time and on all platforms, but Microsoft charges like $100,000 dollars for every single little update or patch.
Dear Dice. Add Mod support so we don't have to play the 6 or so maps you made. Love the Players.

It's like, well you're not really hating it. You're loving it so much that you get upset about these things.
Except I hate it for several other reasons. I never hated BF2, or any other older game. They just buggered this one up too much.
Snip
Well I can't win at all because for some reason Origin won't let me download updates in my current country of residence >.<
If only dice created test severs, to test the patches with regular players before they roll out
They fixed the USAS w/ frags, added in a backout in the scoring thing, moved mortar spam out of spawn zones, now after they fix the underslung gun thing I'll be happy as a clam.

It's what I used to do.
They cannot win is an excuse. Maybe they cannot win against the game-breaking bugs. It's not that the community hates DICE, it's that you pay a good amount of money for a game that should work correctly; which it doesn't. Client-side netcode as well as lack of VOIP for PC for one
I wonder if this still crashes on my computer despite getting a decent framerate before it crashes.
