• GTA IV iCEnhancer modder driven away by peers "spitting on me, my work, everything"

Anyone receiving a lot of hate and drama as opposed to joy in any form or fashion will put them down. I don't care if you think they can "just ignore it"; it doesn't work that way.
Most of the hate looks like modder drama. It seems like the main complaint is a lack of attribution of credit to other modders for things he's used. It's kinda true as the download website only mentions that it's built upon Boris Vorontsov's ENB series with a little "Using latest ENB" at the bottom of the page. Meanwhile it's got his name plastered everywhere. He's not deserving of any form of hate, but it seems like he could manage this better.
I've never done anything driven by passion for the benefit of perfect strangers in my whole life
I can tell.
Why do people never listen to this advice Anyone who says otherwise just gives more weight and credit to the people who are 'bullying/insulting' other people online. The less attention you give them the happier you'll be, simple as that. Just do your thing and take it easy, it's not hard.
hey if there were a way to conveniently skip out selective posts i'd be all over that shit [editline]28th July 2014[/editline] I know it's possible - some of you guys do it all the time!!
I can tell.
"boo hoo someone's mean to me on the internet" that's what I can tell
Can we talk about ICCEnhancer instead of the dev? I have to say, it runs alot better and looks great compared to 2.5 My GTX 780 doesn't overheat anymore from it.

Gamers are such entitled little shits and it's driving away talent.
lol no it's pretty easy tbh
Wait, you released a mod that took an entire community by storm? I need to see a link.
No one's talking about enb 3 in the gta thread so does anyone here know how to prevent the enb settings overlay showing up? The key combo conflicts with the steam overlay and I don't want to be tweaking any shader settings anyway
well he did release a series of animations that attracted a huge japanese audience though it prolly helps that he doesnt immediately understand most of the hateful comments i'd imagine
I also made some shitty Minecraft stuff back in, like, 2011 that still gets daily hate comments I've been called gay so many times :'(
"I'm the victim, feel sorry for me. I have very thin skin".
"Just ignore it." - People who've never experienced a such a scenario
"I'm the victim, feel sorry for me. I have very thin skin".
He gets insulted by many for no other reason besides being famous. Is he not a victim? What should he be blamed for? It's easy to think that you have thick skin. You don't want insults to affect you. You try to ignore it but it keeps happening. Hundreds insulting you for no reason. You keep trying to ignore it, but your "thick" skin becomes more and more brittle. And eventually you crack like a fucking egg. I know that feeling pretty well. I've been harassed by a person at my school for no reason. Constantly. Every other day (thank fucking god for block schedule). He even used to bully me back in middle school. I didn't want to give in to his insults. I wanted to ignore him. One day, I wanted to believe that I could withstand it for just a little longer, but it was already beyond my threshold. Before I knew it, I felt a lump in my throat and tears ran down my face. I wanted to run home. My friends were worried. And he just looked at me with a dumbfounded expression and attempted to apologize because he didn't know the extent of his words. Fuck that feeling. I never want to feel that ever again. Just remembering it makes my stomach churn. I'd imagine it'd be a lot worse with a couple hundred people harassing me. Hayssam is just a normal person like you and me. He doesn't know how to deal with that shit.
I think the way Keilany handled it reminded me of FAKEFACTORY, his being the worst reaction possible.
You're missing the point entirely.
Facepunchers tend to give a lot of advice without ever being in the situation they are advising on.
I'd take this with a grain of salt. The Icenhancer guy has a HUGE ego. I remember back when an earlier release of Icenhancer was leaked by a tester, he lost it and went on a tirade on his website and pulled every release he had of it so no one could use it. I remember asking him on the Facebook page for Icenhancer if that was really the best motive, since it'd just be giving flame to the trolls' fire, and he just blocked me from the page.

It's combative and just encourages people continue to hate on you. If you remain humble and honest with people then you can't keep a fire going. When you respond badly to criticism it attracts trolls, and trolls will only stick around for as long as its fun.
The thing about thick skin is that it just makes it take that much longer for something to pierce it, and the internet has a lot of time on it's hands to do just that.
I don't understand the appeal of icenhancer, it only looks good in screenshots. It's absolutely AWFUL to play with.
It makes an already unoptimized game run even worse.
Depends on your computer fucking duh
"I'm the victim, feel sorry for me. I have very thin skin".
There's a feeling I get when I work on something that I think is good for days or weeks on end, release it for everybody to have a field day with, only for them to not like a certain aspect of it or some minor thing that can be fixed in the shortest of time. This feeling of anger balling up in the pit of my stomach, my jaw clenching and tightening as I read those negative comments, the overwhelming feeling of dread I get as I anticipate more negative comments. I then want to completely shut myself out of involvement of my own creation. I want to avoid it like the plague. This is the feeling of being criticized. I want, no, wish some of the ignorant people in this thread would experience this feeling then come back and tell me to grow thicker skin. It's easy for me not to get affected by people's insults, but its hard for me to not get affected by people's insults to my own creation/work. Sadly this is the nature of criticism, and as hard as it is for me to accept it, I have to accept it.
He is an enb wizard. Haters couldn't do better if they tried. [editline]1st August 2014[/editline]
It makes an already unoptimized game run even worse.
It runs buttery smooth if you have a decent pc.
I never liked this massive culture of hate, hey someone did something so others can enjoy it, even if it's for free, let's hate that person because we're a sad bunch of cretins, let's antagonize the person that will sure teach him!
I gotta go with the other side on this. The internet is full of pricks just like real life. People will give you shit no matter what as long as your in the spotlight and its a good lesson to learn very early that you can't please everything. Do what you want to do because you like doing it, if you legitimately are you will eventually trump a fear of rejection from a bunch of people online. If you quit what you're doing because of that, then you're an idiot for not pursuing it because you like doing it. Your only wasting your ability, no skin off their bones, you gave up.
Facepunchers tend to give a lot of advice without ever being in the situation they are advising on.
yeah, such as "run crying to your mom every time you see negative commentary about your work" seriously what the fuck? how do you people function in real life? are you so sheltered everything's daisies and shit around you?
