DayZ was part of the Steam Summer Sale and Dean Hall doesn't know why

Still can't get past 15 FPS on my GTX 680. My friends PCs are the same way and they all have 770s and R9 290s.
Iunno man, I'm running on 1080 medium-high settings and getting >40 FPS most of the time (the only time when I'm not is specifically in high pop servers in one of the two major cities in the south) and I'm running an i3 and a Radeon 6870 on a rig that's nearly six years old. I don't know what you're doing, but this game is definitely playable in a decent state on even an older setup.
I think the game is fun as fuck and if you don't, well, that sucks, I'm sorry you dropped your money on an unfinished game expecting it to run like a finished, polished product.
Also, you may want to try it now if you were having problems, as an update or two ago they implemented some basic optimization fixes for some cards after doing some testing with Nvidia and AMD, and I know that one, maybe both, of the companies just recently released drivers that specifically include updates to improve performance with DayZ on some cards. So that might be worth looking into.
I would've payed the full price of the beta JUST to have zombies not walk through walls. That is they ONLY thing I wanted them to do, but like an idiot I bought in a few months ago assuming that after like two years in development they would have fixed that ONE thing. FUCKING. FUCK. ONE THING. FUCK EVERYTHING EVERYTHING ELSE, JUST FIX THAT ONE THING YOU FUCKERS.
The games unfinished, sure, but there is fun to be found. You don't have to make shit up just because you're bitter. I find the fun in interacting with other people and a bit of roleplaying. If you're just playing it like a deathmatch, that's your choice, but it's really not the best way to play it. And KOS isn't as prevalent as people make it out to be.
I haven't played the game for awhile because I'm waiting for them to develop more systems. All I really want is a good hunting system, better zombies, and the ability to stash loot.
Netcode too.

the worst thing that could have happened with DayZ was sticking with the ARMA engine
now it's outdated before it's even out of alpha
And the main project lead is also going to abandon DayZ in the fall.
this line alone proves that you don't know what you're talking about
[editline]20th June 2014[/editline]
like, yeah its buggy and dean is a colossal moron for sticking with the terrible arma 2 engine, but him leaving won't really affect shit considering they've got an entire team working on the game.
Day Z should never have been put on sale at all in its current state. I'm not sure if zombies still clip through walls, but that's just ridiculous. I expect at least something like KSP or Minecraft Alpha/Beta when I have to pay for a game.
Also, yes I might be a bit angry with Day Z because I wasted a lot of money on it and it completely turned me away from most if not all Early Access games.
I know that a lot of people are on this level, but the point of Early Access isn't to play a game with most or even some of the main features. It's to support it's development. Rocket even said if you want something even playable, wait a year, and that was when the game was released.
It's also the most pitiful summer sale
Do you also criticize music albums based on 1-2 songs?

the engine arma runs is more cpu intensive than gpu intensive

i7 4770k master race here overclocked to 4.3ghz.
[editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
I wish I could edit my post. But yeah I really don't understand the problem on my end. I'll just wait it out and that's fine since they said they were going to hike the price of the game up when it was actually finished.
I really just want an improved DayZ mod experience. I had a lot of fun with the mod, and even though the zombies were broken they were still a threat. Food was pretty scarce too until you got an axe, matches, and knife.
I don't recommend this game to anyone. It's nothing but boring open world PvP that can barely run at 20 frames per second on a GTX 680 system.
And the main project lead is also going to abandon DayZ in the fall. This means that the game will NEVER EVER be finished. And why should it? They've already made millions from a broken game that isn't even on par with the mod.
.. Could people who have no idea about how games or software are developed not claim that projects which are run by companies are abandoned when a project leader leaves?
They would get nothing but bad PR from abandoning DayZ in it's current state, and I'm sure the developers in the project feel strongly about it enough to not just drop it.
This is no longer a mod project run by a guy and a couple of people who have joined him, it is a full fledged game projcet run by a company and people assigned to work on the specific project.
They'll look into their current development team/company and find someone else who they find suitable to head development of DayZ.
Hell you don't even need to be a developer to understand that it won't be abandoned, just think for a second :v:
I don't know about you but 35 fps on all low settings with 800x600 resolution is not perfectly fine. I'm not poor after all; I payed for a quality system build and I expect better from a company that has made tens of millions of dollars in profits off of this title.
You're so full of shit. I can run this game on 35fps on all low at 1080p on my Intel core 2 E6750 and a Gtx760.
[editline]22nd June 2014[/editline]
Even more full of shit if you genuinly have an i7 4770k.
[editline]22nd June 2014[/editline]
the only way to get such a bad performance on that rig is by coating everything inside your pc with a thick layer of grease, hair and dust.

Well it's my fault really. I found out that I was forcing 32x CSAA in my Nvidia Control Panel. I really don't know how that happened.
Fuck early access, what a stupid fucking idea that sets you up to be robbed
[editline]22nd June 2014[/editline]
Early access is like spotting a drug dealer money for him to "go get the drugs". Most of the time once your money is gone you realize you're not getting anything

I'd be very surprised if nothing was forced and your performance still was that bad. my old 6870's and i5 661 (mid-end GPU and budget CPU from 2009/2010) ran the game better than that on medium :v:

this this this
seano you gotta stop talking about stuff you're clueless about, it makes you look really dumb
why would someone moving kill a whole project?

I have a 770 and get 60+ on the highest settings. Wtf are you doing? Try turning off those stupid filters and vsync.
Also my friend has a radeon 5700 series and it runs it fine too. You must be doing something wrong.
