good fucking god no
rip
I'm sure we're all looking forward to a battle royale Deus Ex game.
... sigh. Oh well. It's not like people actually enjoy single player games, or anything.
I'm sure we're all looking forward to a battle royale Deus Ex game.
It's like CoD all over again.
I sure do love the developers of my own province. Aren't they the best ?
... sigh. Oh well. It's not like people actually enjoy single player games, or anything.
Single player games don't sell as well, and I'm fairly sure the last Deus Ex game didn't do well at all.
Yeah I'm not saying its really the developers fault, its more down to publisher bullshit. But the people that fund these games don't care if they're good or not or given the right amount of time. Destiny and Overwatch make money so they'll just redirect towards that.
also consider that the game was split into two by squenix and wasn't given the right amount of development time so they could sell you one game for 120 dollars
The game spent five years in development and had its release pushed back because it wasn't content-ready. There's a fine line between "not given enough time" and "too ambitious", there's a reason it got split in two that's more than just monetary. What a shame.
What a shame.
I never asked for this.
Rest in peace Big Eizzle
Here is what always annoys me about this sort of thing. You have a developer with a proven ip. They produce good games that are also profitable. Why do you then fuck with their entire design? Obviously to make more profit, but it is such a stupid way to go about it.
Capitalism is honestly ruining games.
Well it is at least somewhat ironic that greedy corporate business practices are probably going to be what kills Deus Ex
Hopefully instead of making some generic garbage, they make a Deus Ex type game with drop in-drop out multiplayer OR they somehow get around this by making the next Deus Ex have multiplayer like Watch_Dogs because in a series like this, it would make sense for people to try to come and kill you but it's going to be tough to make it not-frustrating in a game where your inventory matters.
Capitalism is honestly ruining games.
So people wanting to make money off of something they worked on = Ruining Games m'aight
Capitalism is honestly ruining games.
Most people who say stuff like this seem to have a very poor understanding of how capitalism works
Here is what always annoys me about this sort of thing. You have a developer with a proven ip. They produce good games that are also profitable. Why do you then fuck with their entire design? Obviously to make more profit, but it is such a stupid way to go about it.
Executives and higher-ups in the publisher chain don't see these sorts of things for the inherent value of the individual title. They just see the profit margins and the trends the industry has which they could try to capitalize on, and decide that if someone looks like it could make a solid profit, why not entangle other things in there? Dead Space 3 had two solid games and a solid concept the developers wanted to work on, but Electronic Arts stuck their fingers in and forced co-op play, more action including heavy advertising focus on gun-wielding foes that are a tiny portion of the game overall, microtransactions and attempts to force grinding or pay-to-win. Worse yet, while we focus on Ubisoft, Activision and Electronic Arts a lot, japanese companies like Capcom, Konami and Square-Enix have been steadily working their own bullshit. Street Fighter V won't allow players to earn Fight Money, the game's currency you grind to buy costumes and potentially characters, outside of timed events soon. We don't even need to go into what Konami's been doing the past few years, anyone familiar with Metal Gear Solid V likely has heard about it all a million times. And Square-Enix has fucked with and done some real severe stunts on some of their more western dev teams while trying to play a balancing act with the mobile market for easy money. Money is the bottom line, and it's their job to get it. To them, who cares if you force devs to implement some F2P-esque pile of shit and chop up the game for sequels, if it makes the profit back then it's reasonable to their viewpoint? Clearly you'll have pissed off fans, but also have their money because people are terrible at boycotting games. PR backlash like the "augment your pre-order" shit is what really shoots them in the foot, but you can be assured they'll find some alternative.
Capitalism is honestly ruining games.
We wouldn't have Deus Ex without capitalism. What an asinine statement. [editline]17th December 2017[/editline] This is one of those posts that treats capitalism as some kind of evil boogeyman assassinating video game developers in the night rather than a market force
Why do I feel like this online component is going to involve loot boxes?
i wonder why the last dx didnt do so well [t]https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/68b1578C0R-wvxdunLCM_10dTfM=/0x0:1920x1080/1600x900/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/47309528/DXMD_Augment_Your_PreOrder.0.0.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/jTRIQaYqHnI/maxresdefault.jpg[/t] also consider that the game was split into two by squenix and wasn't given the right amount of development time so they could sell you one game for 120 dollars
Plus optimization wasn't all that good.
I actually really enjoyed Mankind divided. The story sucked but all the side content in Prague was top notch. rip.
