So besides entertainment, what's the reward in PvP?
We don't exactly know yet, but Worlds are basically servers and there are 4 maps. One for each world and a middle ground one where everyone is pitted against the other servers. If you own a certain portion of the maps then your entire world will get bonuses like experience bonus and higher cash drops.
Chirno, get out. The game had 1 million sign up for the beta in 48 hours, isn't it logical that if you buy the game you can get early access? They'r not desperate for beta sign ups. Apparently you know nothing about the game so stop arguing about shit you don't know nothing about.
You should really start reading up on the game before you bash it's brains out. Anyways, instead of having an arena type thing you have 2v2 (I think) 4v4 and 8v8. You can enter at any level and everyone is given the same gear essentially. The gear is blue or red based on your team color and while you are in The Mists/PVP Area your skills and gear are automatically swapped out for level 80 gear and skills. You can then adjust your traits/talents and Utility bar to the way you want to play. So basically in WoW type scenario it would give everyone the best PVP gear of their specific class. No one can change their gear out for better gear which completely removes anyway someone could have an direct advantage over another player. All gear is completely balanced and can be balanced based on what class they need to rework. World v World v World is a bit different. Instead of giving everyone the best gear at 80 for PVP, it leaves your gear the same, but you are still scaled to level 80. This allows players to level in World v World and you can also kill other players and loot gear off of them. Not as balanced, but WvW is for huge battles and not for complete balance.
if its anything like the pvp server in gw1 you still have to unlock skills for the class you decided to play(either through pvp or from leveling on main realm) and im like, 70% sure that you could get better weapons(at least) with the currency you earned while playing...
GW2 is already hyped enough for it to sell like hotcakes anyway. I mean hell look at battlefield 3, even if it didn't have a beta all the hype it had was what made it such a successful release (not the game itself it was broken as shit)

The weapons in the Mists are also provided for you and you can probably only switch between the sets that they give you.
Apparently you know nothing about the game so stop arguing about shit you don't know nothing about.
haha this is funny to me nice post

Last MMO I played that had amazing PvP, Warhammer, pretty much flopped, I pray this game will not be the same. Just don't claim it to be a WoW killer and it won't die on the first day.
WoW is already dying, this will help :v:

skyrim collectors: 12' alduin artbook game map gw2 collectors: 10' charr artbook soundtrack concept art prints picture frame beta access some ingame items game
Not to mention the fact I bought a regular version of Skyrim and it had an artbook, the game and a map. So the 100 dollars you paid extra was solely for a 12' alduin?

Do you even know the meaning of dying? If we had an award of dumbest guy on facepunch you would win it.
you just posted that

I'm assuming some sort of honor points for cool looking gear, but nothing is confirmed. There's already a ton of people hoping to start a nice competitive scene for it.
You know Chirno, you're really living up to your namesake right now.
How does that work?
Let's do this in story mode: Say you just made a character, lv 1, no gear, no skills, w/e, and you can go to the pvp area (I'm not sure if there is a req, i think not) You go to the pvp area, where you get all skills unlocked, and you can pick what gear you want to wear. People drop "loot" as normal monsters would, this doesn't mean you lose anything when you die though. Now you are done pvp'ing, you got exp and items from doing the pvp, but nothing you wouldn't have gotten when you would have done pve. You go back to the pve area, and your skills are locked again (ofcourse if you had unlocked anything it stays unlocked) and you lose the pvp gear, but you keep the loot dropped by the players. I've spent too much time on the GW2 thread.:eng101:
You know Chirno, you're really living up to your namesake right now.
just doin what everyone else does in wow news threads its always funny to watch the FP bandwagons just sayin
First off, 1 million subscriber loss isn't "dying" when you have 12 million fucking subscribers. Secondly, if you actually do some research instead of making knee-jerk doom and gloom airmchair commentaries, you would know that the vast majority of those lost (roughtly 800k) where Chinese subscribers, who A) Are not playing the same WoW as EU/NA versions, and B) Live in Asia, where the F2P market is much more open and forward developed. WoW's not dying, sorry kids. It's going through a predictable slump, fueled by end-of-expansion fatigue and Chinese competition.
You know Chirno, you're really living up to your namesake right now.
You are too, kindof.
Do you even know the meaning of dying? If we had an award of dumbest guy on facepunch you would win it.
I dunno, people who go into a Guild Wars 2 thread and make off the handle, poorly researched claims about a random MMO are pretty dumb.

WoW is never going to die this guy doesn't foreshadow anything! [editline]14th March 2012[/editline] I just realised how fuckawfully off topic this thread has gotten. Personally this game is next on my list once I get some money, can't wait to preorder

Not to mention the fact that nothing nearly reaching a AAA F2P MMO has reached the west yet. Yeah WoW will eventually die but people seeing headlines mention subscriber slumps without reading why are just being silly.
So they lost a giant group of subscribers because F2P is a superior business strategy. WoW is never going to die this guy doesn't foreshadow anything!
you realize f2p is superior there because most of the time theyre limited(forced limitations) in the amount of time they can play
just doin what everyone else does in wow news threads its always funny to watch the FP bandwagons just sayin
So you went as far down as the double digit IQ anti WoW troll, on an unrelated game, because they do it to your precious WoW threads? Thus you have become what you hate.
They'll probably use the $1 = €1 conversion rate for us, Europeans.
yea, this was discussed on the GW2 thread aswell, and it turns out they do. Also 1 dollar = 1 pound. Really unfair trading rates if you ask me, means I pay 200 dollars for the collectors edition. [editline]edited[/editline] Not using symbols cuz I have no clue how to make a pound symbol on this keyboard.
you realize f2p is superior there because most of the time theyre limited(forced limitations) in the amount of time they can play
I don't get your point here, are you supporting monthly subscriptions when nearly every f2p mmo or game has proven it's a much more successful strategy? WoW's only raked in so much money from subscriptions because it was around for about 6 years before f2p became popular.
